Hi David, Right now, it feels like Esri have dropt a half-finished product on to the market. In relation to webapp builder, it also seems to be missing lots of widget functions. Can just be that I am understanding configuration of webapps in this tool wrong. Next couple of releases you say, can you be somewhat more precise. As we primarily work with the Portal for ArcGIS we like to know in what version of Portal we can expect to have the ability to create custom widgets? 10.9.1? 2022? Will there be some way to update only the Experiense builder to get the latest abilities? Jonas

I have the same problem and it is not possible to remove the items using the sharing endpoint. I would guess that it is something that is still in the Postgre DB store for the Portal that will not allow it self to be removed. Anyone that know of any tool that can check trough the portal for null item and remove them by force?

Hi Melanie, Have you figured this out or got some help from ESRI support service? I have seen the same error on my end, after some investigation, I found that the patch "Portal for ArcGIS 10.7.1 Enterprise Sites 2 Patch" was the cause for the error. Is it/was it the same for you? Regards, Jonas

Hi Hilary, Thanks for responding! The problem is as I mentioned, “If a user is given any administrator privileges in the Portal this becomes translated as administrative privileges of all federated GIS Server”. Due to information security demands within the organization we cannot allow any other staff than the management of the platform to have any administration privileges in the GIS portal, and dose cannot also be the curators of the content. This("Mark as Authoritative") is not the only limitation we get of this design, e.g. the “Create with update capabilities” group privileges is stuck as an administrator task to create, manage and own, and could be critical for a successful transition from file based sharing/managing of GIS content. Both of those abilities should in my mind, not be an administrative privilege as long as an administrative portal privilege gives mentioned access to federated servers. Regards, Jonas

I just found out that the mark as authoritative options in the Portal for ArcGIS is limited to the Portal administrators. I have been reading some other information and I get that it can be reasonable that not all can set this value, especially on AGOL. In our organization, we have a clear separation between the data owner and the organization that maintain and manages the Portal. A data owner is not allowed to have admin privileges, this comes by the reason that we have many departments some with higher security requirements. If a user is given any administrator privileges in the Portal this becomes translated as administrative privileges of all federated GIS Server. In other words they get access to all published services. This is another topic, but I can’t get why and would like to see a better separation of portal and server administrative privileges in the future. I would like to suggest that a general privilege becomes implemented for roles like an organization data provider, including the ability to “mark as authoritative”.

Hi, This is really an interesting app(site) builder. But I am worried that this will replace the current Web AppBuilder in Online/Enterprise. Is it a complete replacement of the current or will this be added as an additional app builder? I like to know if our current intentions to build widgets will be wasted time and money or will that still be there when Experience Builder are released? Regards, Jonas

Hi Lemao, Yes, your suggestion works fine, however this is not a easy to use or intuitive way to work with go to XY. It is such a simple tool that would make it much simple for non-map nerds to undersand. Now all need to understand x before y and then the current ?WKID?... It is perhaps a simple workaround for us that live and breathe map technology. However I had a feeling that one of the most important use cases for the Portal and Web Appbuilder was to make it easy not to be a GIS wizzard.

Hi Jake, Thanks for your quick response. I have however successfully found another way to migrate the data and keep the relations intact that I think is easier. You answer will however solve some other tasks I am dealing with. What I did is, I exported the schema and re-created the tables in the new DB, activated the archiving, then populated them using FME and SQL reader/writers, dbo for attachments and spatial for the features. Last I had to re-calulate the spatial index for the tables. What I can see so far there is no issues with the data and the attachment relations is intact. Do you know of any dangers with the way I have move the data? I do think that it would be good if Esri developed a tool that can migrate from DB to DB an entire archived table and/or attachments if it exists with a single tool, that is able to maintain the existing relations and still be archived. Regards, Jonas

I´m trying to move a feature class and an related attach table to a new geodatabase. As dose tables are used for field collection I set them as archived to enable feature server and the sync capability. The problem with archived data is that the Geodatabase connection will not allow me to access all data available in the tables, only dose that are currently valid according to GDB_TO_DATE or that is within a given point of time according to both GDB_FROM_DATE and GDB_TO_DATE. Is there an easy Esri solution on how to move the tables and keep all data in the transfer?
