I figured it out by using different port number other than the default one (80) to host the builder. To do that you need add a new website in IIS using different port number and associate it to the builder. In my case, the port number 80 has been used for other applications and that's why there is an existing scriptResourceHandler defined in web.config.

I had the beta version working properly before but got a config error once I installed the new version (1.0.1). The error says there is a duplicate scriptResourceHandler in web.config (see attachment). Any idea? Thanks! [ATTACH=CONFIG]12610[/ATTACH]

OK, I figured out. Have a Bing Map Developer Account is just the first step. Next you need to create a Bing Map key use your developer account following the instruction in Bing Map Help and then use it to configure the Bing Maps in the SharePoint using steps described here

According to Frequent Asked Questions, you need a valid Bing Maps application ID in the BingKey.xml file to enable the Bing Maps as the basemaps. I follow the instruction of Online Help 1.1.1 to get a Bing Maps Developer account and tried with my account name and account ID. But none of them work: The 3 Bing Map basemaps appear in Basemaps gallery but the it's just a blank one in the web part if I choose one of them as basemap. So what is the Bing Maps application ID anyway and how can I get a valid one? Thanks!

Thanks Katy, Sorry for the spam. Trying to get some sites up and running today. One other thing I can't seem to locate is the Visual Studio template. It's mentioned in the "What's new" but I can't find a link. I got the same problem: couldn't find ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight Project template in Visual Studio 2010 after installation. What's the solution?

There is only one Extensibility setup because it installs the .NET assemblies in the 32 bit Program Files folder. The assemblies are integrated into Visual Studio, Expression Blend or Web Developer Express which are 32 bit programs. The assemblies themselves are built with configuration ??AnyCPU?, which means they run 32 bit on a 32 bit Operating System and 64 bit on a 64 bit Operating System. Thanks Willbur! This should work for both 32-bit and 64-bit system. As you pointed out in another post, I got this problem just because the file I download is corrupt (though it is not easy to figure this out because the error info I got is kind of misleading --pointing to compatibility; I even tried re-downloading it the other day and still had the same issue). Fortunately I tried again today and now it finally works for me.

Try downloading the SDK setup again. The error seems to indicate that the file is corrupt because you received Windows error message "this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running". The setup never seems to have run and there is not a check in the setup for the Operating System. Thanks Willbur! You're right! There is no signal for me that this file is corrupt. I re-download it again and this time it works. Thanks!

Jian, Which version of the ArcGIS Extensibility SDK for Silverlight did you try to install? There is a version for 64-bit and 32-bit operating systems. As for your second question, the ArcGIS API for Silverlight is the API upon which the ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight is built. The ArcGIS Extensibility SDK for Silverlight is specific to the ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight and ArcGIS for SharePoint and provides an API specifically for writing add-ins that allows you to access the map and selected layer, show user interfaces (UI) in dialog boxes, and store and load configuration data. The ArcGIS Extensibility SDK for Silverlight (and ArcGIS API for Silverlight) are required for developing add-ins. See Extending the ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight for more info. Hope that helps, Katy Thanks Katy! I try to install a 64-bit version of ArcGIS Extensibility SDk for Silverlight. But the problem is that I couldn't find a 64-bit one. The download link has 32-bit and 64-bit versions of ArcGIS viewer for Silverlight but only one file for Extensibility SDK there and without information of compatibility. Finally I figured out it is a 32-bit version for Windows XP SP2. So could you please give me a link I can download the 64-bit version of ArcGIS Extensibility SDK for Silverlight? Thanks!

Hi Jian, Right click on setup file and select run as administrator. Most of the time this helps in resolving the installation related issue in windows 7. Rahul Thanks Rahul, It seems not the case though. When run it as administrator I got another error saying that Windows cannot find the file and ask me to make sure the name is correct and try again. This doesn't make sense because I right click the file and the file name cannot be wrong. Then I tried troubleshooting compatibility tools provided by windows 7 and the diagnose is that this file is compatible for Windows XP (Service Pack 2). If this is true, is there any 64-bit compatible version of this Extensibility SDK? Thanks!

I already successfully installed ArcGIS for Sharepoint. When I tried to install ArcGIS Extensibility SDK for Silverlight 2.4, I got an error saying "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86(32-bit) or x64(64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher." What does this error tell me? Doesn't this extensibility SDK support 64-bit system? I couldn't find any document related to this issue. Any help is appreciated! I'm running Windows 7 Professional and have Visual Studio 2010 and Sharepoint 2010. ArcGIS API for Silverlight 2.4 has been installed as well.

<esri:FeatureDataGrid Grid.Row="2" x:Name="MyDataGrid" AutoGeneratingColumn="MyDataGrid_AutoGeneratingColumn"
Map="{Binding ElementName=MyMap}"
GraphicsLayer="{Binding ElementName=MyMap, Path=Layers.[California]}" />
private void MyDataGrid_AutoGeneratingColumn(object sender, DataGridAutoGeneratingColumnEventArgs e)
{
switch (e.PropertyName)
{
case "OBJECTID":
case "AREA":
e.Column.Visibility = Visibility.Collapsed;
break;
}
}
Just wire up the AutoGeneratingColumn event and when each column gets created check the e.PropertyName for the attribute name you don't want then hide the column. Thanks Chris! This is exactly what I'm looking for!

To answer your question, since FDG.Columns is dependent on GraphicsLayer.Graphics.Attributes, you should not add all fields returned by query to your graphic.Attributes. There could be more fields you can exclude here. Alternatively, simply use query.OutFields to show only fields you want returned in the FDG.
foreach (var f in args.FeatureSet.Features)
{
var g = new Graphic() { Geometry = Geometry.Clone(f.Geometry) };
foreach (var a in f.Attributes)
if(a.Key != "FieldToExclude")
g.Attributes[a.Key] = a.Value;
l.Graphics.Add(g);
}
Thanks Jennifer! But I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing. I think your code is about how to select fields to GraphicsLayer. You can use either graphic.Attributes or more simply use OutFields of a query. I'm fine with whatever fields being selected to GraphicsLayer. What I want to do is just display a subset of fields available in GraphicsLayer to FeatureDataGrid. In another world, there are some fields are valuable to be returned by the GraphicsLayer, but I may not want to show them in the FeatureDataGrid. For example, I may have fields like [ID], [Project_Name], [Source_File], [Link] in the GraphicsLayer but I just want to display [Project_Name] and [Source_File] fields in FeatureDataGrid (of course, the FeatureDataGrid is binding with the GraphicsLayer); is it possible? I need keep the [Link] field in the GraphicsLayer to make a HyperlinkButton but I do not want to display it in FeatureDataGrid. What do you think? Thanks!
