Adam, how are you able to get your <4gb in size .tpk files read from the SD card? I tried to mimic what you said, I haven't tried the "root-symlink-workaround" yet, it hasn't quite worked. Is there any hope for having he .tpk files read from the SD card - hope I'm not asking you the same question.

I was looking to the SD card for direct storage of the large .tpk files. For example, my Samsung Galaxy Tablet has 16GB of onboard memory (of which 11GB is available) which is where the Collector folder is stored. I created a tile package which is 25GB and want to get it onto the tablet (I need 14GB more of space, which I don't have). Storing .tpk files on the SD card is the only way to do this. The root-mount-symlink is the only way to have the Collector app read and process the tile package - unless ESRI develops SD card compatibility. Do you see why I need that workaround?

Thank you for your response. This is exactly what I was envisioning as a work around. If SD cards were supported by the application, I imagine someone from ESRI immediately answering my question. I'm going to implement the root, mount, symlink workaround.

I am trying to use the "Box" app - which is very similar to "Dropbox", a cloud storage solution - to send tile packages (.tpk) to ESRI Collector for iOS. Unfortunately, "Box" and Collector do not (yet) communicate. Ultimately, I am attempting to bypass using iTunes to transfer .tpk files. Is there any possibility that ESRI Collector will be able to talk to "Box" one of these days? Anyone attempted to bypass iTunes? It is "not allowed" for most users within my agency. Thanks!

Hello all, I have researched into this topic, but have not found an updated answer. Has ESRI Collector for Android decided to support tile package (.tpk) storage on SD cards? I understand that there were performance issues with SD cards during testing. I would like to know if anyone has experimented with this or if Collector plans on including this feature in future iterations? I need to make a disclaimer that I have not tested saving .tpk files in an SD card - I wanted to check here first. Thanks, Kirk

Hello, I was curious about how ArcGIS Online & Collector handles feature services when they are used in several different web maps. Will the adding of a feature (point data) to the feature service in a map service automatically populate the other web maps (which have the same feature service in it - and obviously synced)? Ultimately, I want to create multiple map services that are identical (using the same feature service) so that my users can cache different areas in Collector and access them (different areas of the State) while working offline. Hopefully there is a quick answer to this! Thank you for reading this post! Kirk

Hi Russ, thanks for the heads up - I'll make that change and see how it goes. Do you think that I should change all of the required fields to "not required" while I'm making updates to avoid any other issues? Kirk

Hi Russ, Here is the group I created: ArcGIS Collector Support & Testing - WADNR - You have been invited to join! The only caveat is that my users were only able to generate the message some of the time and they tried filling in different parts of the form - there was no pattern regarding a missing "WAYPOINT_NAME" and an error or any of the attributes in combination. Hopefully, you are able to generate this error message as well. Also, this occurred when my users were in cached mode. Thanks! Kirk

Hello, I'll try to give a bit of background to this as I can, so as not to skew a neutral opinion. I have 3 users running a simple point collection map service on Collector (iOS) that are receiving an odd ERROR message when they attempt to update a feature service in disconnected editing mode (cached). The form that they populate is not completely filled for each point. I have attached two different error messages. An example of the error (if the attachments don't open immediately): "ERROR insert into "cone_survey_locations_evw" ("OBJECTID", "WAYPOINT_NAME",...(this list continues with all of the feature service input fields)) values (?, ?, ?, ?, ?....(continues with a bunch of questions marks, for each field presumably)) I read somewhere about there being issues with required fields in the file geodatabase? I know that I made their geodatabase with a few required fields. The confusing part is that the service has been working for a few days and now just won't save any points in the cached mode. I hope that you can shed some light on what these error messages are referring too! Thanks! Kirk
