I though I had a work-around... use the Make Query Layer tool. That makes a 'permanent' join vs an mxd join and so there are no % symbols in the field names. However, apparently ArcMap can't publish a feature service with a 'complex' Query Layer. Which is another limitation; it would be fine if Dashboards could just use map image layers. Will continue testing. All I have, is a SELECT joining two different views together, just a regular join. Is that really a "complex" Query?

Hi Nathan, you're right; and yes the Add to vs New makes sense, but it was happening an existing webmap. Perhaps a weird corner case bug. It was two webmaps. Which just had basemaps in them (I made custom ones in the Styler) I re-created them and haven't repro'd it since. I'll keep an eye out for it and show support if it happens again.

Hi Sam, thank you for your reply. I had noticed this after the AGOL update earlier this year. Oddly though this time... AGOL was adding layers from webmap 1 in to webmap 2 which was already an existing webmap. Both were already existing. Very confusing and unexpected behavior. Perhaps I I came across another bug. I'll show support. In general; a safe default would be a New Map that is blank, if people click the Map button. Currently it seems to open the last map and something about unsaved changes. I would prefer the previous behavior. More logical, expected; and less error prone when working with production maps. When creating a new document in essentially any program on a computer the long-standing convention is a new blank document. (no intermingling of other documents or their data)

If you open a webmap it seems to add stuff from the last webmap, as a new 'default'. So for example it adds layers from the last webmap I had open in to a new webmap. This seemed to start happening over the summer, after the "existing webmap" state seemed to become a thing. Anyone else seeing this? How can I get rid of it? It's a bizarre default behavior that I do wish to happen. If I want to add a layer I will add a layer as usual.

Hi Gary, thanks. Another thing, from talking to colleagues, this didn't used to be an issue, so we suspect it's the result of an AGOL update (perhaps 10.8 or 10.8.1). In reality, I'd expect to be able to delete a field, and have no issues. Be able to start editing again just as normal. Hopefully will be fixed in 10.9.

Hi Jonah, thank you. That works with a few minor caveats above. I know it asks if you want to overwrite the webmap in favor of local Pro configuration. Now...what about the flip direction, syncing downward from the webmap if that is newer?

If you author a webmap in Pro and upload to AGOL or Portal, it gets the popups and symbology if I understand correctly, and other webmap type of config like scales etc. And eventually it will get parity with the smaller details like numeric settings (decimal places, commas). Question: if you then change some of the webmap settings on AGOL and for example change popups or symbology, how do you sync back down to Pro? If you republish from Pro, is their any way to keep the newer configurations in the webmap and also sync them down to Pro so they are synchronized?

This concept would be incredibly useful across the platform in all applications (ArcMap, Pro, ArcGIS Online, JS API, etc) Randomly assign a new color to a newly added attribute value, when symbology is set for categorical data and displaying as unique values. A new choropleth color could be randomly assigned; or even better, use an algorithm to make a color that fits in somewhat to the existing scheme (fits in but also contrasts). Unique values symbology: add ability to set new unique colors randomly

I've seen it on four or five different Orgs for different customers now. Support said the data is corrupt and can't log it because it's not reproducible. I am hopeful when AGOL goes to 10.9 it may resolve it; we'll keep tracking this.

I have a function that gets fields and values from a node service from a REST request. I put it in its own IdentifyTask and it works fine to create a popup. (JSAPI 4.17) I also enabled defaultPopupTemplateEnabled = true for my app. I turned on popups for all layers in the webmap. So the basic default popup works fine for all layers, (showing all fields) and the node popup works fine, each by themselves. Objective: default popup for all layers; except one layer where I get data from a node service. update: I solved this by pushing the results to the popup array: view.popup.features.push(response1); ....info from original post... which led me to this solution..... ... Except the default popup for all the other layers gets replaced with the special Node identify's popup's 'content' for the popup template. The parcels which I use the Node popup on, only appear when I zoom in to neighborhood scale. Once I do that, the Node popup shows up, but the defaultpopup gets killed. Interestingly, the defaultPopup actually does show up at first.... I added breakpoints in F12 and I see that it opens just fine from a click on the View. For example if I turn Zoning on, shows all its fields fine. Or Wetlands, etc. But... then the node IdentifyTask kicks in, and removes any and all Default popups, and then displays its own popup.

matt price awesome, great work! I did have to do one update.. toggling Group on/off did not work (for me). With a dynamic map service with some Groups and subGroups loaded as a mapImageLayer. I first noticed interestingly that Group layer items (parents with children or subchildren sublayers) were not showing up with checkboxes, at all. Just the triangle expand/minimize arrows. So there was no way to turn on layers in a group if the parent Group was off. So...I removed this chunk of CSS, below. Ok, so the Group checkboxes came back and appear as normally. But clicking the parent/group checkboxes doesn't do anything. https://codepen.io/kevinsagis/pen/RwajJRa .esri-layer-list__child-toggle + .esri-layer-list__item-label:not([role="radio"]) > .esri-layer-list__item-toggle { display:none; } However, the fix was that I deleted this part of a line: item.children.items.length === 0 && So instead of if (item.children.items.length === 0 && item.title != "Legend") { it's now just if (item.title != "Legend") { Now it works. Hope this helped everyone.

Good idea and I agree. I'd like to see the legend integrated into the JS API 4.x in the API LayerList widget officially. The WebApp Builder Layer List does have a good legend built in. It can be the example to follow. However, the user has to know to click the layers to see it. But, not a problem. I use jQuery to 'click' and expand some of the items with one or two legend symbols. Works great. (though watch the node IDs, they change when you readd services to the webmap) I keep the ones with a dozen or more minimized. With a tooltip advising to expand them to see the legend. So the way it works in WebApp Builder is fairly good, and I'd like to see it integrated into the 4.x API like how it is currently in WebApp Builder. Suggestion, when adding to 4.x JS API: It should be as easy to configure as Legend: "true" and then per each subLayer Expand: "true" for each, to determine if they are expanded. With an optional "ExpandedAll: "true" property to expand them all.
