So through some trial and error, some ChatGPT, and a trip deep into the CIM docs and JSON (Python CIM Access) i was able to get a Python notebook going to do something like this. In my use case, I had measures of square footage per building within different categories of usage type (classroom, office, etc). My customer wants proportional symbols to show the true scale of "40,000 SF of classroom in this building vs 2,000 SF of classroom in that building". Each of the different usage types gets a different color. The arcpy script runs in a notebook: It uses a single template layer in the map that is already configured with Proportional Symbol, Area US Feet , for my use case. It loops over each of the unique usage types, makes a new layer based on the template and assigns it a new name based on the usage type value. Then goes deep into the CIM (this took some trial and error) and updates the color property of the symbols for that layer based on a lookup table defined in the script to get the correct color. By default, the MakeFeatureLayer adds the new layer to the map. Note that if a different symbol is used, the CIM dot notation around lines 46,47 needs to be modified for the CIM JSON structure for that symbol. YMMV.

Hello, just commenting that I have the same challenge, but the only work-around is to create separate layers for each attribute-driven category and assign a unique color to that layer. With Proportional Symbols selected, checking "Allow symbol property connections" does not appear to allow color to be changed based on a attribute value.

Hi Ashley, Thanks, that also returned an error in new MapViewer "An error occurred while exporting the web map." with the same error logged in Server. Your comments about the Pro version got me thinking though, and this reminds me that I DID upgrade the enterprise DB to version 3.2 11.2 last month. I wonder if this is causing the issue? I've also been emailing with support and will message them about this as well. It don't know if i can roll back the database, i am guessing no. So it sounds like i'll be planning out the upgrade to 11.1!

Hi Ashley, I am a bit confused about where the ArcGIS Pro 3.2 issue comes in. I understand that Enterprise 10.9.1 and Enterprise 11.1+ will have different versions of this geoprocessing tool, but ArcGIS for Creative Cloud does not state that it requires ArcGIS Pro to be installed on the machine running it and the error on ConvertWebMapToArcGISProject is being logged by the 10.9.1 Server. Does ArcGIS Maps for Creative Cloud require that ArcGIS Pro 3.2 be installed along with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop? I can't easily upgrade this Portal to 11.1. I will try to downgrade to Pro 3.0 and see if that works. As far as I know I don't have a custom print service running. I'm just trying to sync standard feature services. I do wonder though... I've probably republished these services using Pro 3.2, so maybe that is causing some issues with Enterprise 11.1?

Hello, I use ArcGIS Maps for Adobe CC on and off. I'm currently on v 3.6.0 of the product. Recently I've been getting an error when syncing map context to the Artboard from Map and Feature services in our 10.9.1 Enterprise Portal. My typical workflow is to sync all layers in a single internal basemap map service to Illustrator and then share this with peers that need to do custom Illustrator work on our basemap. So I've used this service many times over the years. ERROR: The print service is currently unavailable. Please contact your portal administrator for assistance. The report.txt contains the following Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit Host Application: ILST 27.9.0 M4CC Version: 3.6.0 License Type: ArcGIS GISProfessionalAdvUT ERROR: The print service is currently unavailable. Please contact your portal administrator for assistance. Date: 3/20/2024 10:18:59 AM At the same time, ArcGIS Server is throwing this error. I have seen some related posted about the error that points to an ArcGIS Pro version issue and that it is related to Pro 3.2. We are running Pro 3.2 and we routinely republish this service as updates and new layers are added. Error executing tool. Export Web Map Task : ConvertWebMapToArcGISProject() takes from 1 to 4 positional arguments but 5 were given Failed to execute (Export Web Map). Failed to execute (Export Web Map Task). Executing the Python arcpy module installed with Enterprise 10.9.1 Server on the Server does throw the same error that is logged when using the Creative Cloud Sync tool. I don't think i can update Server's python version. Can I revert my Adobe Creative Cloud version?

@MingLee is it possible there are differences between ArcGIS Enterprise versions and how they parse IdpUsername from SAML? I have an Enterprise 10.9.1 deployment that was originally configured for SAML as a 10.6.1 deployment and since been upgraded twice to 10.9.1 To add a SAML user, I have always provided an email username@org.email and a username. The SAML IDP is successful However, in testing this today, I created a new SAML user with email username@org.email and username username@org.email Then I get this error : However, the reverse applies for my new 11.1 Enterprise deployment. As discussed in the ticket previously, I have to create new SAML users with email username@org.email and username username@org.email, otherwise the IDP fails with a mismatched IdpUsername. I confirmed with our IDP manager, these different deployments have matching SAML Attribute Mappings.

Thanks @MingLee. I agree with your distinction between built-in and IDP users and the username format. for me, its mostly a matter of consistency or migration for current IDP users in case its related to the mappings on the IDP side.

Good morning, I'm pretty sure this is an issue for our on-site IT IDP provider and not Esri, but wanted to post here anyway. Running Enterprise Portal 10.9.1. We had our Enterprise configured for SAML sign-in via our Org's IDP several years ago and before I got here. My typical approach to managing new users for this sign-in type was to add their org email like "username@org.email" then Portal defaults the username as "username", and everything is happy. The user's first and last name gets updated based on the SAML response after first login and their username in the portal is of the form "username". Fast forward now, our IT is using a new IDP management system and I am registering new Portals (11.1) in that system. I follow the Esri Enterprise instructions and our IT instructions for registering the IDP and SP on both sides, and then add users as above. But, when I try to sign in as the users, I get this error below. If I create the user in Portal with the username format of "username@org.email", then the SAML SSO works as expected. But if the Portal user is created with the "username" username form, then the error occurs. This seems like an issue with the SAML Attribute Mapping and I have submitted a ticket for our internal IT. Is it normal in Portal for usernames to use the form "username"? Reviewing Community here, it seems more common that folks are using "username@org.email" form. I don't have a strong preference, because users don't type in their username into Portal to use SSO anyway, just looking for consistency.

Hello, im here like everyone else with similar issues. I recently upgraded to Pro 3.2. I was getting identical behavior as everyone else. features disappearing on edit in a versioned edit session from a registered SDE DB. Following guidance from @George_Thompson , I did confirm our SQL Server is 2016 and I have the latest ODBC client drivers on my workstation. I did discover that the SDE DB version was at 11.1 (from the 3.1 upgrade last summer) and I DID have to apply the upgrades to 11.2 / 3.2 as instructed. But the errors persisted. Following @MartinWong1 [above]- i checked those settings and sure enough my Pro was configured for "Enable and disable editing from the Edit tab > Multiple workspace edit session". I switched this to Single Workspace Edit Session and restarted Pro. I noted a new Icon for the start editing session, I clicked that, found a new Edit dialog, selected my workspace, and started editing. Now the edits seem to be proceeding as expected, although errors are being thrown in the Notifications, nothing is disappearing as before. I will continue testing. Of note, in 3.1 and prior, I had my Pro configured to "Enable and Disable Edit from the Edit bar" and I instruct my junior staff in this. I like this feature to avoid accidental edits. Prior to this debugging session and @MartinWong1 [above] , i had not considered to check this in 3.2 and had not adjusted any options. I wonder if there is something weird with this new feature and the way it migrates over a user settings during upgrade? I don't know. But @MartinWong1 work around seems to help avoid the features from disappearing.

@ChristopherCounsell For counting views on feature layers within a web map, does this consider whether the layer is visible? For example if a Web Map has 5 layers, but only one is ON/visible by default, it seems like the View Count increments the other OFF/not-visible layers whenever the map is loaded in Map View or an App. In my own testing, like that of @SebastienPetit it seems like when a web map loads, wait a minute or two, then the View Count on the feature layers within the web map increment by about 2-3 counts even if the layer is not visible in the web map / app.

We have an Enterprise deployment and the only thing on the server is Esri Enterprise. We access Portal, Server, etc through the default URLs: www.example-enterprise.com/portal, www.example-enterprise.com/arcgis, etc. managed via IIS as configured by Enterprise during install and everything is dandy. But I don't have anything at www.example-enterprise.com and it just dumps to the IIS Welcome screen. What do you all typically do in this situation? I've seen other Portals configure to redirect the root to Portal Home. Is that standard best practice? I believe that has to be set manually in IIS. Are there any concerns with doing that? It seems like the most logical course of action if that Site is only for Esri Enterprise.
