I submitted an idea similar to this back in April. The status is "In production plan". Not sure how long it will take to get it into a release but it was great news to see that ESRI is working on it. Here is the link to the idea: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-ideas/add-ability-to-access-the-current-user-name-in-arcade/idi-p/972319.

Our organization currently uses class extensions applied to feature classes in a SDE geodatabase to manage edit permissions. Many people can have permission to edit features within a certain area (defined by a feature in a feature class). This works well in ArcMap but we would like to migrate to ArcPro. Editor Tracking in combination with Constraint Attribute Rules seems to be the best option for replacing the class extensions. It works well when a user inserts or updates a feature. But, Editor Tracking only fires on inserts and updates. It does not fire on delete. There doesn't seem to be any way to check who the current user is when a delete is made to determine if they have permission to delete a feature in that specific location. The ability to access the current user name would make it possible to determine if the user has permission to delete a feature in a specific location using a Constraint Attribute Rule. This is the main issue keeping us from migrating to ArcPro.

Kevin, I appreciate your quick response. I spent an hour this morning trying to download maps with stored credential layers and I kept getting the request for credentials pop up. As I wrote earlier, the classic version did not ask for credentials. I was trying to pick which map to share with you a few minutes ago and, at the moment, all maps are working as expected (not asking for credentials). I really don't know what would have changed in the last 4 or 5 hours. Since I can't reproduce the error I won't bother to share a map at this time. Just as a reference, our servers host the feature service and we use ArcGIS Online to create a feature layer and store the credentials. Does this match any of the scenarios you tested against? Again, thanks for your quick response. I look forward to using the new version of Collector.

We have an ArcGIS Online web map used in Collector which has stored credentials in a feature layer hosted on ArcGIS Online. The new versions of Collector (18.1.0) does not recognize the store credentials and asks for the credentials for each layer in the Feature Layer when downloading the map for offline use. Is this expected behavior in the new version of Collector or a bug? The "Classic" version of Collector does not do this. It simply downloads each layer without asking for credentials.

Is there any word on when this might be addressed? I ran into this problem today on Collector version 10.3.9.

I do not understand how ArcGIS interprets the coordinate reference system in the header files but we did run into a similar issue. The coordinate reference system for a number of files was not being read properly in Arc. The header files looked correct but there were some minor differences between the problem files and those being read correctly. We ended up using las2las (project) in lastools to get the file's coordinate system read properly by ArcMap. The original coordinate reference system was left blank and the correct reference system was entered in the output coordinate system. The re-projected files were read correctly by ArcMap.

I'm not sure if it will help but you may want to try changing arcpy.GetParameter(0) to arcpy.GetParameterAsText(0). If that doesn't help you may want to use a try: code except arcpy.ExecuteError: msg = arcpy.GetMessage(0) arcpy.AddError(msgs) This might show what's going wrong. If not, you could import os and traceback and write a more detailed "except" to catch other python errors.

The "Alter Field" tool would help with renaming fields. I don't know of any tools available in Arc to re-order fields. I think your best bet will be to create new feature classes with the correct/updated schema and append the data. If everything goes right, you could then delete the old features classes and rename the new ones to the old feature class names. If you have GlobalIDs, you may want to do some research to make sure the GlodalbID doesn't change when you append the data. If you don't have any replicas, relationship classes, or joins based on GlobalID then this would be a non-issue.

It sounds like the search indexing may be kicking in. It looks like the default for the "Index new items" may be 60 minutes. I've never really checked to see if it pulls in a license when the search index runs.

There's an old Knowledge Base- Tech Article that may help at http://support.esri.com/es/knowledgebase/techarticles/detail/32797. It's pretty outdated but maybe something listed there will help?

Usually, the first thing to try is changing the file extension on the normal template in C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\ESRI\Desktop10.2\ArcMap\Templates. The next time ArcMap is launched, a new template will be created. If the template was the issue, ArcMap should launch with the standard tools and tool bars. Any customization you had previously made to the ArcMap interface in the normal template will probably be lost. If this solves the problem, delete the old normal template.

I wasn't clear enoough. We do not delete the child version so we do not need to recreate it. We run a python script nightly through task scheduler. The help file below explains the process in depth: The bottom of the help page has a link to an explaination of how to use task scheduler. The sde geodatabase contains a table called SDE_compress_log. If the end_state_count is 1 then the database is at state 0 and is fully compressed. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/index.html#//003n000000v7000000
