Thank you @KenBuja! I was trying to determine how much developer time to include for an upgrade, but since the objects don't change we will likely not need much.

Hi All, We have a contractor upgrading some tools from 10.3.1 to 10.8.1 and migrating SQL Server Enterprise GDB from 2012 to 2019. Are there changes in ArcObjects between versions? My understanding was that they may be enhanced with additions or fixes applied, but that the ArcObjects themselves don't change. I haven't worked with AO since 9x, so appreciate y'all's insight! Thanks!

I was just able to download it on my home network. It is extremely helpful! The output feature class shows you the bundle name and file size, so you can look for small file sizes.

Hmmm. I am really stumped. I tried downloading it using 3 different browsers and 2 machines. I get an 'invalid' 180Kb .zip file.

Thank you Stefan. I tried to download the script, but the zip file appears to be invalid. It looks like Esri is moving a lot of files on their website, so I will try again in a few days. It looks like it could be really useful!

Try this: Create a new service with the same parameters. Elect to build the cache manually later on. Copy the tiles from the old cache into the new service cache directory (via the file system, not ArcGIS). Delete the old service. Rename the new service.

In 10.1 and 10.2, there is a Status.gdb that may or may not indicate errors while running cache jobs. I've found that even if there are no errors thrown and Status.gdb looks good, there are still cases of empty tiles being created. I'm curious to find out if there is any way to identify empty tiles, or if there are other tools which indicate caching status.

I did not try this in an earlier version. Using multiple machines in the 10.1 lead to serious performance issues (from what I'm told), so I waited until now to try it in 10.2. I'm reluctant to upgrade other servers to 10.2 with all the issues I'm seeing on my test machines. I'm actually getting more failures with cache on 10.2 than 10.1. As an aside, I've also tested map service response times with 2 machines on a site vs. one machine using 10.2.2. It seems that using 2 machines costs an extra 10-25% in latency (on my network, anyways). So while a multi-machine site may be able to handle a greater volume of requests, performance takes a hit.

I attempted to run a cache over 2 machines on the default cluster. Using ArcGIS 10.2.2. My scale levels were 0-12. Caching ran fine on levels 0, 4, 8, & 11. No errors were thrown, but Empty tiles were created in the rest of the levels. Anyone have success caching over multiple machines?

You may want to check to see if compatibility view is enabled (try turning it off if it is on, and vice versa). Are you running it from your IDE (eg. Visual Studio?)? If so, you may want to deploy it to a server to test.
