I've got a tool that runs on the desktop and publishes on the server but fails at the REST endpoint. This makes me think there is something in the gp service but these are fairly straightforward things and I see nothing obvious. The log file of the gp service indicates an IOError with accessing a SDE table: does not exist. But I fail to see how this can be since not only is the .sde connection a registered dataset but I can run the actual published tool that Esri places on AGS just fine. I could use some ideas, I will check anything out at this point.

I'm having two issues with a print gp service: a) I've tried removing print formats EPS and SVGZ from the print gp service by unchecking these values in the format settings of the service editor; and b) I've tried removing 2 layout templates and MAP_ONLY by unchecking these values in the layout template settings of the service editor. Each time I finish analyzing and publishing a .sd or saving a service definition file and publish using tools the REST endpoint/application includes the entire set of print formats [ PDF, PNG32, PNG8, JPG, GIF, EPS, SVG, SVGZ ] and also includes every MXD in the template folder, as well as MAP_ONLY. I can eventually remove the unneeded MXD files from the template folder, which should remove them permanently from the template list, so that's not really a long term issue. Anyone experience the same thing? Anyone know how I can get the service to show only the print formats I want? Thanks.

Actually, I solved the timeout of exported large file sizes by changing the timeouts of a number of configuration files, which didn't affect application performance. The configurations that I changed were: web.config at REST api timeout = 1200 NAM gateway gateway timeout to 1200 web.config for application timeout timeout value = 1200000 execution timeout = 1200000

arcpy.CopyFeatures_management(pubschema+sLine, outputdir+"/"+env+"/"+sLine) #copy to new I'm using an SDE connection file, a copy of the exact one that is used to connect to SDE through ArcCatalog on the same computer. I shouldn't think this would be an issue (it's not for other connection files or this one in AC) and the keyword is in the connection file but I will take a look. The script syntax works but balks on schema names that include an underscore. Might be barking up the wrong tree but it's a place to start. Thanks.

The best that I can narrow down is that my script is failing because of underscores in my SDE schema names. (All other schemas & tablespaces, both spatial and tabular, without underscores run through the process just fine.) The error returned to the python shell: "ExecuteError: Failed to execute. Parameters are not valid. ERROR 000732: Input Features: Dataset X222_TRN_MST.GIS_POINTS does not exist or is not supported" I have multiple SDE environments and am using multiple SDE connection files for various schemas --all that work fine, EXCEPT the schema that includes an underscore. Anyone have a workaround? I'm not going to convince my DBA to change the schema name.

Per your suggestion, Ravi, I'll create a separate GP service for this tool and set it up as asynchronous. I'll serve it in our development environment. Thanks, I'll report back on how it performs.

When I use the REST endpoint to access my geoprocessing service I can successfully run a tool (export, et al) on all my files. When I use the web browser to access the same tool & geoprocessing service I get about a 50% success rate due to a time out error. I suspect a time out setting somewhere in the JavaScript/Web interaction with AGS. Has anyone else run into this issue as well and know where this parameter might be set? The REST web.config file includes a <httpRuntime executionTimout="1200' /> The GP service parameters are default at 600s max time a client can use a service, 60s max time client will wait for service, 1800s max time idle instance kept running. The files that I am processing should take just over 2 minutes of process time, based on testing and like-sized files. All files run successfully at the REST endpoint --where is the (likely 120s) setting that I can change on the web end to get my larger files to process?? Thank you.

I'm running a calculation that produces decimals while using the AM field calculator but results in integers while using python. Can you help? The AM field calculator expression: minutes = [length_mile] *60 / [speed_limit] The python expression: gp.calculatefield_management ("highway", "minutes", "!length_mile!*60/!minutes!","PYTHON") The field to be calculated is added using gp.addfield_management: gp.addfield_management (filename, "minutes", "double") After my python code produced numbers rounded to the integer, I double-checked using the field calculator and the result included the decimals. I need the decimals. Can anyone help with my programming oversight? Thank you. Janice Poehlman Wisconsin DNR
