Thanks, seems you must be right. Strange this isn't possible as there are lots of tools that work on "selected" layers but I guess these tools use other APIS.

Hi folks Using ArcPy I would like to get a list of the selected layers from the contents of the active ArcGIS Pro Map. I don't see a property or method for this on Layer nor on cim_layer returned by getDefinition on a layer object. It seems it was previously possible with pythonaddins. Any ideas appreciated Thanks

I am late to the party here but in my case I was able to use ArcGIS Server Manager after the fact to Enable Feature Access.

While Paul's work-around is certainly appreciated this is not a solution and Esri really needs to deal with this. The problem is affecting many users for literally years and exists in the current version 3.1.2! What do I do when I hear my computer fan? I check for ExcelToSQLite64 processes left behind by ArcGIS Pro and 90% of the time this is the reason. Sometimes there are multiple. Seriously Esri this is a real issue which needs to be addressed in a professional way and not by expecting your users to install a random C# app created by a user.

Yes thanks a lot Scott for confirming this is missing. That was kind of my guess as well, that the Export functionality is missing for registered databases. And indeed I can confirm it makes no difference in ArcGIS Pro. It was within Map Viewers I has hoping to allow it. I don't see anything in the documentation the suggests this export should not be available so I whether this is "by design" or an oversight I'm not sure but in any case over to Esri I guess.

Ah yes, maybe I am using the wrong terminology here. The geodatabase source is indeed registered with the server. I'll edit the original post to make this more clear.

Thanks for the reply but I don't think this is case. We have many services, some with editing enabled based on both a managed database and datastores, all of this works fine. Esri is well aware of this architecture and supports it. I do agree "we were encouraged to copy/migrate the data from managed databases to data stores" but not that "they have no real place in a current AGE".

Hi Folks, We have shared a "managed" [edit: "registered" geodatabase ] feature layer (i.e. the data is coming from an enterprise geodatabase) with Feature and Map enabled and "Export" checked when publishing. I have also verified "Export" is checked in the ArcGIS Server Manager. One the Portal website I would like to allow users to export data (from the Portal site) but this option does not seem to be available in Item details. The option is available for hosted layers. Is this not possible with a managed data source? Thanks very much ArcGIS Portal on Server 10.9.4.

Thanks a lot for this Josh, Indeed Esri has suggested hosted services are faster also. I think we kind of knew this but it has been a priority for us to stick with "managed" databases. I guess we may need to rethink that a bit. We'll need to take a look at adjusting those cache settings for our ArcGIS Pro users. All the best Ken

Thanks a lot for this Andrew, In fact we recently upgraded to 10.8.1 (I should add this to initial post). But your suggestion about shared vs dedicated instance is worth looking into again. We have been juggling that a bit and in this particular case the service uses a dedicated instance. Cheers Ken

Hi Folks, We have an ArcGIS Enterprise Server (version 10.8.1) hosting many Map services most of them based on managed data sources (SDE). One of the editable services (lets call it world_edit) is used heavily by about 12 ArcGIS Pro users for both view and edit. This service has very poor performance including issues like: very slow loading of features layers not loading at all definition queries failing service not responding at all (without a restart) failure to sync when taken offline in ArcGIS Pro Additional Information: we see from the server statistics that this world_edit services sometimes creates 1000s of requests to the REST service even when just one or two users are access it this service also seems to impact/slow or other services resulting wider problem to our infrastructure. 4 instances with 8 max are assigned to this service the available CPU is significant both for the server and the database Version 10.8.1 Dedicated instances Thanks for any feedback, Ken
