Hi Ren, thanks for your answer. I finally found the answer to the problem. Or at least it solved the problem in my case. I had a jpeg picture inserted in my layout which caused the trouble. When I save the pic in png format instead and insert it to my layout, there is no problem in exporting the map as pdf and open it with Acrobat Reader.

Hey there, 2 years later but I kinda ran into the same problem... I exported a couple of pdfs which can be opened with PDF XChange Editor but not with Acrobat Reader. Reading the chat above I tried exporting it to a local directory instead of the network directory but same issue. Also I don't even get the NULL characters at the end when I check on the pdf in a text editor. And I am not using a Novell network... My workaround for now is to open the pdfs in XChange Editor and save them as optimized pdf. I didn't have the problem with pdfs exported from ArcGIS 10. It's confusing...Any idea? Thank you! Thanks for the reply. I totally forgot to post the trick which solved the problem... I found it in this post: Possible to load fonts into ArcGIS Pro The answer was to manually copy the font into the ArcGIS Pro fonts folder: C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Pro\Resources\Fonts There seems to be a problem in ArcGIS Pro 2.4 with newly installed fonts... Now it works!

Hi Jacob, thank you for your comment. I am using ArcGIS Pro 2.4.2 I figuered out the problem might be that it is a lyr-file and no lyrx-file. So there was no problem importing it in ArcMap but it comes to a problem when importing it in ArcGIS Pro. Any experience with that?

Hi! I have trouble importing a symbology for a point layer in ArcGIS Pro. I previously used the same point shp in ArcMap and imported the same symbology and it worked. But in ArcGIS Pro I only get random symbols showing up after importing the symbology. In order to use the symbology I had to install a specific font type which I did. Any idea about this problem? Thank your for your help! Lara
