I would suggest to Add feature class to Map (Table of content), which will be added as feature layer. than use that layer as input for your tool and skip the following line of code. it works fine. FclassLayer = arcpy.MakeFeatureLayer_management(FClass,"FclassLayer") Please review following code. import arcpy mxd = arcpy.mapping.MapDocument ('CURRENT') df = arcpy.mapping.ListDataFrames(mxd,"Layers")[0] arcpy.env.overwriteOutput = True arcpy.env.workspace ="D:/00-Awork/01-GIS Work/01-ArcGIS/" wrk=arcpy.env.workspace arcpy.AddMessage("Workspace added") FClass = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(0) Field = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(1) Feature = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(2) where_clause = """{} = '{}'""".format(arcpy.AddFieldDelimiters(FClass, Field),Feature) # I have added extra pair of single quotes for selecting strings arcpy.AddMessage(where_clause) arcpy.SelectLayerByAttribute_management(FClass,"NEW_SELECTION", where_clause) arcpy.CopyFeatures_management(FClass, "SelectionSites") df.zoomToSelectedFeatures() arcpy.RefreshActiveView() arcpy.AddMessage("All done!")

Hi, Thank You! Dan, it resolved my problem. I created polygon using aggregate distance of 25 Meter then converted polygon vertexes into point feature class again. But I am looking for some customized solution using nearest distance. an idea of developing python script would be helpful.

Hi, I have a cluster of survey points, contains Z values, want to reduce point density randomly in marked Areas as highlighted in following snapshot. is there a way to reduce these points. I want to keep original points instead of interpolating the points. Kindly review the snapshot and provide solution. I am using ArcGIS Desktop 10.5 Advance. And don't have Maritime Bathymetry extension.

Sorry, I miss understood your question, please review following code written for txt file, however you can change it for Json file. attached snapshot shows two parameters, Folder and List of Strings. Once you select the folder containing text file, using parameter "Add dialog box", your second parameter will be populated with text list. def updateParameters(self): user_path=self.params[0].value data =os.path.join(str(user_path),r'Msb.txt') results = [] with open(data) as data_file: for line in data_file: results.append(line) self.params[1].filter.list = results return

Instead, I would recommend to go through the help documents for Arc GIS Desktop 10.5 by refereeing the preparation resources and Esri trainings on https://www.esri.com/training/, you will get most of them free if you are connected to an organization. And ArcGIS online, ArcGIS Pro. Basic knowledge is required. All the Best!

As far as you preserve the selection in parent layer it works fine. even if you change the labeling field it shows only selected labels in selection layer. once you release your selection in parent layer and try to refresh the layer by switching on/off it displays all the features. as both the layers are pointing to same underlying data source it may preserve it until the selection was preserved. I tested it in 10.5, I am not sure how was the behavior in 10.3.

You could select polygons which are very small and narrow by using select by attribute based on its Area. After selection verify them if they are satisfying your criteria. Finally use Eliminate GP Tool from Data management->Generalization to merging them with neighboring polygons. For gaps look for topology as suggested by Mr. Dan Patterson.
