I went through the normal process to create a web mapping application from a web map using Firefox (v.23.0.1), but the dialogue box was missing an option to save and submit changes. However, I logged in with Internet Explorer, and everything worked as expected.

Our ArcGIS Online maps that are exported to PDF versions used to have legends on them, but no longer do. While looking for answers, I stumbled across this example code from the ArcGIS API for JavaScript, and noticed that their example map does not contain a legend on the printed version either: https://developers.arcgis.com/en/javascript/jssamples/widget_print_webmap.html The closest other thread along these lines is one in which the user was missing some (but not all) icons in the legend: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/84812-Legend-icons-not-printing I would greatly appreciate any help in resolving this. Thanks, Matt

This error has been plaguing me in recent weeks when trying to upload data to ArcGIS Online through the Desktop 10.1 interface. It is clear that this is being used in ways other than described on the help file: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//00vp0000002r001270 I'm not sure if it is related to too many layers being uploaded at once, transparency or other settings or what, but there is something in the data that triggers this error that has nothing to do with the length of the path. The work-around is to upload the data through the online interface, but of course, that is much more time-consuming.

No, there is no automated synchronization. You need to republish the data and recreate the service. One thing you'll need to think about is where will the "authoritative" data reside? If you're creating a hosted feature service to support editing and also allowing editing against your local database, it will be challenging to synchronize the versions. We don't currently have the set of tools available in the hosted environment. This workflow is currently supported by an onsite ArcGIS server installation synchronizing with the local database. Services are then published out against the same local database. Thanks, Mike I have a related but different question: I have updated a .csv file on ArcGIS Online, but the updates have not happened in the related feature service. I downloaded the data from ArcGIS Online, and the updated information is indeed on there. Does your reply mean that every time I update the data, I need to delete the old feature service and create a new one, recreate the metadata, and then go in to each applicable map to add and style content? It would be terrific if that weren't the case. It seems as if there are options for editing the feature service, which have been enabled. What's the best procedure here? Thanks, Matt

This is a point shapefile that I just made in ArcGIS desktop 10.0 from a .csv. I get the exact same error message as the OP. My first try had no .prj, so I made a version in WGS_1984_Web_Mercator, but I got the same result (which is to say no result). As a side note, I have Adobe Illustrator installed on my machine, and it renames the .sbx files as Illustrator Tsume files on my local machine. I wouldn't think that would interfere with ArcGIS online, but I'm tossing that fact out there just in case...

I'm having the same problem. No issue importing .csv files, but I've never gotten the zipped .shp package to work.
