Turning the field on by configuring the pop-up also makes it appear if a user views the attribute table in the map too, in case anyone is interested in this same topic.

Ok, thanks. I see the Creator field now when I go to the Data tab, as you describe, with a Lock symbol. I also found that I can configure the pop-up for this layer in a map so that the Creator field shows up in the pop-up instead of staying hidden, as is the default.

I've created a Crowdsource Story Map and had several users submit test photos/locations. Is there a way to see the user ID of who submitted each photo? I can't seem to figure out how to do this. Don't see it in the resulting attribute table. Thanks

Ok, got it. I figured it was something quick and easy, just didn't know where to look. I didn't realize different styles affected your range of color choices but I guess it makes sense. Thanks, Jon

I recently was assisting a GIS beginner with a project, and I noticed that when she went to Fill Color in the Symbol Selector window that she had numerous many more color choices than the standard 10X12 color grid that I've always had with ArcGIS. She did not know how she got all these choices as she had not done anything special to get more color choices. She has the same version of ArcGIS I have (10). I've since tried to play around with the settings to see what I need to do to increase my color grid options but can't figure it out. I know I can click on More Colors to get a window with RGB sliding bars, but what she had was just a larger color grid, which I find quicker and easier to use than the RGB sliding bars. Can anyone please tell me how to get a larger color grid with more color choices in Fill Color (and Outline Color for that matter)? Thank you, Jon

I am trying to complete the "Create a hydrologically correct surface" exercise from "Introduction to Surface Modeling Using ArcGIS 10" course on ESRI's web training. I have followed the steps in the exercise through Step 4 (Create a surface area using feature data), which involves running the Topo to Raster tool. However, when I run the tool, it runs until it gets to the point when the status bar says "Topo to Raster 100%" but it never actually finishes and no Elevation file ever shows up in the target geoDB (in this case, Scratch.gdb). We tried this tool from another machine in our office and had the same problem. It just gets hung up and never finishes. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem? Both of us have ArcGIS 10.

I have a suggestion, not so much as a question. I really like ArcGIS Explorer for the Desktop and have become an active advocate for the product at our office. While it still seems a little buggy and unstable at times, overall I think the tool is great and I've converted many Google Earth users to the AGX side. I've even installed it on my home computer and use it to plan and record notes about camping and paddling trips. However, I still have one big thing I would change with AGX and that is to allow users to view the complete metadata for shapefiles/geoDBs/layer files that are in the project. I understand AGX is meant to be a light spatial data viewer and that users can view the general description, but I really think users need to be able to access the full details about a dataset, such as explanations of attribute fields, special codes, limitations, etc that aren't always in the general description. Ideally, a user would just right-click on a layer in the table of contents and have a choice for View Metadata, as you can in ArcGIS. If an add-in or work around for this has been designed, please let me know, but I would suggest making it part of the standard AGX software. Thanks for considering this! Jon Atlanta, GA

Thank for very much for running the reports. I'll check them to see if they seem to make sense. When I tried to run them it took forever and then a window came up that simply said, "Error" and nothing else. Anyway, thank you these are great. I will be telling others about the Community Analyst.

Mark, thanks. Yes, the problem was I was trying to identify features in layer files that did not have HTML PopUp activated. Once I set that in the layer file, it fixed my problem (most of the time that is--still occasionally have problems that can't seem to be fixed even by activating the PopUp in the layer file). Also, I should have said single-click, not double-click of course.

I am using AGX Build 1500. I am trying to simply perform the classic Identify task where you use the Identify button to click on a feature to get the tabular info for that feature. Build 1500 doesn't appear to have an Identify button. In my notes from when I took the AGX online tutorial I wrote that to Identify a feature, you need to double-click on the feature and an Identify popup window will come up. However, when I try this now double-clicking on a feature only seems to re-center the map. I don't see any Identify window--is it perhaps hidden somewhere that I can't see? If so, how do I get it to reappear. Please help! I know this is a pretty elementary task, but I can't seem to find an answer on how to do it anywhere, even in the Help. Thanks, Jon
