I was able to get it to fire after getting a newer pair delivered to us (demo). The cable is different as well. You will just need to play with the COM settings until ArcPad recognizes input.

Hello everyone, I am new to Eclipse. I am trying to learn it step by step. I am trying to create an ArcGIS app for Android using "Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers". I followed this tutorial , and noticed this sentence: "Be sure to have an Android device connected to the machine. We do not support running in an Emulator." My question is >>> How can I test my app? Is what have been mentioned is true?! I think that this tutorial is old because they are talking about old SDK version. I thought about using the Eclipse's Emulator, and I tried it, but the app didn't work properly!! I am confused right now; because I don't know whether the problem is that: 1) ArcGIS apps don't work on Emulator! 2) or My code is wrong! Thanks. From what I understand - The emulator is no longer supported. I thought this would have been addressed by now. I agree. the lastthing you really want to do is compile an application and test on a device. Sketchy. Might need to use an older device for testing?

The 21's work great. You shouldn't have a problem pairing them up with ArcPad. You should be able to set the extension for Leica Vector and use default Com Port 1 if you are using a serial cable. 😉

I have been testing an older "Leica" Vector 1500 Laser product (no bluetooth capability) using Communication Port COM1 and COM2. After downloading a port monitoring program I was able to view communication while the Range finder tool was active in ArcPad. However, while running the Rangefinder Debug tool - I am not able to view any text (blue, red.) I tried running a null modem adapter with no success either. I am beginning to think that the Leica Locator/Vector Protocol is not recognizing the data transfer from the rangfinders. Maybe they are too old. I have also tried activating other extensions and I have tried many variations for Baud, Parity, etc. 1. Has anyone used later products from Vectronix (i.e. Vector IV "Bluetooth", Vector 21, Moskito etc.) and have been successful with pairing ArcPad 10x? 2. Resources? Thanks In Advance.

Hi I also have a Leica Vector 1500 here for testing. I have installed ArcPad 10.0.3 on a windows 7 64 bit dev. machine. I have tried all of the baud rates with no success resulting with zero text in the range finder debug window. We are hoping to have the Vector IV, and a mosquito here for testing at a later time. However, I need to find a way to communicate as a proof of concept. Any suggestions would be appreciated. p.s. I do get a signal through com port 2 using a port monitoring program. Again. ArcPad see's nothing?

I have Leica Vector Range finder. I tested the port communication and I am receiving a signal. However - ArcPad 10.0.3 is not seeing anything in debug mode. I have tried 9600 and 4800. Also tried the correct range finder extension. Any suggestions would be appreciated greatly.

BTW- Using parcels (X,Y centroids - containing situs attributes) will work in postage stamp blocks. One will run into problem if there are shared easements or if access to the road for a specific parcel is not where the mailbox should be. This causes havock with emergency responders in non-rural areas.

Thanks - I figured it out. I have an almost complete centerline (split-node to node) with address ranges that were manually entered using assessor books for left and right situs address ranges. The street direction for each segment is corrected too. In my case (for this specific task) I only needed to geocode the actual left side of the road and right side of the road using only the "address ranges". I know it sounds redundant - However, I too had the need for unique "geocoded address ranges" to be imported into a dispatch type system. It was fairly straight forward.

Chan, Did you figure this out yet. I too would like to offset the point for each range. I have special districts that share topology with centerlines and are address dependant. (example: Left Range falls in one district. Right range falls in a different district) TIA
