We created a query in Firehouse, when exported (to excel) has the lat/long of each call for geocoding. Bring the excel file into a GDB, open the GDB within ArcMap and add the table. Geocode that table per the lat/long (ours projects as GCS_North_American_1983_CSRS) to display the points within ArcMap. Spatial Analyst will allow you to turn the points geocoded into a heatmap. I typically use 100 for cell size for a countywide area you may need to adjust for smaller or larger areas. Before we had lat/long data for each call we used AK's or Occupancy ID's as they are called in FH. Without either an AK or Lat/Long it took time to geocode by street address assuming there's a lot of data to geocode. There's a free add in for Excel (geodesix) that uses Google gocoder to populate a lat/long by address within Excel. You are however (last time I checked) limited to 2,500 free geocodes per IP address per 24 hour period. We haven't automated this process as we run a heat map typically annually unless needed sooner. The process once you've done it a few times isn't too difficult. Our query pulls out a wealth of information that's excellent when geocoded as points and served up as a service via ArcGIS Online. I should note that our Lat/Long (and other call data) are populated automatically via our Dispatch through CAD Monitor into Firehouse.

I agree please bring back the proper spatial analyst toolbar not this neutered thing you??ve left in its place. I don??t know about everyone else but the cut down toolbar to me is all but useless. I??m all for change and don??t mind learning new things but from my point of view the end user. You??ve taken a perfectly good toolbar that worked and broken it. Sending the end user on a quest to figure out where everything is. I figured it out in a few minutes but it would have been good if it were left in place? If it isn??t broken why break it? One more thing that??s in the wrong place in my opinion is the ??Toolbars? Menu. In just about every windows application I??ve used.. Toolbars is under ??View? why move it if it??s where it??s expected to be?

I've been running Explorer for about a year so far and I've noticed with each newer build it seems to run progressively slower than the previous version on my desktop. I'm using the "Test 3D" option to benchmark 3D performance and I've gone (a year ago) form 170fps down to 24fps with 1500. Switching back to 1200 gives me 42fps? My system is more than capable of running ArcExplorer: Core2Quad Q9400@3.20Ghz 4GB DDRII 800Mhz Dual Channel Interleaved 3x250GB SATA 7200RPM Hard Drives (freshly defraged) ATI Radeon 4830 PCIe 512MB Windows 7 Ultimate 64 - all updated applied On the other hand my laptop a dual core machine with 3GB RAM is running ArcExplorer faster than before it's gone from low 40's to low 50's! Both machines are virus free and all non essential programs are shut off before running Explorer. I even updated my graphics drivers on the desktop hoping to fix the issue it just seemed to make it worse. All other applications that utilize 3D are running normally. Thanks,
