Kind of a crazy thought, but since App Studio Desktop was built with App Studio and is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux - is there any reason it can't be compiled for iPads? Think about that...with an AppStudio Desktop for iPad, one would be able to do their development on a truly mobile device. For compiling, you could use cloud make. For an IDE, Textastic would probably work well and tI've heard a native VSCode for iPad might be in the works. AppStudio player is already available for iPad as well. Maybe there are more technical complications I'm not considering but I think being able to develop a native mobile application using only an iPad would be a pretty neat feature.

Sure. That's really no different though, is it? Its still a system that needs to always be powered on and running. You already have that in Portal. Not to mention the hassle of updating options files, rereading licenses, managing extensions - it could all be done through a Portal interface and if you are cool with Named User Licensing for Pro, then in fact it can. Still a major oversight in my opinion which Esri seems to have no intention of resolving.

Thanks @jcarlson. I actually knew that! Still, it would be an improvement to not have to download and install S123Connect for such simple functionality. S123Connect is really suited for implementing advanced functionality, styling, conditions and such. Personally, I wouldn't say referencing an existing webmap is particularly "advanced". I've updated the idea to be more clear though!

While already possible to do using Survey123 Connect, a great enhancement for the web designer would be the option to specify a specific web map to display instead of using a standard empty web map when configuring a map/geopoint question. Custom web maps would have additional contextual layers in the web map which might aid users completing a survey, for example if a survey response had already been submitted reporting something, a feature could be displayed in the webmap and the user completing the survey would see that when they visited the location where they wanted to report something.

It would be great to see a basemap widget added to the Survey123 webform. I believe this is already present on the native apps. Where's the basemap switcher widget?

@Ismael or @JamesTedrick I'm seeing this hasn't been added yet. Any news on when this might be implemented? Seems like such a small and simple feature to add, though I'm sure I am glossing over a good number of complexities and that if it were simple, it would have been done. It would be very nice to see the Map/Geopoint question have options for all of those JSAPI widget controls so that we could toggle only certain controls on/off. Another nifty capability would be to be able to configure the question to use a specific web map.

@Anonymous User, @Anonymous User @AndrewChapkowski or @RohitSingh2 I also have this question. The documentation for the executeNotebook operation is listed under 'Enterprise Administration', which is a bit confusing when it comes to AGOL, given that AGOL != ArcGIS Enterprise. So the original question stands - Is it possible to execute an ArcGIS Notebook, hosted on ArcGIS Online, using the executeNotebook operation in the REST API? That is, not using scheduling, but using the executeNotebook operation to run the notebook on demand, by calling it via the REST API. If so, where is this documented or can someone provide an example? If it is not documented, can we get some guidance please because I would like to do this but am having trouble locating the operation endpoint on ArcGIS Online.

I'm publishing a feature layer from a spatially-enabled dataframe using the .to_featurelayer method on the GeoAccessor class. Works great, no issues there. One of the columns in my SDF contains a comma-separated list of "amenities" for each feature. Obviously, the number of amenities varies by location. When attempting to update a record, I'd found that none of the records in my publish contained the maximum number of amenities, the field length was set to a lower length than what I might need in the future. Is there a way to explicitly set the field length when publishing through the Python API? I've looked through the documentation and don't see an obvious way to do this but I'm hoping I've missed something.

I am trying to keep my credit usage minimal on ArcGIS Online. I have a standard python notebook that reaches out to an API, makes a query , pushes the query results into a spatial dataframe and then either updates a feature layer if it already exists, or if not, publishes the feature layer. Everything works, its great. However, I noticed my credit balance dropping a little faster than I'd like. So I wanted to take a look at whether I was using the most appropriate feature layer type. I took a look at the Understanding Credits documentation, specifically Credits by Capability and noted that Feature Storage is charged at a rate of 2.4 credits per 10MB stored, calculated hourly while Feature Collection storage is charged at a rate of 1.2 credits per 1GB stored, calculated hourly. That's a significant savings, but I am confused. Capability Example of where used Credits used Feature storage, excluding feature attachments, feature collections, and features associated with location tracking Store a hosted feature layer 2.4 credits per 10 MB stored per month, calculated hourly Note: Feature layer settings, such as Enable Sync and Keep track of created and updated features, can increase storage size over time. Storage of all content, excluding hosted feature layers and content in ArcGIS Notebooks Store web maps Store feature collections Store attachments in a hosted feature layer Store published vector tile layers from ArcGIS Pro Store scene layer packages from ArcGIS Pro 1.2 credits per 1 GB stored per month, calculated hourly Feature Storage cites the example of storing a hosted feature layer - makes sense. Meanwhile, storage of all content, excluding hosted feature layers and content in ArcGIS Notebooks cites multiple different examples, including storing Feature Collections. In my python notebook, I create a Feature Layer from a spatial dataframe already populated with x/y coordinates and attributes using: which produces a Feature Layer Collection. All is good. But then I look in My Content in my organization and the item type is shown as Feature Layer (hosted). So which is it? A Hosted Feature Layer or a Feature Layer Collection? Am I going to be charged 2.4 credits per 10MB/month or 1.2 credits per 1GB/month for my Feature Layer Collection/Feature Layer (hosted) item. OR am I thinking about Feature Collections wrong and the Feature Layer collection is actually the Shapefile that was generated, which the Feature Layer (hosted) was then created from and the Shapefile is what costs 1.2 credits per 1GB/month while the Feature Layer (hosted) costs 2/4 credits per 10MB/month.

Thank you so much @emedina! With your guidance, I was able to get it to work. It's interesting, apparently the gis parameter on FeatureLayerCollection is not so optional. If I left it off, I would get errors, even though the GIS object is already instantiated in a previous cell. The other thing I thought was unexpected was that simply using the featureLayer.url would not suffice because that resolves to the first layer in the collection (eg. .../FeatureServer/0), but it actually needs the Collection so I had to use featureLayer.container.url.

@jcarlson thanks for the response. I realize the thread was resolved, that was why I asked on the same thread because if its resolved, then I must be doing something wrong. Last time I checked, properties are supposed to tell you something about an object's state, while python methods are supposed actually do something. What I don't understand is why there is a documented disable() method on the user object. The disable method is documented in the latest version of the API documentation which I linked to above. Either I am doing something wrong in my code above, or this disable() method on the user object is not functional. I'm just trying to figure out which.

@DavidPike, @AndrewChapkowski or @RohitSingh2 am I missing something here? user.disable() is clearly documented as a method that can be used to disable a user's login access: https://developers.arcgis.com/python/api-reference/arcgis.gis.toc.html#arcgis.gis.User.disable Yet the following code: users = [user for user in gis.users.search(query="username: testuser")]
for user in users:
print("Disabling " + user.fullName)
user.disable() results in ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

@RohitSingh2 I'm running into a similar problem. While your answer above is good and understandable, I'd offer that if Esri is going to require bs4, the least they can do is make it part of the default Pro env so that I don't have to clone and create a new env, then set it as the default env, just to use a documented feature that should "just work"
