Thanks BobBooth1. Between the tutorials list you sent and Ken Field's book, and outside readings, I should be able to construct a decent syllabus. Also, Joseph Kerski reminded me that Business Analyst Web App is also a good source for voter and donor socioeconomic data. That can help with messaging. Jim

Hi again SaraJL Joseph Kerski reminded me that Ken Field's book "Thematic Mapping; 101 inspiring ways to visualize empirical data" contains many examples of how thematic mapping can be used to communicate election data. It should be helpful, especially for undergraduates.

Thanks, Sara. I'll keep you posted on what I find out. I would be an adjunct at this university so if and when I'm asked to teach, I'll definitely reach out the research librarians. That's a great suggestion. Also, as political campaigns resemble fundraising efforts by non-profits, especially early on, that's also a potential source of pedagogical material. I also reached out to Joseph Kerski, who you may know as a fantastic source for teaching in the GIS field.

Hello All, I may also be teaching a political science course for the fall 2024 and/or Spring 2025 semester. I’d like to focus the course on the use of GIS in campaigns and elections and/or public affairs. Maybe fundraising as well. Can anyone recommend a textbook or an appropriate syllabus for use in the course? I checked the ESRI Press site and I didn't find anything suitable. This would be for a university's undergraduate political science department so a text is preferred but an appropriate reading list would also be helpful. I might need to make sure the students can work with Pro and Online if that helps. Thanks for any help or guidance. Jim

Hello All; Our friend Joseph Kerski was able to point me in the right direction and recommended the Spatial Business: Competing and Leading with Location Analytics book along with a rich trove of ESRI resources. I'm confident I have what I need.

Hello, I’ve been asked to teach a marketing research course for the fall 2024 semester and I’d like to focus the course on the use of GIS. Can anyone recommend a textbook or an appropriate syllabus for use in the course? I know ESRI Press did publish a GIS Tutorial for Marketing textbook but the most recent edition apparently is from 2007. This would be for undergraduates in a university's business school so a business-focused text is strongly preferred. I might need to make sure the students can work with Pro and Online if that helps. Thanks for any help or guidance. Jim

Hi Jozsef; Try this site: DIVA-GIS Click on the country level data link, select Hungary, and for Subject, select Administrative areas and then download. Extract to a folder of your choice. HUN_adm0 is the country border. Open the .shp file for the boundary file you need in Pro, and then right-click the layer. Select attribute table, open the attribute table, select the county of your choice (Heves). Right click the layer (HUN_adm1), and then from the Selection menu, click Make Layer From Selected Features. Repeat the process for HUN_adm2.You can change the basemap to show cities and towns more clearly by zooming in. If you're working in ArcGIS Online, you can add the Hungary country border and all of the smaller administrative boundaries by searching for and adding each layer from ArcGIS Online. I hope this helps. Jim Wooten

Hi, Debashish; That's fine. The ability to view the entire contents including the web maps and layers on the mobile app would have been a helpful convenience but not really necessary. Most of the time, I present off the online desktop version and that shows what I need. The most important aspects are likely to be the infographics and reports for the client. Thank you. Jim

Hi, For this project, I have the layers I need and they all appear on the online desktop version of BAO. Importantly, the contents in the red box (Web Maps and Layers) appear on the map as desired. See "Web app vs. mobile" screen shot. On the mobile app, however, the items in the red box do not appear. See the screen shot, "AC Airport Project TOC mobile app android." Why do the Web Maps and Layers content not appear on the mobile app TOC (and therefore can't be shown on the mobile version of the map) and how can that be fixed? Thank you.

This did not resolve the issue. The Facts page did not load, The Infographics tab returned "No Data" as before, the Compare Site page did not load. Also, I did not have the SpendingFacts USA item in All My Content so it could not be deleted. I did delete the BA Preferences Web Mapping Application item and logged out. When I logged back in, the BA Preferences item returned.

I use the default login option to sign in to ArcGIS Online. I do not have the Enterprise version. I'm at the "Basic" licensed level. Yes, I'm referring to the Business Analyst Web app using a browser on my desktop computer. Thanks.
