Hi Craig and Cheryl, I have experienced the same problem with one-way and two-way replicas in our SDE databases. Versioned edits will be reconciled and posted to a parent feature class in the default of DB1 and a sync will be run to move those changes to the child feature class in DB2. Nothing will happen. I know the schemas have not been changed. The layers have not been deleted and created again. I just does not work. Any ideas? Kobe

Thank you Vince. We had an incident while I was on vacation where the whole database locked up and no one could edit. The person in charge that day ended up deleting all the versions, compressing the database and restarting the server. The error logs also showed nothing. So everything is fixed but we do not know the cause or if it will return. Thank you for your help. Kobe

Hi, I have a geodatabase that is in SDE 9.3 and SQL 2005. The data is versioned and 5 editors work on it daily. Is there a maximum number of states that can exist in the database? If so, what kind of problems can be created if this maximum number is exceeded? Thank you. Kobe

Thank you for your reply Vince. Once we finally move SDE to 10, we will see if the message disappears. Thanks again. Kobe

I was reading how ArcSDE, by default, sets the network packet size to 8,192k. This setting can also be made global to SQL Server. Has anyone changed this setting is SQL and did you see a difference in performance of your GIS databases? Kobe

So if all your users have direct connections to geodatabases, is the giomgr_esri_(gdb).log and sde_esri_(gdb).log useful anymore? Should I be reviewing the sdedc_(dbms).log instead? Also, when I go into my sdedc_SQLServer.log file it has the following message: SDE Server Release 9.2.0 is not compatible with the current Release 9.3.0. I am not sure what this means. Any ideas? Thank you, Kobe
