i brought in a layer from AGO using the Open in ArcGIS Desktop option and saw that the source is the following: https://services1.arcgis.com/GE4Idg9FL97XBa3P/arcgis/rest/services/Drive from Groveland_Mounds (15 Minutes)/FeatureServer Will this source ever move my file? Is this ESRI's cloud storage? Will my file always be there? Any further info about this would help, thanks!

I opened a Feature Service layer in desktop using the Open in Arcgis Desktop tool. It brought it in as a Feature Service Feature Class. I tried exporting to shapefile and it gave me these errors I couldn't export as a shapefile from AGO due to a odd restriction, but Im wondering if its even possible to export as shapefile from a Feature Service Feature Class via desktop. Thanks!

Hello Antonio, The first version of the Briefing Book does not support enterprise log-ins. However, this will be available in the next release. Our next release is targeted for late June 2014. However, because you were able to login and create a book. It should be working. Are you using the currently released version of Briefing Book? Or are you using a "development" version from GITHUB? Below are somethings you can try if your book exists in your ArcGIS Online Organization but isn't displaying in the Application. -Lindsay Briefing Book Troubleshooting 1. Check your ArcGIS Online Web Mapping Application Item where your book is stored. Look at the URL towards the bottom of the page. Does it have "localhost" in the URL https://localhost/briefingbook/?bookId=91d97b65a174404dbc8aa5da17a2ef26 If it does then please change it to reflect the machine and domain name of the application For Example: https://machinename.domainname.com/briefingbook/?bookId=91d97b65a174404dbc8aa5da17a2ef26 (Accessing and authoring a book with a URL containing localhost like http://localhost/BriefingBook/default.html will create the book but when the application tries to open the book at another time it is unable to locate "localhost") 2.Check your Config.js configuration file, look at the required parameter ConfigSearchTag: 'UniqueSearchTag' . This parameter requires a value, it cannot be left blank and it has to be unique across ArcGIS Online. To get a unique value use something that reflects your organization for example 'CityofSydneyBriefBook' (something no one else will use) If this was blank or the tag wasn't unique then update the tag in the config.js and go to the ArcGIS Online Web Mapping Application Item where your book is stored. Look at the TAGS near the bottom of the page, delete any tags that are not unique. Add the tag that you just added to your config.js. Now that the Book item tag and the config.js tag match your book should load correctly. 3. Check your Config.js configuration file, look at the required parameter PortalURL: "https://ORGNAME.maps.arcgis.com/" . Verify the Portal for ArcGIS or ArcGIS Online Organization Account URL is correct and you can access it in a browser. Thanks Lindsay, the tag issue seemed to resolve the problem. Appreciate your response!

Shapefile has a Character limit of 245 correct? Feature class 400? So given that AGO only imports shapefiles, If I have a text field that has over 245 characters, then it wont show all of the text correct? If I do it as a FC, it will take all the text but once I export as a Shapefile then it loses the characters that are after 245 characters. Reason for the post is that I made a shapefile in desktop and it had over 245 characters and I did not receive any error message when I was populating a field, I then imported to AGO and it was fine, showed all characters. But then I tried to add more features to the shapefile, and tried to add text those features but now its giving me a 245 character error message. Just curious why its doing it now and not before.

Can I get a detailed explanation on how the Drivetime Analysis tool produces its outcome? Is it using some sort of Road Network Dataset that recognizes the MPH of the roads? Just curious because I ran a 15 min analysis and noticed there was a gap missing (def within 15 min from Point provided). The gap contained secondary roads in a rural area and Im assuming the Network Dataset hasn't gotten that far with the info. Any info would be awesome, thanks community!
