It looks like all this role permission does is enable a button on the feature layer that allows you to add the feature layer to a map with full editing control. You can't save the map so it's not a great work around but it offers some flexibility.

According to the ArcGIS Online online help the member role setting when creating a custom role "Edit with full control": Allows members to add, delete, and update features and attributes in editable hosted feature layers, regardless of the editing operations enabled on the layer. How is this intended to work? I tried testing it on my end by turning off adds, deletes and updates on a feature service and then enabling this permission on a custom role. The end result was I couldn't edit any of the layers in the feature service while logged into an account using the custom role. What I'm trying to accomplish is this: I have one group of users (Group A) that I only want editing attributes in Collector/Field Maps. I have a second group (Group B) that I want to have full editing permissions. I was hoping to have add, delete, and geometry updates disabled on the feature service, and then have that custom role allow Group B users to have full editing permissions anyway. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Thank you for your response. Even with the calculator it wasn't clear to me whether my basemap would consume credits so I contacted support. Basically you're charged for storage of the basemap but not for actual usage of the basemap. The storage credits are insignificant (0.33 credits so far for 1.2GB) so this will be the direction I'll go in.

I recently created my own basemap by exporting a tile package from ArcMap and adding it to my Android device. The problem I ran into was that it wouldn't default to this custom basemap. I then decided to upload it to ArcGIS Online and convert it to a tile layer. I'm now able to set this new tile layer as the default basemap but I'm concerned about consuming a lot of credits. Looking at the credit utilization chart it hasn't consumed any credits yet but I just want to verify that tile layers won't consume credits.

After working with technical support we narrowed it down to two features (both that were within the ID ranges listed above) with bad geometry. After deleting them everything else worked. Thanks for the help everyone.

So the 200 polygons that are missing are ID 7801-7900 and 12701-12800. Still haven't been able to fix the issue but it seems like it gets lost someplace in the upload process. I've tried downloading it as a feature service through ArcMap as well as directly in ArcGIS Online as it's own Shapefile. Same result. It also occurs to me now that sharing it through ArcGIS Online won't be the most effective method to share because the features are already missing. You would probably want the original shapefile. I guess I'll get in touch with technical support and see if they want me to send it to them via e-mail.

I just added and shared "Buildings" as a feature service and ShapeFile. It still shows 13766 features in ArcMap and 13566 in ArcGIS Online. Thanks!

Yeah, they show up just fine on ArcMap. I don't see any errors on that particular layer while publishing the map service either. It's very strange.

I uploaded a map service onto ArcGIS Online and noticed that I'm having a problem with one of my layers. The layer is a Shapefile and consists of polygon features. There are 13,766 features but only 13,566 are showing up on the map I created. As I mined into it a little more I found one block of 100 where every feature from ID 7800-7900 wasn't showing. I tried copying and pasting those features on their existing location and they don't show up. If I create a new feature it shows up but I'm still missing 200 features. Any thoughts?

It appears it names them by symbology first, and if the symbology isn't named then it defaults to the layer name. However, sometimes a layer will have two lines in it's name and sometimes the first line is blank even though the layer is named. Obviously it is coded logically I just can't figure out what the logic is. Thanks!

So I'm a complete newbie when it comes to python. I created a python script to create a join using model builder that works great within ArcGIS. With that said I want to be able to run the script within Windows Task Scheduler and am having trouble making it work. The join is between a feature class and a table. When I look at the python script the full path for the table is created but the feature class is referenced by it's layer name without a full path. How do I create a path for the feature class? I assumed it would be something like: C:\filegeodatabase.gdb\featuredataset\featureclass but when I try running it with pythonwin I get at "Returned exit code 0". Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?

You opened a new world to me with the model builder. I haven't worked with Python up until the last couple of days but the model builder makes it simple. I'm getting an error in my script but I'm definitely on the right track now. Thanks!

Thanks for the response. I was afraid that was the case. The database that is part of the join is coming from another location and is changing daily. Any idea if this something I could do fairly easy in Python?

I get this error when I try to publish a map service with a .dbf join to ArcGIS Online. As soon as I remove the join everything works perfectly. The information contained in the database is pretty important to the function of our GIS, is there something I can do to make the join work?
