Hi James, Meanwhile I found ways to calculate min(), max(), and avg() for my fields. But now I see other problems. I have up to eight measurements for one object. For these measurements I calculate min(), max(), and avg(). The object is in a repeat, i. e. I can have more than one object. I want to calculate min(), max(), and avg() individually for each object. 1. The calculation of min(), max(), and avg() for the first object is working perfectly. But when I create the second object, min() and max() of the first object are retained (here with four measurements). 2. Although I set "allowUpdates=true query=’1=1’" in column "bind::esri:parameters" for this repeat, some of the values are not loaded down to the surveys in my inbox. I am using note questions to display the calculated values since it does not work with integer or decimal questions. Maybe these observations help to narrow down the problem with calculations in a repeat. Best regards, Jürgen

Maybe this behavior is related to this issue? -> When setting a default answer for repeat question, default answer is not applied to first question.

Hi James, There seems to be a problem with the max() and min() functions in nested repeats. Please see the attached example. Here, the max() function does not work. But, as soon as you delete the outer repeat, the max() function works as expected. Any chance to get around this problem or to fix it? As for the average function: I found a solution in an older thread here in GeoNet -> How to implement this formula in Excel Form (Survey123) But, in my case with 32 questions to be averaged, this solution seems to be very cumbersome. Can you think of an easier way to do this? (Please also see the attached survey which has only 8 integer questions. The intended structure is the same but with four groups of eight integer questions each.) Thank you very much, best regards, Jürgen

Hello, I came across this in one of my surveys and am a bit puzzled about the effect. I have two nested repeats and want to count and show the number of the instances of the second repeat (-> Total Number of Courses). Also, I would like to initiate both repeats without any instances (appearance = minimal). In case I configure both repeats with "appearance = minimal" I get this result (see Excel file Repeat2WithMinimalAppearance.xlsx): After initiating both repeats the "Course Number" (second repeat) is zero (where it should be 1, apparently). Whereas, when I configure only the first repeat with "appearance = minimal" I do get the expected result (see Excel file Repeat2WithNoAppearance.xlsx): The one and only difference in the two Excel files is the appearance attribute of the second repeat. Can anyone explain the reason for this behavior and also, if this is possibly a bug? Thank you very much, best regards, Jürgen

Hi James, Thank you for replying to my question. The coalesce() function is new to me and I think it can be helpful in the future. Nevertheless, I hoped that there would be an easier way to achieve the calculation results I am looking for. Right now and with regards to what you are writing may solution would be as follows: -> For each edited field of the 32 fields - calculate, if it is the maximum and set the maximum question -> For each edited field of the 32 fields - calculate, if it is the maximum and set the minimum question -> Sum up all edited fields -> Find out how many fields have been edited -> Calculate the average value of all edited fields Since I can only do one calculation per question I would need a lot of calculation questions to accomplish the task. My hope was that I can kind of tag all fields that were edited. Then, the calculations would be: -> max(all tagged fields) -> min(all tagged fields) -> sum(all tagged fileds) div count (all tagged fields) Best regards, Jürgen

Hi Roger, Thank you for replying to my request. Actually, the solution you are providing is not exactly what I am looking for. Please have a look at this example: Diameter is an editable field, Surface is calculated from the diameter value. Surface is a read-only field. The light-grey background of the field shall disclose that this field cannot be edited. Best regards, Jürgen

Hello, I would like to set the background of read-only questions (i. e. the input field) to a different color, e. g. a light grey, to differentiate them optically from open/editable fields. Is there a way to do this and if not, would that be something to be considered for a future release of Survey123? Thank you very much, best regards, Jürgen

Hello, I have a survey for a number of measurements, in total 32. The measurements compose a matrix of 4 by 8 (4 different heights, 8 different wind directions). Not all points must be measured, it is up to the field guy which measurements he/she takes. All possible measurement points are represented by an integer question in my survey. For various reasons I am not using repeats. Now, I want to make some calculations like max(), min(), sum(), avg(), but only for those measurement points that do have a value. Does anyone have a tip how I can tackle this task (efficiently) in Survey123? Thank you very much, best regards, Jürgen

Thank you very much, Johnathan, for the analysis. I can verify that removing the group elements from around the repeats solves the submission issue. Let's see what development says. I, for my part, am convinced that this combination of repeats and groups (which works fine in an ArcGIS Enterprise environment) is indispensable for a well structured and clearly laid out survey and should also work in AGOL. Best regards, Jürgen

Hi Johnathan, The latest results were already the Connect 3.1.126 results. Another test rendered the same results. It's working with my local ArcGIS Enterprise and fails in our AGOL environment. You now should have access to the "ROSEN Tank AGOL" survey. Best regards, Jürgen

Hi Jonathan, There is a difference in the behavior of the survey depending on if I use it in my local ArcGIS Enterprise environment or if I use it in our AGOL environment. I can publish the survey in both and I can successfully send data with the desktop version of Survey123 (3.1.158) to my local environment. The "operation rolled back" error only appears in the AGOL environment. Please find the xls file and the debug log attached. Best regards, Jürgen

Hello, I get an "Operation rolled back" error with my survey. The survey was working in Connect version 3.0.127. Now I have updated to version 3.1.126, copied the survey and published it anew. Hello, With the inbox functionality of Survey123 it is possible to make existing surveys available (and editable) for users in the field (using the Survey123 app). The surveys for download can be filtered with a where clause in the survey definition. If I want to change the filter I need to re-publish the survey. We are now looking for a way how the user in the field can filter the surveys he wants to load down for editing (e. g. based on a project number). The survey definition itself should remain untouched, re-publishing should not be necessary. Is there a way to do this or are there plans to implement a download filter option for the field user? Thank you very much, best regards, Jürgen
