I am evaluation using the ArcGIS Runtim SDK for Qt on an upcoming project. Does LocalServer work with IOS and Android? If so, are there any specific restrictions incurred by these platforms?

If someone can give me some pointers on the steps to take and where I could upload it to I'll gladly make it available. If you put it anywhere I can access it, I'll add it to http://esrislwkt.codeplex.com/

I have a custom WGS84 tile-cache in ArcGIS Server (which I didn't set up). This tile cache was creating using 256x256 pixel tiles, rather than ArcGIS Online's 512x512 pixel tiles. We have an existing ESRI-based Silverlight application that uses these custom tiles and ArcGIS Online's layers and it works great. I am porting this code to Flex, and discovered an issue. I can add either ArcGIS Online or our custom cache as the only layer in a map without a hitch. But when I try to add them both, only the first layer added (either ArcGIS Online or ours) appears / functions. Is this a limitation of the Flex client? Or could there be something wrong with our conf.xml / LODs? If so, where can I find a "correct" WGS84 256x256 tiling scheme file that will work with ArcGIS Online? ---------------------- Nevermind. I can be done. We had slightly different numbers in our conf.xml - not sure why. I extrapolated levels 0 & 1 from ArcGIS Online, fixed our LODs, and it works now.

I was able to confirm empirically that multi-polygons are supported, that the stacking order is basically the ring, all of its holes, the next ring, etc.. You must use the right-hand rule to determine if a polygon is a ring or a hole. Its all pretty much like I assumed it was.

The strange loop I had was indeed being caused by those Extent rounding errors. I was attempting to zoom to a previous, known extent. When I told the map to zoom to this previous extent, those rounding errors caused it to zoom to a *slightly* different extent, which my logic interpreted as a new zoom event.

I had a question about Polyline and Polygon in the ESRI Silverlight API: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/silverlight/2.1/apiref/ESRI.ArcGIS.Client~ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Geometry.Polygon.html http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/silverlight/2.1/apiref/ESRI.ArcGIS.Client~ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Geometry.Polyline.html Polyline's data structure seems to allow multiple Paths inside a single "Polyline". Similarly, Polygon seems to allow multiple Rings within a single "Polygon". MapPoints, on the other hand, have an entirely different class (MultiPoint) to support multiple MapPoints with a single Geometry. Is it intended that Polyline and Polygon class should also satisfy the need for MulitPolylines and MultiPolygons? Additionally, there is the question of holes (interior rings) in Polygons. Is the right-hand-rule used to determine whether a Ring is a hole or not? Should the Rings within a Polygon be ordered in any particular way to ensure proper parsing? It seems rather cumbersome that Polygon should support multiple Rings and multiple holes in an arbitrary, unsorted order. Is there any way to determine which holes go with which Rings? Thanks!!!

I'm not sure if this the same issue, but I've seen a similar issue with web-connections only working via Fiddler: .NET has a maximum number of simultaneous connections to an internet domain. Its seems that exceeding this threshold simply drops the outgoing request. Running Fiddler (an HTTP proxy) breaks this behavior, "fixing" the problem. You must use a lower-level port monitor (EG: WireShark) to see the true behavior. In normal .NET apps, you'd fix this in your app.config: <?xml version="1.0"?> <configuration> <system.net> <connectionManagement> <add address="*" maxconnection="65000" /> </connectionManagement> </system.net> </configuration>

So... I'd love to write <esri:Map Extent="{Binding myExtent, Mode=TwoWay}" />, ala MVVM, only using databinding. I realize that Map.Extent is not a DependencyProperty, so its not dead simple. I hacked something crazy together with Attached Properties to set Map's Extent and an EventTrigger on ExtentChanged to receive updates on Map.Extent. I keep getting weird loops and such. Can anybody comment on the best way to do this, using only databinding?

I thought about my ControlTemplate issue and realized I hadn't defined my problem fully. I didn't need custom properties. I just didn't want my ControlTemplate XAML living stuck in some <resources> tag in some parent container. Easy fix: I wrapped my custom ControlTemplate with a ResourceDictionary tag and put it into its own XAML file, similar to how styles are defined. I load the ResourceDictionary via code, so users don't have to muck around with merging this dictionary in. SimpleMarkerSymbol symbol = new SimpleMarkerSymbol {Color = brush, Size = 8}; MyCustomResourceDictionary dictionary = new MyCustomResourceDictionary (); ControlTemplate controlTemplate = (ControlTemplate)dictionary["SelectableMarkerSymbolTemplate"]; symbol.ControlTemplate = controlTemplate; I can see two other alternative solutions to my problem. The most obvious is to simply create an alternative Symbol classes / XAML to use, which include any missing attributes. Another option might be to nest a ContentControl/ContentPresenter inside the Symbol's ControlTemplate, and bind that to a custom visualization.

I'm new to Silverlight, but trying to figure out the cleanest way to define Graphics selection style at runtime. The Selections example seems to indicate that this is done with control-templates. It seems that defining control-templates at runtime requires XamlLoader - a rather inelegant solution. I was hoping that someone could post an example to show me a cleaner way. Thanks in advance!
