We recently discovered a quick & simple solution to the Port 6080 issue, no Web Adapter necessary. Create a new AWS Elastic Load Balancer. Make the Port Configuration ("Listeners") to go from Load Balancer Port 80(HTTP) to Instance Port 6080(HTTP) Select your AWS instance hosting services on port 6080 Under "Health Check", change the "Ping Target" from "/index.html" to "/arcgis/rest/services" Use the A Record DNS name for your load balancer as the domain name to point to your rest services So if your old url were something like this: http://123.456.789.123:6080/arcgis/rest/services/mymapservice Then your new url would be something like this: http://MyLoadBalancer.aws.com/arcgis/rest/services/mymapservice Note, that if your "Health Check" for your instance fails that the Load Balancer will not pass traffic to it. So the key is to get your iinstance to pass the ELB's Health Check.

It was a corrupt MXD. I started a fresh MXD, added the data, and performed the same trace and the selection set results worked as expected. I've been working with ArcMap for 5 years now, and it still amazes me how fragile the internal workings are. The bugs always seem to find me! Anyways, hopefully this simple solution helps out someone in the future!

I'm using the Utility Network Analyst to perform a simple trace. When I use the option to return results as a drawing (graphic), the trace performs as expected and I see results. However, when I change that option to return results as a selection, it doesn't return any results at all. Is there some basic setting that I'm missing on this particular MXD which is preventing ArcMap from return the results as a selection? All the layers are set as selectable, I'm in an editing session. All participating features are "Enabled", the "Ancillary Role" is set correctly (as indicated by the fact that I am getting results with the graphic results option). It's driving me nuts! I've tried every logical permutation in the Utility Network Analyst toolbar options. Can anyone think of a reason why results won't be coming back as a selection set as expected? Using ArcMap 9.3.1, ArcInfo, Geodatabase contains about 25,000 features altogether. Thanks for your help.

This is for people who can't access the code to use the code solution provided in the above posts. A low tech solution is to insert the tag directly into the description. If you include font color and font face, then the font tag will over ride this bug. For example: Live website data If you use that then even if you click the link, the pop windows you open afterward will all have the same font & color as the original. Modify colors & faces to suit your requirements.

My problem is doubly frustrating because on some days FGDB's over the Local Area Network (LAN) run just fine, but other days they .... are....so.... slow!!! For example, in ArcCatalog(9.3.1) just to *expand* a FGDB's contents like a dataset can take 6 seconds to respond. However, if I use another coworker's PC to expand the same FGDB over the LAN, it's near instantaneous. If I move the FGDB to a local drive on my PC, it works fine too. So I know it's *not* the network or the server. It has to be something going on with ArcGIS Desktop and perhaps the underlying ArcObjects engine running on my PC, specific to network connectivity. It must be competing for resources with something else is my best guess. Somebody has to know why this happens. It's much too common a complaint.
