Hi I've got a question suppose I have a study area of 15,346 sq miles set at a scale of 1:3000 (1:250) I'd like to be able to print the map but my page width is confined to 42in is there a way to determine the length of paper I will need?

Well its a large map and I'm going to have to convert the scale but I think it may end up being to big to fit on the largest size backing so i'd like to know if I need to split the map or not.

Hi all I have a large map I'd like to convert to 1:3000 scale, that I 'd like to mount on stiff backing. My question is once I convert the map to scale how do I figure out what size backing I need? Thanks

Hi all, So I have a large area divided into divisions and I'm trying to create a map that will be printed through a plotter but the map needs to be zoomed in enough to rad division names so I would like to split the image into different sections and print each separately or can I just print in tiles? Anyone have any suggestions? I thought about clipping the image but there is a bunch of layers overlaid on one another that I need features from each so it's not as simple as clipping one image via another. Thanks

It's a national transportation/streets dataset. So there is a length component, I'm assuming this is the distance for one way correct?

So I used the OD cost matrix and got the time in minutes it takes to get from my origin points (several hundred) to a destination, is there are way to calculate how many miles were traveled either through a minute conversion or somehow within GIS?

Hi I have a set of points and I'd like to find the round trip travel time and distance from them to a destination point along a network dataset of roads and highways which tool within network analyst would be best. I was thinking shortest distance but then OD cost solver sounds like it might work as well...Thanks

Thanks I'll give this a try ultimately my goal is to run network analyst to determine the distance and time (round trip) it takes to get from the points to a set destination and I needed a way to tell what points were in each buffered area so I can get an overall average for each buffer. I'm trying to avoid double counting so maybe I''ll try one of the latter methods first

Hi I have zip code point data and a multi ring buffer I'd like to be able to clip the point file by it's respective ring and I can't seem to get it to work Ive tried splitting the point file by the buffer layer clipping and the select tool in the extract tool kit. The latter works but when you open the attribute table it only shows the data for one point in the layer even though there are multiple points within the buffer. please help

Hi So I've never used this extension before and trying to figure out where to start looking at tutorials only gets me more confused. So I have an existing personal geodata base that contains a boundary shape file for a park, a point feature of visitor data organized by zip code (where people traveled to the park from) and a buffer layer extending from 50-2500 miles. I also have a street maps network data set for the U.S. I'm trying to find out the distance and time it takes for each visitor (by zip code) to get from there to the park. Questions I have are- Can I upload the network dataset to my existing geodatabase and work from there or do I need a new one? Which tool would be best to use I thought about the OCD solver I have the most common roads that people took to get into the park so I don't know if I should use the shortest distance or the route feature. Is there someway to overlay the buffers look at the distances and times for just the points within each specific buffer. Thanks, I'm really confused right now

It's still not working for me I don't know if it is my error. I have created a multiple ring buffer at various distances around a park. And I have visitor data organized by zip code within this attribute table there is a field POP2012 I want the total sum of POP2012 for all the locations that fall within individual buffers. When I tried the dissolve I still had to click on each point.

Hi everyone I'm having some trouble and wondered if someone could help. I'm conducting a zonal travel cost assessment and I have an ESRI point layer file of zip codes for the U.S. that has the 2012 populations in the attribute table. I've created a multiple ring buffer around my feature of interest and what I would like to do is see the sum total population contained within each buffer. Any suggestions? I've tried selecting by location tool but it just gives a list of the zip codes within the buffer (there are a lot) is there anyway to get a total?
