Can you have the map service expose the coded domain values defined for the columns with the code, on the rest api, so we can view the values when we do query, or we can query on the coded domain value instead of the code? thanks

Hi We are storing data in Geodatabase on Oracle using Oracle Spatial option SDO_Geometry and consuming that using ArcGIS server 10.2.1 The performance is very slow (we are talking about between one to two million records) When I loaded the data, I didn't pay attention to create indexes or configure indexes I just used FME to load data from file geodatabase. What are the best practices when you use Geodatabase on Oracle with SDO geometry? Which indexes are being used, the oracle ones, or sde ones? I am very beginner in the performance issues, because I am mostly a developer. thanks for any help. Any help, best practices, guidance, will be appreciated.

You cannot use ArcSDE command line tools to add anything to a feature dataset, ever. Tools written with just the ArcSDE API are not geodatabase-aware. Only ArcObjects-based tools like ArcPy can manage feature dataset management. - V Thanks V That explain what I found that using that sde command "SdeLayer" didn't register the feature class in the geodatabase. Because I found that when I right-mouse click on it and show the context menu, the option "Register with geodatabase" is available. I remember that registration has two phases, register with SDE and register with Geodatabase, and I never understand what the difference between them. So, my question, if I want to write a python script to register with the geodatabase, which arcpy commands I can use? and do I have to register it with SDE first?

I am using arcgis 10.2 with geodatabase. I want to use the command sdelayer -o register to register an oracle spatial table with sde. but I want to register it inside a feature dataset. I didn't see a way to do that in the command line. One more related problem I registered the layer normally, and they I tried to move it to the feature dataset with arccatalog but I was not able to do that, because I got the "unavailable" icon when the layer is over the feature dataset although both (layer and feature dataset) share the same coordinate system

I am trying to create a database connection from ArcGIS desktop 10.1 to Oracle server using easy connect syntax So, from ArcCatalog I use "Add database connection" then I chose Oracle in database platform then in the instance I write down myserver: port/serviceid so I write dbserer:1539/devDatabase but it gives me ora-12154 TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier I thought by using the easy connect I don't have to worry about TNS names

Hi. How can I add a column to a feature class that is versioned in an enterprise arcsde 9.3.1 database? what are the steps? I want to do it through scripts only, so I can give it to the dba to run it. it doesn't matter it is Python script, sql, or whatever. do we need to delete all active versions, and compress the database?

I am developing an ArcGIS extension with .NET and Desktop 10.1 The extension is creating an sde connection file on the fly and connect to the database When the user use any of the toolbox like (Select tool from the toolbox) and use one of the layers, the dialog box "Database connection" will be popup and ask the user of user name / password. Is there a way to listen in the extension to those dialog boxes and fill them automatically. Or is there a way to listen to toolbox usage of the layers and pass the user name / password? thanks

Hi. I have ArcGIS server 10.0, and I have some mxd files which I publish them as ArcGIS services. for last three years I have been doing the same work, by using Python script to check the mxd files and publish the service. I run the script to publish the services, on all environment (dev, test, prod) our geodatabase is on Oracle 10g, and it is the same for all environment The script is doing the following 1 - set the data source for all layers on the map (depending on what I am deploying to: dev, test, prod) 2 - run the python "ListBrokenDataSources" to check for broken data source. 3 - run python "AnalyzeForMSD" to analyse to convert mxd to msd. 4 - stop services 5 - publish services .... When I modify any mxd, I will run the script to publish it. I have been doing this for three years without a problem. And now I have a problem There is a layer that is failing on the process "AnalyzeForMSD" the process is failing on a layer called "NOLEGEND-CP Low" and the funny thing, I didn't change that layer at all. The changes I did, is I removed some columns from another layer. So, AnalyzeForMSD is giving me this error -- Analysing the MXD for conversion to a MSD
-- ERROR: Layer's definition query is invalid (CODE 7)
-- Affected Layer: NOLEGEND-CP Low
The query definition for that layer is this CPM_SURVEY_ID = -1 If I change the -1 to 1 , it works if I change the -1 to < 0, it is the same problem The problem happen on Production only. It works fine on both dev, test and nothing change in that layer for last two years. Nothing change on Oracle table / sde registeratioin as well The oracle definition for that column is Number(10,0) and sde column registration for that column using SDE_Type = 2 the table has the same definition on dev/test/qual it is driving me nuts the python script that is giving the error is analysis = arcpy.mapping.AnalyzeForMSD(mxd_file_name)
