I finally figured this one out. In the end it has nothing to do with SSL or permissions and everything to do with ####. I had <a href="#" tags in my JS and when clicking on links with this syntx a # was added to the end of the main url e.g something/something.html#. This # was subsequently causing the ArcGIS Online login to fail. I have now removed all the #'s and the login is working fine. Of course this has meant some other parts of the application do not work in certain browsers but that is another story.

Hi, It is a development environment but I am running it through HTTPS on my IIS. I have also tried the work around you provided and it is still not working. The error in FireBug is telling me XMLHttpRequest cannot load..... https://127.0.0.1 is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin. Then 3: TypeErrors It is some kind of security issue and I do not know very much about this area. Is there anything else you can suggest that may help to get this working?? Thanks

I am developing an application and trying to use the Portal tools now built into the JS API. I have managed to get it searching ArcGIS Online items and add them to the map but am having issues trying to sign into my organisational account to view private items. I am using the code from the samples (below) to try and sign in. It worked a couple of times but I can now not get it to sign in and have made no changes to the code that would break it. I get the error in the attached image in firebug. Can anyone shed any light on this? function signIn() { var signInLink = dojo.byId('signIn'); if (signInLink.innerHTML.indexOf('In') !== -1) { portal.signIn().then(function (loggedInUser) { signInLink.innerHTML = "Sign Out"; }, function (error) { signInLink.innerHTML = 'Sign In'; //error so reset sign in link }); } else { portal.signOut().then(function (portalInfo) { signInLink.innerHTML = "Sign In"; }); } }

When accessing items from ArcGIS Online in the JavaScript API there seems to be an error in the item type property when a tiled map service from AGOL is returned from a search (portal.queryItems(params)). Currently AGOL supports feature services and tiled map services. You can also reference other ArcGIS Server services including map services. When I query items in AGOL it returns items that have a type property. The problem is the tiled map services from AGOL have type map service as do referenced map services from other ArcGIS Servers. These two items need a different call to add them into the map e.g: new esri.layers.ArcGISTiledMapServiceLayer(url) OR new esri.layers.ArcGISDynamicMapServiceLayer(url) Currently I am differentiating the two by doing a string search on the url for ???tiles??? but this method does not seem to be very robust. Does anyone know why this is the case? If there is a better way to differentiate the two item types or if this is a bug that will be fixed? Thanks, Luke

Yea there is no easily viable search box at the moment. But you do not have to be in edit mode to have the search available. You just need to add the add content tab to the ribbon (you will need to be in edit mode to do this) and then everyone who users the map will be able to do a location search from the contents window.

You can do searches on place names or addresses if this is what you are after. In the table of contents there should a binoculars icon, if you click on that you can search for Places, ArcGIS or the Web. If you do a places search you can then add a pin to the map and zoom to it. If you have an ArcGIS Server feature layer you can also open the features table and do a filter on the data. What I cannot find out to do is search on a SharePoint list that has been geocoded and added to the map. Does anybody know how to do this? Or is it not out of the box functionality? ie. You need to use the API and do some programming.

Hi, I have a shared document library in SharePoint that I have added some address fields to and a geocoding workflow using the ArcGIS Online EU locator. The workflow works after it has been added but then when I add new documents to the library it always fails with a cancelled outcome and the error message below. If I run the workflow manually it does work, but I do not want people to have to do this. Also when I open the document properties and edit the attributes I can edit the text fields but not the location like is available with a normal list. The Select, Fix & Update buttons are not available on the ribbon and I can seem to edit the location of the point manually. Any ideas??? Your WorkFlow failed: Required parameter is null or empty. Parameter name: AddressToLocationsParameters.Address. System.ArgumentException: Required parameter is null or empty. Parameter name: AddressToLocationsParameters.Address at ESRI.ArcGIS.Mappi

Hello, Is it possible to do a search on a SharePoint layer in a SP map part? I have a SP list that has been geocoded and added to a map and I now want to search the map for particular items in the list and highlight them on the map. I know you can do filters on ArcGIS Server feature layers but is it possible with SP lists at all? Thanks, Luke

ok so I worked this out. I needed to add a tool to my add-in rather than a button and then add this code to activate the onclick event: protected override void OnMouseDown(ESRI.ArcGIS.Desktop.AddIns.Tool.MouseEventArgs arg) So easy!!! Thanks, Luke

Thanks for your reply. What I still don't understand is how I get the code to run when the mouse is clicked on the map. Or where I actually put this code in my add-in project. Thanks

I am trying to write an ArcGIS Add-in using ArcObjects and .Net (C#) and I can't figure out how to get the user to click on a button that I have added to ArcMap from the add-in and then from that click on the map and get the co-ordinates or location of the click. This is the first ArcObjects programming I have done and I have managed to get quite a bit done but can not figure this out at all. Thanks for any help, Luke
