Hi, My IT guy is asking me how much disk space I need for an install of Server v10.1. I don't see anything listed on the system requirements. Could anyone help me out? Thanks, Justin

Thanks for the link to the article. After reading it and talking to our sys admin, I think that we've got an issue with group policy, and that the right to log on as a service is being revoked for the arcgis user account. I've got a ticket in with our IT department, and a ticket in with ESRI. If I come up with a solution, I'll post it here. On a side note, we discovered that if we add the arcgis user account to the administrators group, the ArcGIS Server service starts up with no problem. Unfortunately, IT won't allow us to keep the arcgis user in the administrators group. If you know or can think of any workaround, I'd be happy to hear it.

I began testing ArcGIS 10.1 for Server last week, and everything seemed to be running fine. Then, when I came in this morning, nothing works. My services won't load on my web app. When I try to get to Manager or my Services Directory I get the following message: "The remote device or resource won't accept the connection." When I try to start the ArcGIS Server service I get the following message: "Error 1069: The service did not start due to a logon failure." Does anybody know what's going on here? Thanks, Justin

I have no idea what happened, but all of a sudden none of my layers will load. Here's the error message: SOD layer failed to load:Fault Code: Server.Error.Request Fault Info: HTTP request error Fault Details: Error: [IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2032"]. URL:http://IIADDENDLWP32901/ArcGIS/rest/services/AMV/SOD/MapServer?f=json I can log onto my server through ArcCatalog, and all of my services are running. Anyone run into this before? Thanks, Justin I ran a "Repair" on my ArcServer, and that seems to have fixed the problem.

Hi Angie, I don't have an answer for your question, but I was wondering where you downloaded the Developer's Guide from. Do you have a URL?

Every time a popup window opens, it opens to the right of the feature I click on, which puts it underneath any widget that is open. Is there any way to change it so that the popup window opens to the left of the feature, or opens on top of the widget? Thanks, Justin

Robert, That's funny... in the problems window it says to use 'appEvent'. Anyhow, I tried 'AppEvent', and got this error message: Type 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type com.esri.viewer:AppEvent to an unrelated type String. Here's the line of code it's referring to: AppEvent.dispatch(new AppEvent(AppEvent.WIDGET_RUN, widgetItem.id));

Robert, Thanks for your help. Changing ViewerContainer.addEventListener to 'AppEvent.addListener' seems to have worked, but I'm running into a problem when changing 'ViewerContainer.dispatchEvent' to 'appEvent.dispatch'. When I make the change, I get an error message that says: Type 1120: Access of undefined property appEvent. Any ideas?

Hi everyone, I finally got around to updating my Viewer to 2.5, but I've run into a small issue. In my old viewer, I had made some changes to the source code in the HeaderController widget and the StaticImage widget. When I updated to 2.5, I just copied and pasted those two widget folders into my new project, and the following warnings popped up: Type 3606: 'addEventListener' has been deprecated. Please use 'AppEvent.addListener'. and Type 3606: 'dispatchEvent' has been deprecated. Please use 'appEvent.dispatch'. When I go to the place where the first error is located, the code is: ViewerContainer.addEventListener(AppEvent.WIDGET_STATE_CHANGED, widgetStateChangedHandler); Can I just change the code to read: AppEvent.addListener(AppEvent.WIDGET_STATE_CHANGED, widgetStateChangedHandler); or will that make things go crazy? Thanks for the help, Justin

Alex, I didn't change anything more than that file. I did figure this out, though (kind of). I just had to fiddle around with the width and height properties of the image I replaced the label with, and at "50" the shifting stopped. Not an optimal solution but looks fine, and works for me.

I modified my HeaderController to shorten it up, but now when I roll over the widget icons, it shifts back and forth from left to right. Is there any way to get it to stay in place?

Hello, ESRI has posted a great blog about how to create print services. There are 3 examples, each increasing in functionality, including being able to print graphics. The link is http://blogs.esri.com/Dev/blogs/arcgisserver/archive/2011/04/12/An-introduction-to-arcpy.mapping-for-ArcGIS-Server-developers.aspx While the client side examples use the esri js api, they could be easily portable to a FLEX widget. I will be creating a widget in one of my up coming projects but I'm not sure exactly when in the dev process I'm going to implement that functionality. I will post when it's complete though. In the meantime, I hope that blog helps. Hmmmm, I have not looked at the current widget, but I suspect, like the ESRI blog, the power is in the print service, It's quite possible all you would have to do is subplant the ESRI print service for the current one and use most of the current widget to make the new call with updated parameters. Again, I have not looked at the widget so I could be way off Harold, Thanks for pointing me to that blog entry. Unfortunately, I'm still too wet behind the ears to understand most of what's said there. I am excited to hear that you'll be developing a widget of your own, though, and even more excited to hear that you'll be sharing it with the community. I'll look forward to seeing it whenever you get around to developing it. Justin
