I am getting this error as well, but it is happening when I create a job in Workflow Manger 10.1. I am working with SQLServer 2008 R2. The configuration .jxl I imported when setting up this new WMX instance was from a Workflow Manager 10.0 instance. I suspect that might have something to do with it, but I have not been able to find anything that says this should/can be a problem. Everything I have seen online says importing .jxls from previous versions is supported.

Hadas, Thank you for the info, it does answer my question. I had neglected the controls on the Workflow tab and was focused only on the main application toolbar. It all works properly now that I know the correct button to press.

Tim, I have had success integrating more complex SQL queries (especially ones that need aggregate functions) into Workflow Manager by saving them as database views that are associated with the wmx schema. I am not very familiar with Oracle, but in SQL Server the view name ends up looking like wmx.VIEW_NAME. Once created, the view shows up just like a table in the Workflow Manager SQL editor for reports and queries. Maybe this can work for your SQL statement as well.

I have a series of "housekeeping" workflow steps (Reconcile and Post -> Delete MXD -> Delete Version -> Assign to User Group) that I would like to run without user interactions. According to this link that should be possible. http://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/2011/12/13/leveraging-geoprocessing-in-arcgis-workflow-manager-part-2/ However, none of the steps where I mark the "Automatically executes when reached" check box in the "Advanced Options" section actually starts when reached. I still have to click on the "Run Step" button in Workflow Manager. Are there any other system setting that need set to allow automatic execution of workflow steps? Does automatic execution only work on certain step types? I have attached an screen shot showing my current step settings. All four steps that I mention above have identical settings to the screen shot with the exception of the values in the "Execution Properties" and "Step Name" section.

After further experimentation, I found that this parameter does not have to be a "<fully qualified feature class name> " as I understood it from the help document, but rather just the name of a feature class in the job's Data Workspace database.

I am trying to create a custom Workflow Manager step that uses the DefenseMappingSteps.CreateChildJobsAdvancedStep Custom Step Object. Unfortunately, when I run the custom step I get an error saying "Invalid database name [WMXDB:WMX:GridFeatures]". This is because I am trying to use the OverlapFeatureClassName argument. In the Step Type Properties dialog the text in the Arguments field currently says: /aoiOverlapFeatureClassName:"WMXDB:WMX:GridFeatures". Can someone please point out what I am doing incorrectly? The only help document I can find (http://help.arcgis.com/EN/arcgisdesktop/10.0/help/index.html#//0105000002v8000000) says that the argument should be a "fully qualified feature class name" which I thought this was. I am using Workflow Manager 10 Build 379.
