I have a large data set of sanitary sewer pipes. I am making a map book with data driven pages and need to move the labels around so that they are not overlapping the edges of the page and the manhole and catch basin labels are legible as well. I have converted the labels to annotation in the database and can easily edit the labels, moving them. I noticed that not all the features were labeled, so I check the unplaced annotations. Everything is supposedly placed. I realized that I had the connect features option check in Placement Properties > Label Density prior to converting to annotation. I believe this is why many of the labels are not showing up. Is there a way to update or fix this? I have about half the labels moved already and don't want to start over. https://community.esri.com/groups/geodatabase?sr=search&searchId=aea87997-ffea-4358-83c5-64d8d205e003&searchIndex=0 https://community.esri.com/community/gis/enterprise-gis?sr=search&searchId=92487859-a620-4f4e-a7ce-62d9e138d23b&searchIndex=0

WIth the above scenario, I have been attempting to publish a versioned geodatabase where DEFAULT is protected and I have a Public version named Field. I changed the version in ArcMap back to DEFAULT and it published fine. So long story short I am not able to publish the version data.

Yes, I have followed all that. As far as I can tell I have everything setup correctly and I am still getting the error that the database must be registered when I analyze it prior to publishing as a service.

I have ArgGIS 10.3.1 Desktop with ArcServer and PostgreSQL 9.3. I have everything configured and talking with one another. I am able to create an enterprise geodatabases through ArcGIS desktop. I have a postgres user, sde user, and another user account. I have imported a shapefile into the enterprise geodatabase through a database setup up with the user account. When I first got everything to work I was able to publish with no issue. I attempted to register the database with ArcServer utilizing all three accounts setup with no luck. When I attempt to publish the database as a service it indicates that I need to register the database with the server. I have done extensive research with google in order to find a solution, with no luck. Also, I am self taught on on this so if you are able to keep the response somewhat formatted for the lay folk I would greatly appreciate it.

Jennifer, you may be right, but I am not sure what I am doing wrong to specify the server based upon IP address. Are you aware of any guidance documentation that you could link for me?

Adrian, Thank you for the extensive information. I am still at a loss though. I am pretty sure that everything is generally setup correctly as per the links you provided. Some of the things that I have read required you to set up a username and password for the ArcGIS Server in PostgreSQL, should this be the same username and password to log onto the machine? Others say that this is not required with PostgreSQL. Confusing!

I am using ArcMap 10.3.1 and have downloaded the PostgreSQL 9.3.5 files from MyESRI.com. PostgreSQL is installed locally for testing purposes. I have everything working smoothly and am attempting to publish the data for use on a tablet in the Esri Collector app. In order to do this I have to register the database with ArcGIS Server. I edited the pg_hba.conf to allow remote connections, since ArcServer is installed on another machine. When I attempt to register the database I get he error in the following screenshot. I have attempted an exhaustive Google sreach for a resolution with no success.
