Thanks, Xander. If the plat numbers were stored as a related table would that help? Trying to figure out if our cadastral staff were willing to reconsider how they name the survey plat files or serve them up if we could achieve that one-to-many relationship and have multiple surveys linked in a pop up of a single point.

Under the Open button, I have the option to open the data in ArcGIS for Desktop. I'm aware that I can create a local copy for editing and get the data that way, but it renames the feature classes with the layer number (?) at the end. Download option only shows up under the Open button after you export the data to a file geodatabase (which I'm unable to do but literature suggests it should be possible Manage hosted web layers—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS I need to be able to download the data to QA/QC it in desktop since it's easier for the users, back it up, and then push it back to the server. I could have them open the data in ArcGIS for Desktop, create a local copy, QA/QC the data, and sync it with the feature service. But when I want to back up the data, I have to rename the feature classes and the name of the geodatabase itself since it downloads as a long string.

I have an AGOL hosted feature layer that I own and share with others. I want to allow them to download this feature layer as a file geodatabase to their desktop. I've shared the feature layer with the appropriate groups and in the details of the feature layer I have "Allowed others to export to different formats". However, when I sign in as another user who is a member of the appropriate group, the option to export the feature layer does not exist. Here are the details of the feature layer when I am signed in as the owner of the layer: And here are the details of the feature layer when I am signed in as a user who is a member of the LAKE_Restoration group: Why is there no option to export?

I'm trying to download a map in Collector that has one feature service that contains a point feature class and a related table. I am using AGOL hosted feature services that I created from a file geodatabase in ArcGIS 10.3.1. For Collector, I'm using it on an iPhone with iOS 8.4.1.The map download seems to fail no matter the area I try to download, and I have checked for bad geometry using the Check Geometry geoprocessing tool and there aren't any issues there. I have attached a screenshot of the error message which says "Unable to create replica. Please check you parameters. Exporting data for layer 1 failed." I tried a suggestion from another post of going into the item details of the map and disabling the Offline Mode property, then re-enabling it, and re-sharing it with my appropriate user groups, but that did not fix my issue. I'm trying to download a map with a considerable amount of data. The map starts to download and gets about 3/4 of the way done and then just hangs there for a while. Eventually (often hours later) I'll get the following error message: Map Download Failed Unable to download the map. You do not have permission to access the requested resource. I've been using the Tiled Basemaps group to find offline-ready basemaps. For example I used the http://tiledbasemaps.arcgis.com/arcgis/rest/services/USA_Topo_Maps/MapServer service for USA Topo Maps. But, I also made my own blank basemap that I've been substituting so that I can zoom in beyond level 20. Other than that, I know that my feature services and map are shared with the appropriate users. I'm using hosted feature services, and I've upgraded to Collector 10.3.2

I've got a new problem and I'm trying to figure out whether it's an IT issue or something I did. I use ArcGIS 10.2 + Trimble Positions Desktop + ArcPad extension. Up until recently everything was running smoothly, I was able to check out data, collect data, check it in, post process it, and update my collected features to a geodatabase. Recently, the last step in the workflow - the "Update Features" step - fails. Actually, it doesn't fail, it just doesn't work. I press the button and nothing happens. This is only occurring for one geodatabase that I use. Others will update, no problem. Has anyone experienced this before?

I'm trying to write a script that compiles all of the stuff I do to a geodatabase on a weekly basis. This includes: 1. Backing up the geodatabase 2. Renaming the backed up geodatabase to include a time/date stamp 3. Compacting the original geodatabase 4. Remove legacy accuracy data if data has been updated 5. Add/update XY coordinates for all point feature classes 6. Performing an attribute selection and then running the frequency tool on the selection to detect duplicate entries 7. Add the outputs from the frequency tool to an existing map document and join the tables to the appropriate feature classes I'm good through step 5 but I keep getting stuck on step 6 because of the need to make feature layers in order to do an attribute selection. I'm getting an AssertionError. Anyway, here's what I have: #TASK 4 - Access map document, make feature layers from all feature
#classes, perform selection, copy features to new fcs, run frequency
#tool on new fcs, add feature layers and frequency tables to map
#document, join frequency tables to feature layers
#Set variables
mxd = arcpy.mapping.MapDocument("S:\\GIS\\gis_work\\2014\\FLAG\\ArchGDB_Maint_Model\\GIS\\Script_Test\\Admin_Map2.mxd")
df = arcpy.mapping.ListDataFrames(mxd, "Layers")[0]
lyrList = arcpy.mapping.ListLayers(mxd, "*", df)
try:
for lyr in lyrList:
#Execute make feature layer for each feature class in map document
flyrList = arcpy.MakeFeatureLayer_management(lyr, "z"+str(lyr))
except arcpy.ExecuteError:
print arcpy.GetMessages()
try:
for flyr in flyrList:
#Execute select sites only
arcpy.SelectLayerByAttribute_management(flyr, "NEW_SELECTION", ' "SUBTYPE" = 1 ')

arcpy.env.workspace = r'S:\GIS\gis_work\2014\FLAG\ArchGDB_Maint_Model\GIS\Script_Test'

except arcpy.ExecuteError:
print arcpy.GetMessages()
try:
for flyr in flyrList:
#Execute frequency tool on new site only fcs based on ASMIS ID field
freqtabList = arcpy.Frequency_analysis(flyr, str(flyr)+"_freq", "ASMIS_ID")

print arcpy.GetMessages()

#Add frequency tables to map document

print arcpy.GetMessages()
#TASK 5 - Save map document and remove lock
try:
mxd.save()
del mxd
except arcpy.ExecuteError:

I have a dataset of ~100 archaeological sites (with x, y, and z values) and am trying to figure out which sites are visible from/to other sites. To do this, I first used the construct sight lines tool to create lines between all site pairs. Then, I used the line of sight tool and a 10-meter resolution DEM to figure out which sites are visible to others. If I understand the line of sight tool correctly, it is the TarIsVis field in the output feature class that indicates whether a target (site) is visible if there is a 1, and not visible if there is a 0. For a specific site, let's call it Site A, I'm getting the result that there are no sites that are visible from Site A. I know this isn't true because I've stood atop of Site A and could see to Site C, for example. Now I know that it's possible that the spatial accuracy of my coordinates or the resolution of the DEM could be causing this, so I did a viewshed analysis to compare. What I found doing the viewshed analysis doesn't make sense to me. I used Site A as the input point and the same 10-meter DEM that was used for the line-of-sight tool as the input raster. According to the output raster, the pixel that corresponds with Site C is WITHIN the viewshed of Site A. So why is there no line-of-sight from Site A to Site C according to the line of sight tool? Are they not synonymous?

Well I figured out what's causing my problem but I'm not sure why...I use the XToolsPro > Table Restructure > Add XYZ tool to add or update coordinates in my attribute table after post-processing. It seems after I run the tool, subsequent checkouts are missing the polygon features. I have to restore my geodatabase with a backup copy in order for the polygons to display in checkouts again.
