Hi, I am looking for a data layer to use on a map that has state boundaries that do not touch the pacific ocean, the gulf, and the atlantic ocean. I really just want the interior boundaries. It looks kinda wierd when the state boundaries dont line up perfectly with the water on my raster. I am kinda looking for a layer like the "world ocean reference" without the labels. it nicely removes the state borders that touch large water bodies. Can anyone help? Ian

Hi, I have 10 buffers and 30 years of events (point data)(3 in this model). I am trying to create separate feature classes that count the number of events intersecting with each buffer. I am iterating over the buffers and using a batch spatial join for each of the years events. the problem is that each buffer overwrites the previous feature classes. So lets say I have 10 buffers and 30 years of events. Then I would expect to get 300 output feature classes. But I only get 10 feature classes. They are the spatial join of the each buffer and the last year of the batch (instead of every year of the batch). I tried using the %Name% convention but it just names it the buffer name. %n% doesn't work either. Thoughts?

Thanks Katherine, I did see that. Just figured that since it seems like such an important query that ESRI would have a tool. Guess not.

I need to select the 3 features that have the largest attribute value. How is this best completed? I would like to do this within a model builder environment. I have been trying to figure out the sql statement within the select tool but am having syntax problems.

Hi, I was hoping to use historical traffic data and network analyst to determine what the cost (time, miles, etc) of obstructions. In essence, I want to see how blocking a bridge or a road in a network will affect miles and hours traveled. Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Thanks, Ian

Hi Kory, Thanks for the comment. I saw that post but unfortunately that techniques does not seem to work when you use it in model builder. Any other thoughts?

I can't seem to choose the reclassify method in the reclassify tool. It only allows me to use equal intervals not quantile or others. What am I doing wrong?

I just upgraded from 10.2 to 10.5. I am having trouble with Geographic Coordinate System Transformation for the dataframe. Right click the Data Frame and choose Properties. I ensure that the Coordinate systems Tab is selected. I Click the Transformation Button on the bottom of the window to open the Geographic Coordinate System Transformation window. I see my convert from and into populated correctly. But the Using shows no available transformation. Did something happen during the upgrade? Is there any way to fix it so that it will project on the fly? Ian

Hi, I have a file containing 500000 line segments that are connected. It is similar to a road file with many segments. Is there a way to make all the segments curved to avoid the jagged appearance? Thanks,Ian

Darren, Thanks. I must be doing something wrong. I try using the spatial join and "closest" and it just gives joins the attributes of the original point... Not the nearest. So I get the same elevation value. I found a work around where I use the near tool and then a join but I thought there might be a more elegant solution. Ian

I am using ArcMap 10.3. I have a point file with 100 features. I would like to extract an attribute (elevation) from the nearest point in the same file. Any suggestions? Ian

Thanks. I thought there might be something canned for that purpose since most stats programs have a function for that. I guess it is not as common as I thought. Great suggestion though. Ian On Sun, Dec 27, 2015 at 1:37 PM, Rebecca Strauch, GISP <geonet@esri.com>
