Hi all! After a bit of time away because of the pandemic I'm back. I have a situation where one of my users installed ArcGIS 10.6.1 and ArcGIS Pro 2.8. Everything seemed fine. Then they added ArcFM. Now ArcGIS Pro won't launch but as soon as ArcFM is removed ArcGIS Pro will launch. Any thoughts? Since the user doesn't need ArcFM functionality but needs ArcFM because of their propietary geodatabase object extensions would just installing ArcFM Object Reader be the solution? Any help you can offer please let me know. I'm always happy to assist where I can with others issues. John Pavek, GISP, CSM

I have a situation where I have a table showing accidents recorded in a table with a mile post field representing the M value. I have a vector layer showing the major roads with the SRI along with the start and ending MP on each segment. I want to use the M value in the table to find the XY on the road. Then I want to update the X,Y fields in the into the table and then generate a point layer out of the table. I think I have both the second and third steps down esp the third. But I'm having some trouble with the first. Any suggestions? I think if I get the first step down the rest will fall into place

I'm dealing in anywhere from 10.5 to 10.7.1. I think attribute rules are an ArcGIS Pro thing. I'm starting to think this has to be an ESRI Tech Support call in. I may be trying to do something not possible with the version I have. Thank Joe for the info you can give

Hi all. I got some good info from Joe and Asrujit. But unfortunately it isn't enough for me to get going. I've tried a bunch of google searches but can't find anything definitive. Does anybody know of a ESRI doc or something that shows how to do action with triggers esp to do a calc when something changes in a field to calc another field? I keep getting ESRI stuff relative to Tracking Analyst which we don't have.

Hi David Here is what I saw and I now know it is a Raster Catalog because the heading of the Properties: box is "Raster Catalog Properties" which I don't why I missed that. This is one of the reasons I hate coding/programming...you miss a comma and your lost for hours/days/weeks...I don't have the patience for that. I will look into your suggestion David about the code. I'm going to try to use Modelbuilder to help me get the code together. It might be worth doing your suggestion but I have learned if it is working don't break it. If I just could get the Raster Catalog GDB to convert/be loaded/etc into the mosaic dataset then I could use Modelbuilder to get that to work, export out to Python and add the codeset in getting that to play nice with the other code.

Ok...I think it is a raster catalog if I remember my ArcCatalog symbols right. Plus I tried something and an error i got mentioned that it is "not unmanaged" which I would assume means managed (yes...that is what the message said). If you look at the images shown on the last message it includes the images themselves. I definitely need to get it to a mosaic dataset. The person that created things left a long time ago and the documentation is very weak. So putting together what I can. I'll try to find out more. Is there something I can do that would definitely show what it is?

Hi David. Ok...I'm a;ways trying to find the right balance of info in GeoNet vs. too much... The workflow is this...people make changes in the TIFFs using CAD. Each morning at 7 AM a job in Task Scheduler kicks off the code. This code will go and find ones that have been changed and replace them into the raster dataset. An earlier version just recopied all the TIFFs each time but I think this version just dealt with the changed ones. Then this raster dataset is used in a few mapservices. This code works fine and I have learned that if it works let it be as much as possible as I have found not my type of thing. Now there is a request to go to the Mosaic dataset instead of the raster dataset. I figured since the raster dataset is there and working why not take the raster dataset and just change that to a Mosaic dataset. That way I just add a new codeblock and work that in instead of rewriting the whole code. I've included a few images of the raster dataset below.

To this community: we are really stuck here and searching for help anywhere we can find it. But I figured that this community would have the best experience and ability to help. Please...please...if you can offer something let me know. I'm going to look into Modelbuilder and see if it can help. But I'm really a blind person now swinging in the dark with 1 hand tied behind my back.

I'm in the same situation...done them awhile ago and don't remember much. I haven't found much about avoiding triggers 🙂 Yeah but I wish I was receiving more help on that and reach a wider audience. We are at our programming limits so we really need more help. Well as the saying goes...beggars can't be choosers. 🙂 Thanks Joe for everything

Thanks for your reply David! The way the process works ibased on the code I provided is this...the TIFFs are modified Then thru a process that runs in Task Scheduler every morning at 7 AM any changed TIFFs are found and added to the raster GDB raster dataset overwriting what is there. Then the GDB and its associated TIFFs are served out to a webservice. So we have to automate the process. But like I said we could just keep the process as is but add a step to take the raster GDB into a mosaic.

Ok...I'll give it a go. Do you have a suggestion on how I can get some more responses on my raster to mosaic post? Do you have any further comments about the original question esp with Asrujit suggestion for a trigger? Do you have an example of a trigger you might of done? Thank for everything Joe!

After thinking about it...I haven't used triggers in a while. But I have a couple questions: - I assume you are referring to a database trigger or are you thinking something within ArcCatalog or ArcMap? - Could you provide an example of a trigger? Thanks for everything!

Ok...it appears I need to take a class on things with GeoNet :-). I tried to use it when it first came out but it was very useless to me because not many people replied to what you put out. Now that seems to have changed. So Joe...do you recommend I go back and use the highlighter to put the code into the thread, start a new thread using the highlighter or just leave alone for now? As programming/coding is my weakest point I need as much help as I can get Thanks for everything Joe.
