Thank you for sharing this! I have about 70 unique polygon symbols in a layer and have been trying to find an efficient way to get them into a style. I probably could have manually saved each symbol to a style in the time I spent searching for a different way, but I know I have other symbols/layers in a similar situation. I hope to try your method.

Katie Cullen or Jonathan Bailey Did you ever resolve this issue? I am having the same problem with a tax parcel layer hosted on Portal 10.7.1. It was originally uploaded as part of the Tax Parcel Viewer solution deployed in 10.6. I have edited the extent to be the same as my organization (our county boundaries) in the layer properties. Its setting appear to be saved at the new extent, but the layer is still displaying at the default global extent in Catalog and when I add it to Pro.

Thank you! This is most helpful. I kind of assumed some of the groupings (green seemed intro/foundation-ish), but this is nice to see it in black and white (lol) to make a little more sense of the primary topic category for each card.

Have these colors been fully implemented yet? I had to hunt around to find this question and response about the colors on the catalog cards. I assumed they indicated a topic, but I was hoping for a key that indicates what the topic is. Or better yet, have it match the color of a topic heading that is easily visible so that the color coding is intuitive. I like the flexibility of the Learning Plans, a great addition.

Regarding reproducible to local drive question: I skimmed through some of my local folders where I used to save a few projects and I think a similar thing happened in the past there as well, I had to do a Save As for the aprx. It is difficult to get something like this to trigger, but maybe I will make a couple of test projects on my local and network drives and monitor for a couple of weeks. I asked IT about any specific background network processes and the simple solution is what I already knew: just close Pro at the end of the day and reopen in the morning. It is a resource intensive application, even sitting idle. I've had another strange thing happen where my computer wouldn't wake-up from sleep mode. I had to do a hard reboot a couple of times over a few months. The next time it happened, IT remoted into my computer and that woke it up enough for me to close Pro and then it was like my machine could breathe again. Same lesson learned there: close Pro at the end of the day. I have a nice high end Dell Precision Tower 7810, well beyond the basic specs for Pro for graphics and processing. I do wonder if Esri staff have similar issues like these. Do they leave their software open overnight and have save issues in the morning?

I get this error intermittently. Yesterday I worked on two different projects, saved them each before leaving at the end of the day, but left them open on my desktop. Today, after making a few cartographic cahnges, I get the Project Save Error message: Failed to save project General Reference to G:\GIS Projects\General Reference\General Reference.aprx . Argh. They do have spaces in their names, they were created in older versions of Pro, but have been recently accessed and saved, so that shouldn't be an issue. Last time this happened (within the past few months) I was able to do a Save As in a new location (or just a new name, can't recall) and it was fine. Today it won't even let me do a Save As: new location, new name, network or local. I suspect it has something to do with leaving the project open overnight. They are both originally saved on a network drive. I am at 2.2.3 on Windows 7. One is connected to SDE (though no active layers in the open Map and Layout), the other is not. Again, leaving open overnight after no issues with saving the previous day is the common variable. Very very frustrating.

Thank you very much Jeremy! I saw this thread several months ago, but had not found a solution either, so I moved on. Back at trying to get DD coordinates from placed points efficiently and this worked great! Initially when I tried to run Add XY Coordinates, it failed and said the layer I was using was not editable. Even though I could view it in my geodatabase, something wasn't saved right (user error!!). I ran a Conversion on the layer and then ran the XY tool, selecting Geographic Coordinates, and it worked fine. After having success with that tool, I also retried the Add Geometry Attributes tool on another point feature layer, and it worked as well. Both tools will calculate in decimal degrees as long as WGS 1984 is selected as the Coordinate System. Both tools will create a Point_X or Point_Y field. If either is run subsequently when those fields already exist, they will overwrite the existing field data.

I had a similar problem, only the error messages said: " The map .... failed to download with the message: Unable to create replica. Please check your parameters., Exporting data for layer 7 failed." I also got the same message with layer 8 failing as well. Both times the download was hung up and I had restart my Android device to cancel the download. I removed all the non-critical reference layers from my web map and was able to successfully download, edit and sync. This was using a topographic basemap. However, when I changed the web map to imagery with labels, I am getting an error that says " Attempt to invoke interface method 'java.lang.String ix.c()' on a null object reference". It keeps looping back with the same error. Restarting device failed to clear the error message. After I started a new download area, that was successful, the error code cleared. It is frustrating to have all of these little errors pop up.

Another tip to add here, when in doubt: Restart. I experienced a glitch in Collector where my downloaded map on my Android device did not show up under the Manage option from the overflow menu (bottom right on Android). My offline map was stuck in offline mode. I read this simple instruction that indicated I should see the downloaded maps on my device and be able to click the Remove link. I replicated the process on my iPhone with success. Before resorting to reinstalling the Collector app, I simply restarted my Android phone and voila! There was the downloaded map tile with the lovely red Remove link. I was going a little crazy with frustration for a bit there. Hopefully this helps if anyone else has the same glitch and ends up on this thread.
