Some screen shots to hopefully help. Domain Table Note the attribute table showing the lines with the Value listed, not the code. Note the simple expression I am trying to use in the label class.

Dan, The values are already there, I am just migrating the layer over to Pro and symbolizing/labeling in an attempt to replicate the look and feel in ArcGIS 10.2. The label shows only the code. Thanks

Hi, I just started using ArcGIS Pro today and am trying to recreate a map that I use daily from ArcGIS 10.2. I am attempting to label some line using a field that contains coded domain values. The problem I am running into is that the label function will only display the code, not the value. I need to see the value and cannot figure out how to change the display option. Please help! Thanks, Jim

Hello all, I was pondering requesting upgrades to our dept desktop machines, mine included. I know a fair bit about designing a hardware config, but I thought I would start with the community and get some input on what you would view as a solid machine configuration for performing daily operations. Here are a few details surrounding what my department routinely does: -Edit versioned SDE connection -Use multiple screens 2+ to view and enter data -Produce high quality maps -Produce photo maps -Model line routing data (Large datasets) using routing programs. -Most data is stored on the servers, except for working files. -Configuring SDE databases using (Network Topology, Logical Data Model, Relates, Joins, etc) -Using FME to generate and run models and scheduled server tasks. -Various other tasks, yet unknown. I have added that last point to illustrate my need to over design, as we will have these new machines for 3 or more years most likely. -I would also like to be able to configure these machines with 2+, large monitors. I saw ones yesterday in the 27" range at a consultant's office. -Cost is a factor, but functionality can overrule. I should also mention that we have a an ELA, so we can always have the latest of most types of Esri products. We are also moving to Portal with and internal data appliance. I am sure I am leaving some valuable information out of this summary, so feel free to poke and prod.

You may be able to simply copy and paste the layers in Arc Catalog. Another possible issue is that the database versions do not match. One may be an older version or you may be looking at PGDB vs. FGDB (Personal... Vs. File...) formats. Also try exporting to shape from the source DB and re-importing to the Target DB as a test. Best of luck!!

Wow, sounds like a possible enhancement is needed for the next release then? I never want to show the "Bands" in a legend, but also, rarely show rasters in the legend, so a trade-off I guess.

Have you found something yet? Try Indeed.com. Just type GIS into the search. They are really heavy on the job postings for GIS.

This is long past the original posting of this question, but I cannot speak to the amount of jobs posted out there, but rather the content of the job postings. The postings are often vague, especially by the recruiting folks. I find that they often do not know anything about the job or job type they are recruiting for and automatically assume everyone is a programmer. To that, I also find that when postings are detailed, the employer is often shooting for the moon and is looking for a candidate that does not exist in the real world. "I want someone who is heavily skilled in programming languages, an excellent cartographer, a Master of GIS administration, a people person, leader.....and has 3-5 yrs experience." My budget is small you know....... For me, that was the most frustrating part of looking for employment near the end of 2014.

Yes, definitely. I would like to see something similar to BIM technology to go along with it.

Where did you get the small polygons? Did you create them, or are they from an outside source? You may check the draw direction of each.

Sounds like this is a one-off map? You may consider converting the dashed outlined polygons to polylines and trimming out the lines you do not want to see. Then underlay the like polygons, shade them, but have them show no outline.

Check into Cartographic Representations. Using this withing a FGDB Feature Dataset may be of some help.
