According to the REST API documentation for publishing a hosted feature service from an uploaded item in ArcGIS Online there is a "itemIdToCreate" option starting at 10.8.1 that can be passed in to set the itemId of the resulting service. It doesn't appear in the documentation to state if this is only supported in Enterprise and/or ArcGIS Online. From the tests I've run it appears to only work in ArcGIS Enterprise. Is this truly that case? If this isn't supported in ArcGIS Online yet, will this be an option at a future release? Thanks,

For those interested, we have created an application (Backup Manager for ArcGIS) that will do exactly this. Our app will backup on a regular schedule the feature services, web maps, and applications in ArcGIS Online to off site, cloud data storage (AWS S3). This will ensure that your content is protected in the event of accidental deletion, Esri outages/errors, and anything else that would affect your data! We felt backing it up off site and taking it out of ArcGIS Online completely was important to completely protect data, and the scheduler makes sure it gets done at regular intervals. Your content can be easily retrieved and restored at any time. We have found it really useful for data editing, you can take a back up each day and have a version control system for your edited data. Or, if you have a critical story map, back it up in case there is ever a mistake made that corrupts that application, and it can be restored with one button. It is available on the Esri marketplace for anyone who uses ArcGIS Online, and we hope to have a free version out soon! We built this app to fit our real use cases, and know that it can help solve a lot of what is being asked for in this thread. We are continually updating this app to fit the most use cases possible, so let us know what you think!

Hello, I'm trying to utilize Angular CLI with the with newest version of the JS API (4.9) along with Typescript and @types/arcgis-js-api (4.9.0). I'm running into a build issue that can be repeated on multiple machines. There appears to an issue with the "AbortSignal" variable in the typescript definition file. Here is the error thrown: I can get around this issue by commenting out the AbortSignal variable in the definition file: However, this doesn't help during automated builds. Is this a bug with typescript definition file? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,

I'm trying to add snapping to the "esri/toolbars/edit" class in the 3.23 version of the JavaScript API, however, it doesn't appear to work the way I would have hoped. According to the documentation snapping should work with this class. Here's one of the examples I'm testing with: https://codepen.io/npgs/pen/WzZwQx When a user double clicks on a feature I would like to give them the ability to snap to features while dragging the vertex around the map. This appears to work with the Editor toolbar widget "esri/dijit/editing/Editor" but not the basic edit toolbar. Any suggestions on how to enable this type of functionality while editing vertices? Thank you,

Hopefully this time the message will post as the correct user..... Hi Sagar, Sorry for the delayed response. I've tried the complete uninstall and reinstall of BDS without any success. I still receive the same error "Invalid Token." I'm also able to access the BDS from the hosting server through the url "http://interalIP:9220". Here is the result (doesn't prompt for username and password): Looking through the tutorial it appears that the hosting server needs to have a non self signed certificate registered to the URL used when registering the BDS with the hosting server. Does that sound correct? Definitely open to other suggestions. Thank you,

Sagar, After the re-install I the updated the hostidentifier.properties file and commented out the "preferredidentifier=ip" line. Restarted data store and also restarted AGS server on the hosting machine for good measure. After verification the same token invalid error persists. I've also tried the "registerdatastore" command the BDS machine referencing the hosting machine internal IP. Unfortunately still the same error "invalid token." I will send over log files. Thanks again for the help.

Hi Sagar, I tried restarting the hosting ArcGIS Server service after making the ip address update through the admin API on the hosting ArcGIS Server machine. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to make much difference. The validate function still returns "invalid token." I tried re registering the data store with the hosting server using the internal IP but unfortunately the result is the same with the checking the validation. Is there a recommended setting in the windows host file for the ArcGIS Data Store machine? I've tried machine name, IP, and machine name with fake domain name. Thanks for the help.

Hi Sagar, Thank you for the additional suggestion. Unfortunately that didn't seem to resolve my issue. I updated the hostidentifier.properties file to use preferredidentifier of "ip". After the update I restarted ArcGIS Data Store on the BDS machine. I still receive the following message: I also tested the ports using telnet and the BDS server has access to 6443 on the hosting server and the hosting server has access to 2443, 9220, 9320 coming from the BDS server. Another thing I tried was to verify the datastore from the BDS machine using the "describedatastore" command: Are there other ports that need to be accessible to BDS other then 6443? Let me know if you have other suggestions. Thank youk,

I'm running into an issue with trying to setup the spatiotemporal arcgis data store on an Amazon EC2 instance. Currently I have two servers setup; one with a base deployment of ArcGIS Enterprise (with ArcGIS Server federated with Portal), and a second with ArcGIS Server licensed as a Geoanalytics Server. Federating the Geoanalytics server with the Portal instance worked just fine. I'm trying to setup a third instance for storing the spatiotemporal data store. I have the data store successfully registered with the hosting server, however, the hosting server is not able to communicate with the data store server. It looks like when data store is registered with server it uses the machine name of the data store: This won't work since the hosting server can't find the data store by machine name. I've tried changing the machine name to the public amazon DNS and the private DNS. Neither of those work. Validating the connection after updating to either of the DNS names throws a token error: Is there a setting on the data store machine that I need to update so server can use the DNS name instead of the machine name? Any suggestions would be great. Thank you,

Did you find a resolution to this issue? I'm experiencing the same issue when trying to run a localhost proxy to a remote ArcGIS Server. If I put the same configuration on one of our servers to works without an issue. Would be great if development on localhost would work the same way.

I'm trying to publish a fairly simple Geoprocessing script that will allow a user to extract some points to a zipped shapefile. When I try to publish this service to ArcServer 10.2.1 it reports that the scratch folder I'm using for the shapefile: "script contains broken project data source." Here is the code referencing the scratch folder:
outputDir = os.path.join(scriptPath,"ScratchAPD")
if not os.path.exists(outputDir):
os.mkdir(scriptPath+"\\ScratchAPD")
How can I get this to successfully publish? Is there a different method of referencing a scratch folder that will be used in a geoprocessing script? Thank you!

I'm working on an editing application where I need to allow the user to set a numeric attribute field to null through an attribute inspector. So far setting multiple text fields to "" works without any issues however when I try to set the field value to null using the following code it doesn't stick. featureIn.attributes[fieldName] = null; Currently I have this code in the "onAttributeChange" event. This works with any number but not "null". Any suggestions? Thank you!

I'm trying to run through the process of upgrading a PostGresql database from version 10.0 to version 10.1. Here is the process I went through: 1. Using pgAdmin created a backup of the database 2. Upgraded Postgresql to version 9.1.3. 3. Ran through the necessary steps to copy the st_geometry file and the client libraries for direct connection. 4. Ran the Create Enterprise geodatabase tool to add the "sde" user and schema. 5. Using pgAdmin created a new database with the sde user as the owner 6. Using pgAdmin restored the database from the previous backup. 7. Connected to the new database using ArcCatalog. All of the standalone tables upgraded without any issues. The problem is all of the feature class appear to contain no data after the restore. The attached image is the error received when trying to preview feature classes. Any suggestions? I've also tried upgrading the geodatabase to 10.1 through ArcCatalog after the restore without any success.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I would still need to call StopEditing in the OnSketchComplete event. Looks like the only way is through a custom tool or non-modal form. Strange how this workflow doesn't have an issue on polygon feature classes but does on point feature classes? Very inconsistent.
