I'm trying to create Global ID's on several feature classes in a feature dataset within a non-versioned PostGreSQL enterprise geodatabase. Most of the feature classes have feature services published from them to an ArcGIS Enterprise server, and the SDE is a registered data store for the server. I stopped all the services based on data from this SDE other than one GP service, but I don't think that's connected to the SDE, since the only connections I see when I check connections and locks on the SDE are from my current session. There are no geometric networks or anything else terribly complicated with the feature classes. I've tried running the Add Global ID's tool as well as right clicking on the feature dataset and selecting it that way. I'm getting various errors, primarily the ones below: "Error 000582: Error occurred during execution." "Underlying DBMS error" "Failed to execute" I'm using ArcGIS Desktop 10.8, although I think the SDE geodatabases are at an older version.

I published a hosted feature polygon layer with only about 70 features (though some have lots of vertices) using unique values symbology. When I view it in a web map, everything looks good, but when I create a web app using the Media Map from the Configurable Apps list, the symbology does not display correctly, and some polygons are drawn with the wrong color. This has happened consistently after republishing several times and happens at all scales. I also had a strange problem with ordering the symbols in ArcGIS Pro, where I published from, where some layers didn't draw even when they were at the top of the list. I've tried optimizing the layer, rebuilding the index, and republishing and nothing fixes it. Any suggestions? I'm using Pro 2.5.0. Hi Andrew, I should note, I was able to find the location of the XML metadata files in the services folder on the Server. So, I tried replacing all of the contents in the metadata.xml file for the service that is not working with metadata I exported in the ISO 19139 format from the feature class in the SDE that the service is based on. I pasted that into the metadata.xml file, and now it will at least display the metadata when I view it in ArcMap, but when I try to use the Import tool to add new metadata, or try editing it and adding new items, it doesn't take and no edits are preserved after I close and reopen it. I'm guessing that this workflow is not ideal, but it's at least one step closer to working correctly; it does prevent performing updates easily though. The XML validator returned an error with the XML, but viewing it in ArcGIS Pro, it recognizes it as being in ISO 19139 format. When I try to upgrade it in Pro, it returns an error saying "Invalid pointer". The Server is running on a Linux instance, so it doesn't have a C: drive; do you know where I can look for those files on a Linux system? Is there any way to "reset" the metadata file for this particular service? Editing it manually seems problematic, but is this something that the Server will generate automatically? Would re-publishing the service help at all? I'm still not fully understanding how Server handles metadata files and how best to proceed..

I have ArcGIS Server 10.5.0, Build 6491 running on a Linux instance, and I have several map services published from feature classes in a non-versioned PostGreSQL SDE. I've been working on creating metadata for all of them using ISO 19139 format. For all but one, I've been able to create metadata and import it to the service, then finish up the other specific sections. For one of the services, I get errors saying "Format Unknown" and "Uploaded content not found" (see screenshot below). I've tried changing the format between Item Description, FGDC CSDGM, and ISO 19139 and importing in each format, and each time the upload seems to work, and I can edit it, but when I save, close the metadata window, and reopen it, it's all gone and I get the same XML page with the same error notes. Is there something wrong with this particular XML file? I've used the same workflow for four or five other services on the same server and they all work great. Is there a specific place on the server that stores the XML metadata files? I've looked, but can't find it. I'm wondering if this one got corrupted somehow. I've also tried republishing the service, but with no success. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey everyone, I know this is an old thread but I'm in a similar situation, only using GeoServer 2.13 and ArcGIS 10.5. I'm trying to use a WMTS layer in ArcMap, and I can connect to it, and bring in a layer into the map, and it goes to the correct extent, but nothing actually renders. After reading Jim's comments, I checked our GetCapabilities document, and it has KVP encoding only. Anyone know how to add or enable RESTful encoding? Help would be much appreciated!

I'm experimenting with using GeoServer to serve out some tiled data (right now just some GeoTiff DEM's) as a WMTS service. I finally have it working to pull the service into QGIS and render the layer, but I can't get it to show up in ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro. I've tried creating tile caches in EPSG 4326, 900913, and the State Plane system that the data is in natively, and it won't render with any of them. I can get it to recognize the service and I can pull the layer into the map, and it goes to the correct location, but nothing shows. I just recently got the service to render in ArcGIS Online after I published the 900913 tile cache. I'm guessing it's something to do with the tile alignment, but I'm not sure. Has anyone tried doing this, with any success? I'm running GeoServer 2.13, Arcmap 10.5.1, and Pro 2.2.0.

I've installed the SQL Server 2012 SP3 64-bit native client, but that didn't seem to help at all; I'm getting the same error in both Pro and FME. I believe the SQL version the database is running is 2011 (though it might be older). Pro 2.1 shows support for databases only going back to 2012, so I'm guessing that's the issue, but I can't verify if 2.0 supported earlier versions than that; does anyone know how I can check that? I can't find any documentation for that for Pro 2.0.

Hi Kelly, I have a similar question, and I've been unable to find an answer to it (see my question posted here: https://community.esri.com/thread/211661-remove-stored-credentials-from-agol-layer-coming-from-enterprise) What if we want to remove the credentials entirely? The credentials have been removed on the Server side, but ArcGIS Online does not seem to recognize that. I understand that when credentials are stored with an item, there's some type of proxy that utility.arcgis.com uses to generate a token and access the service, but without credentials, no token is needed. I would just add the item in again from the Server without credentials, but it is being used in a web app and has numerous queries and filters built on it that appear to all disappear if layers are swapped out, even if they are duplicates. Is there any way to handle this issue without having to redo a bunch of work we've already put in?

I have a SQL Server geodatabase on our network, which I believe is SQL Server 2012. I don't have access to the database itself, but I need to connect to it to extract several feature classes. I have an FME job that extracts everything and writes it to a file geodatabase. A little while ago, I started getting connection errors in FME stating that it could not connect to the gdb and to check the database connection parameters. We use db authentication, so I had my password reset, but it still wouldn't connect. I realized that I started getting the errors right after I had upgraded to Pro 2.1 (and now 2.1.2). I can connect to the gdb in Desktop 10.5, and I can connect to a different database with the SQL instance using a non-spatial reader in FME, but I can't access the geodatabase either in Pro or in FME (I was using FME 2017.1, and now upgraded to 2018, and it still isn't working). My coworker had Pro 2.0 and could connect to the gdb in Pro and in FME 2017, and he upgraded to Pro 2.1 today and is now getting the same error I am (see below). It seems like there's an issue when connecting with a 64-bit application as opposed to a 32-bit one, but we could both connect using Pro 2.0, so I don't understand what would have changed. I checked the SQL database requirements for Pro 2.1 (Microsoft SQL Server database requirements for ArcGIS Pro 2.1—Help | ArcGIS Desktop ) but SQL Server 2012 SP3 is listed, so it seems like it's still compatible. Does anyone know what might have changed from Pro 2.0 to 2.1 that would be causing this error?

We have an ArcGIS Enterprise setup (10.5) with a feature service we're passing through ArcGIS Online to be used in a public-facing web app. It displays the service and allows for different types of queries that can be run against it. Some of the queries are custom-written and have been added to the app, which was created in Web App Builder. During testing, I had enabled security on the service, so it was added into AGOL with credentials that were stored with the item. Now, I have removed the security on it to make it public, so it can be used in the app more easily. The problem is, we're running into issues with the service and not being able to access the item description. When I go to the Overview page in AGOL and click "Service URL" I get the following screen: Also, the URL on the Overview page references an arcgis.com item (lower left), but on the Settings tab it references my Enterprise feature service (lower right). It also gives me the option to edit the credentials that are stored with the item. I'm not sure, but I'm guessing the error I'm getting above is due to the fact that when the item was originally added, it was secure, so credentials were stored with it. But now, I don't know how to update it to tell AGOL that it is a public service and does not need to store credentials. Is there a way to update an AGOL item that's coming from ArcGIS Enterprise to remove the credentials? I've tried adding the item from Enterprise again, and it does not ask for credentials, and the "Service URL" takes me to the item description page as it should. So, I'm assuming we could just remove our production AGOL layer, re-add it, and it would be good to go, but I'm worried it might disrupt some of the custom queries we have built in the app. If the service name is the same, everything should still work, right?
