Hi, I have a Flex Viewer site showing Environmental constraints. I would like my users to be able to: a) draw a polygon graphic around their area of interest or b) use an exisiting polygon (from an editable polygon map service for example) Then I want a PDF report to be generated that shows which environmental constraints intersect their area of interest. Simple right...? 🙂 Aparently not! I've thought about using the clip and ship GP tool and somehow using the exported results to feed into a PDF report generator but I have no idea how to do this. I've also seen this: http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/arcgisonline/bao-api.html which looks promising although I don't need all the business analysis data so we wouldn't want to pay for a subscription. The drawing of the graphic and the actual report generation is exactly what I'm after but I'm not sure I can use this code without a BA account. I've also thought about leveraging the Report tools from ArcGIS Desktop (under View-Reports) but I'm not really sure how to do this either. I'm just starting to use the Flex API with Flash Builder although I'm fairly familiar with the Flex Viewer. This seems like it would be a really useful widget that I thought would have already existed, but I can't seem to find much out there. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated by me and the rest of the Flex Viewer community. Thanks in advance, Kathryn

Hi Robert, I know there has been a lot of questions about the <excludelayer> tag, but I can't seem to find an answer for my question. I was hoping you might be able to help! The <excludelayer> code appears to be working in that the sublayer isn't shown in the TOC, however when I turn on any of the other sublayers the one I've excluded turns on with the layer that is being turned on! For example, I'm trying to exclude the Powerlines layer. In the TOC, Powerlines isn't there which is as expected, however when I turn on, for example, Pipelines, the Powerlines data turns on as well as the Pipelines data. This isn't the expected result is it? I've tried with other map services and I get the same result. I'm using version 10.0, I haven't upgraded to any service packs yet. Could this be why it's acting strange? Thanks in advance for your help 🙂 CODE config: <layer label="Infrastructure" type="dynamic" visible="false" alpha="0.75" url="http://auper1gis01/ArcGIS/rest/services/ENV_DATA_GROUPS/Infrastructure/MapServer"> <sublayer id="0" popupconfig="popups/PopUp_Pipelines.xml"/> <sublayer id="1" popupconfig="popups/PopUp_Powerlines.xml"/> <sublayer id="2" popupconfig="popups/PopUp_RailwayStops.xml"/> <sublayer id="3" popupconfig="popups/PopUp_Railway.xml"/> </layer> TOCWidget.xml: <excludelayers > <excludelayer mapservice="Infrastructure">1</excludelayer> </excludelayers>

Hi Robert, I don't understand what you mean sorry. Are you saying you can't return related fields in your eSearch widget, even though your documentation says otherwise? In the documentation with the widget you write "The fields parent element contains all the individual field child elements that will be used for this particular layer. Everything for the field element is specified as an attribute of the element. The name attribute is the actual field name. If you are using a layer that contains a join than the full join field name should be used." I took this as meaning you would access a related field like below, where the field in the related table is named 'Client'. <fields all="false"> <field name="sde.SDE.MyTable.Client" alias "Client" gridfield="true"/> ... etc Sorry if I'm missing something here! Thanks for your help so far... Cheers, Kathryn

Thanks so much for this thread. I was tearing my hair out trying to work out why my relationship wasn't showing up in my REST end point. After reading this, I simply added the related tables to my MXD and re-published to server, and now the relationship is visible. Thank you!

Excellent, thanks for your fast response Robert. I'll look into the widget. Another related question: in the 'Enhanced Search Widget XML Configuration.pdf' I notice in your explanation about the 'fields' parent element, you write: "If you are using a layer that contains a join than the full join field name should be used" I hadn't noticed this before I asked my original question. Would this apply to a relationship existing in SDE or only to joins? Thanks again, Kathryn

Hi folks! I'm relatively new to the Flex Viewer but I'm having fun with it so far. I've implemented the eSearch widget by rscheitlin and have also go the Edit widget to work. Now to my question: I have a feature service set up in SDE, which is in a 1:1 relationship to a table in SDE. Does anyone know if there is a way to access the attributes of the related table in flex viewer - either in the edit widget or some kind of search/identify widget? I have a feeling the answer is probably no, but best thought I ask anyway. I'd rather not have to learn the Flex API and programatically do it... but I might have to! Thanks very much in advance. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Kathryn
