I did 800 square miles of Salt Lake County, Utah back in 2013 on 1 meter LiDAR. Yes, it's a heavy lift. I ran it for every month of the year on both Direct Hours and kwh/m2, so 24 individual runs. I was on 32 bit back then, 100 GB RAM, and 32 cores. That took a month running maxed out! You CAN run "embarrassingly parallel" but you need a Spatial Analyst license for each core you'll run. We have a site license, so I'm not limited by SA licenses. So "embarrassingly parallel" means you write a script for each run, and kick them off separately. Have the result write to separate file locations and merge afterward. Done.

Maybe python isn't needed much? Explode your parcels to individual segments, spatial join parcel segments to your roads. Now the shortest distance segment would be your frontage.

Arcade is the hot new item I hear. Could someone that uses it explain what it can do that can't be done in python label expressions? It's been touted that you could do math between fields and label the result without having to calculate a field to contain the results, but python can do that just fine. I do understand it's portable across ALL THE THINGS, but if I publish a service with python scripted labels, it'll show up in web apps, mobile, etc. Someone school me up please!

I know def queries quite well, but what's this Display Filter thing? Is it just combining the visible scale with a def query?

In ArcGIS Pro, if I use the ability to search for a package to add (pyodbc) it doesn't show up. Any ideas on how to get this going? Kev

Thanks. So what if I have a service that has some data copied to the server, and some data reference to sde that's registered in the datastore? I'd like to be able to get copied/referenced per layer in the service. Any idea on that?

I'd like to test all of my map services to see if the data source was copied to the server of if it's referenced. I haven't found the property in the python API just yet. Does anyone know where to find such a thing?

Coordinate systems is GCS_WGS_1984 in the map, and I added sr = arcpy.SpatialReference(4326) polygon = arcpy.Polygon(array, sr) And now I see in the properties that the coord sys are identical but I still get no entry in my log. I do log data from this addin's combo box selection change, but not this. Here's what I'm running. def onRectangle(self, rectangle_geometry): ext = rectangle_geometry array = arcpy.Array() array.add(arcpy.Point(ext.XMin, ext.YMin)) array.add(arcpy.Point(ext.XMin, ext.YMax)) array.add(arcpy.Point(ext.XMax, ext.YMax)) array.add(arcpy.Point(ext.XMax, ext.YMin)) array.add(arcpy.Point(ext.XMin, ext.YMin)) sr = arcpy.SpatialReference(4326) polygon = arcpy.Polygon(array, sr) arcpy.CopyFeatures_management(polygon, "in_memory//Polygon_Extent") arcpy.MakeFeatureLayer_management("in_memory//Polygon_Extent", 'selectLyr') arcpy.MakeFeatureLayer_management('events', 'eventsLyr') f = open(r'E:\ArcMap\BuildingServices\20180411_misassignedInspectors\addin\log.txt','a') f.write('what the hell?') f.close() arcpy.Delete_management("in_memory//Polygon_Extent") arcpy.Delete_management('selectLyr') arcpy.Delete_management('eventsLyr') Nothing is written to the log, but the polygon is created in the map, so the def is running. : (

How can I ensure the coordinate systems are the same. That's got to be it, but I'm stuck. The map where the tool is used is in state plane, and the event layer is projecting on the fly from wgs 84. When I'm creating the feature layer for the events there's no option to specify a different coordinate system.

Yes! I do get a count if I forego the selection. If I do the select by location the count is zero, with out it 258 which is correct.
