Central San’s Asset Management team seeks to fill a temporary, 40 hour per week, Field Inventory Technician position. The position includes working independently, collecting surface sewer infrastructure (like manholes) data in streets, open land, and on private property using ArcGIS Field Maps. Speaking and coordinating with home and business owners to access sewer infrastructure on their land is required. Duties require working outside in a wide variety of temperatures, weather, and terrain conditions across Central San’s service area for the duration of the workday, as well as, working in the office to coordinate site visits, perform GIS data clean up, and other related tasks as assigned. Training, equipment, vehicle, and safety equipment is provided. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, values data quality, comfortable working independently, able to troubleshoot minor technology issues, and puts the public’s and their safety first. This candidate should have experience working with public in a professional, flexible, and patient manner. The ideal candidate for the Analyst position will have in-depth knowledge of GIS concepts and methods and hands-on experience in advanced GIS analysis and modeling. The ideal candidate will know: Principles, practices, and specialized methods for the use of GIS to perform automated mapping and facilities management Principles, practices, and methods related to cartographic design, coordinate systems, survey principles, and spatial operations Principles, practices, and methods related to database administration Applying GIS best practices, business processes and objectives And be able to: Use advanced software applications to perform technical analysis Train others in techniques and methods for using GIS mapping systems and spatial analysis, and cartographic principles Build strong, positive and effective working relationships, establishing trust and credibility with District staff For the complete job description, click here. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major work in geography, planning, computer science, engineering, or a related field. Experience: Two years of experience in performing digital utility designs and management and GIS analysis and cartographic output and two years of experience in system administration for a networked system supporting GIS operations. Substitution: A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for up to one year of experience required. Substitution for Education: Additional qualifying experience of the type noted above may be substituted for the required Bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis. Licenses and Certifications: -Possession of a valid California Driver's License. A valid out of state driver's license will be accepted during the application process.
