I am trying to use the streetWidth(0) (object attribute) to set the maximum height of a building envelope so that I can maintain a certain street to building height ratio. I have used attr streetWidth(i) = 0 For some reason the object attribute option is greyed out, any idea? Cheers,

I was trying to install City Engine 20103 on my HP z800 with a xeon processor but had error telling me that the processor type is not supported? From what I gathered online, it should be compatible... http://www.esri.com/~/media/Files/Pdfs/partners/hardware/dellcityengine.pdf What is the issue there? Cheers, MC

Hi ! These are basically 'just' parameters for the Dynamic Subdivision, so since those are not that important, they're not inherited to the shapes which are created. But you can map those Subdivision parameters with a map layer (image-based), so you could use the same map layer then for each created shape to sample again the value of interest. Setting this up takes a little time, but I have some examples for this, if needed. Cheers ! Matt examples on how this could be done would be great!

Just a follow up question, Is it possible to connect to higher level parameters (Block parameter, Street parameters, intersection parameter etc...) which generates all the lot shapes? Similar idea to the streetWidth object attribute which gets passed on to the shapes after the street gets created. say for example if I want the building envelope to have a setback (rule parameter) relative to the lotWidthMin (block parameter) value, how would i do that? It looks like the only object attribute available are streetWidth and shapeType. Cheers and happy new year!

Hi ! Use a parameter, e.g. 'i' for index. attr streetWidth(i) = 0 that way you can go and grab each edge's entry based on the index. Note that the first entry is 0 and has the biggest street width value. ok ? Awesome! This worked 🙂 thanks Matt!

I think that might be because you don't have a specific streetWidth() value. Have you tried using either streetWidth(*) or streetWidth(0)? hope it helps Thanks for the reply, I get error messages (token mismatch) with both "streetWidth(*)" and "streetWidth(0)" I have looked through the CE documentation, couldn't find anything about this situation... Cheers, MC

Thanks, Rhino does have a material transparency setting. Should be ok now. What seems to be a problem is the exported fbx files are always 100x smaller, but I think this might be a problem with fbx format itself not CE, however an option to change scale of exported models would be handy. Thanks again for your help Matt!

Hi all, I have an issue with the exported fbx model having a transparency value of 100% which makes it invisible when I try to import it into my visualisation package. I cannot see a transparency setting in the export dialogue. I have also tried to export to .dae which does the same with transparency to the model. However, when I export with .3ds, the model transparency exports correctly. This is beyond my understanding... I have attached the model file, the export log and a screen capture from rhino showing all the texture having 100% transparency Any help is appreciated! NB. I am using the Generic Modern Buildings rule from the tutorial. Cheers, M.C.
