I am trying to make a feature service editable on ArcGIS Online. It is a simple design, with one geospatial layer, that has a join to a project table. I want to make the project table editable, although (even in ArcMAP), one must save out the two joined tables into one new feature class to make it editable. I have been advised, that I would need to create a 'view' in the SDE database to make this work. When creating a view, I am uncertain what to put into the 'definition' window. I assume it would be something pertaining to the join in the two datasets, maybe the fields being joined, but I don't know. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks- M-

Hello, I am attempting to use Google Earth as an easy data sharing portal of GIS to others. I have exported a high end DEM to a kml file, although cannot find the tool within Google Earth Pro that acts as the identity tool does in ArcGIS. Is there such a tool (identity) to help me select pixels in Google Earth to find out exact elevations of a specific location? Thanks in advance for any assistance. Mark

Yes, but that would have to be performed on all of the raster outputs. Is there a way to locate all -999 records within a single point dataset and change them to NULL? Or batch each field at a time?

Thanks Jake! It worked, although I am unearthing additional issues within the data. For instance, 'no data' is represented as -999. Is there a method to convert all -999 in the point storm surge dataset to NULL? M-

Hello: I have a point dataset which has 20+ fields indicating different storm surge elevations. For instance, one field indicates storm 1, and contains 200 water surface elevation records. The second field indicates storm 2, with also 200 water surface records, and so on. The returns for each storm are present on the same record/point, just different values. I want to generate 20+ point feature classes, one for each storm by extracting each field into its own dataset. Following this process, I'd like to run a batch process for each storm point file that generates a raster for each storm scenario. I know how to do this manually, but it would take a lot of time considering the number of steps involved. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! -Mark

Hello: I requested LiDAR of a county and recieved two different data formats. One being an img, and the other las files. In working with the las files, I converted them to a las dataset, but am having a difficult time converting that las dataset to a raster that matches the existing DEM (merged imgs). I'm using the 'LAS Dataset to Raster' tool, and discovered two areas where there is an option to adjust the output cell size. One at the sampling type = Cell Size, and sampling value = 5 (meters). The other setting is found in the environment tab under 'Raster Analysis' where there is an option to select the raster in which you want to match the resolution. I can't get this to work. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello: I am required to assign elevation values to an existing point dataset. I would like to use a DEM to acheive this goal. Is there a method of conducting a process similar to a spatial join between the point dataset (vector) and the DEM (Raster)? Thanks in advance for any assitance. M-

Hello: I have a geodatabase that contains three datasets. Two tables and a polygon layer. The GIS layer contains a one to many relationship to a central table, followed by that table having a many to one to the last table. Manually, everything works great. But I want to automate the selections through their related tables by setting up queries in model builder. Is there a tool/process/script that automates the selection of related tables when records are selected in one of the participating tables? The only way I know to select the subsequent tables is by the related tables button at the top of the attribute tables window. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. In good health.

Its definately not a hardware issue. I am running a 2.3 GigaHertz QuadCore, with 24 GBs of RAM on a 64bit machine. Although I have been successful in processing multiple states, and moving to an SDE environment, I am still having some rendering issues. For instance, everytime I selct the raster it wants to generate a pyramid, which is fine, but this process is only needed once. I know I could resample the data, or simply change the 10 meter decimals into integers, but I want to retain the integrity of the data. The pyramids should help, but they are not.

Yes, I am working with statewide 10 Meter DEMs currently housed in a file geodatabase with the intention to place them into an SDE. I am having to do the basic processing to get them corrected. They are currently in a file geodatabase raster dataset, and I was wondering if any other of the formats would provide me a faster rendering time?

Hello: I am looking for an ESRI geodatabase shape add on for Microsoft Visio. I am creating a database design diagram in Visio, and wanted to use the same symbols as ESRI uses for the various datasets, relationships, etc. I know an ESRI shape Visio template is available, but have been unable to locate it. I'm currently using Visio 2010. Thanks for any assistance... Mark

Hello: I have a geodatabase that houses a primary table with jurisdictional plans. A plan may relate to multiple jurisdictional boundary types such as counties and cities. To address this, a second table (Jurisdictions) was designed to house all potential jurisdictional boundaires using a one (Plans) to many (Potential Jurisdictions). The many are simply combined records of every potential boundary using the FIPS codes. The unique identifier is the plan number. To geospatially enable the data, a one to one relationshp is connected from the jurisdictional table to the census feature classes. A one to one for the counties, and a one to one for the communities (cities) using the FIPs as the unique identifier. If I write a query for the plans, subsequently wanting to select all GIS areas, I have to choose the relationship, I have to slected the related tables option three times to get my results. Is there a method to automate the selection of the related tables, so if I ran a query for plans, it would then automatically select the jurisdictions associated with that plan, and in turn select their geographic counter parts? I would also like the relationship capability to work the other way, for instance, which plans are associated with which queried geographic entities. For instance: which plans are associated with this community AND this county. Because of the multiple one to one relationships, is there a way to add to selected features after the first relationship is performed? It over-rights the current selection each time, limiting my ability to discover how many plans are associated with two types of jurisdictional boundaries. Thanks for any input you may have in helping with this matter!
