Hi Daniel. Thanks for sharing and reminding me to update this thread. That is a strange issue. For us the issue was that one of the servers in the site (this site runs on 2 machines) had a short hostname. We changed it to a fully qualified hostname and the print service hasn't failed since to my knowledge. Unsure why this affected this one particular service and none of the other ones on the site however. Cheers, Gino

Hi Guys, My team administers a number of ArcGIS Server sites with a variety of service types. One particular custom print GP service is showing intermittent failures, seemingly at random; we cannot discern concrete steps to force it to fail every time. This failure occurs when using the service through an OOTB Web AppBuilder widget, or when executing via the rest endpoint. Approximately 50% of the time the job will work, the other half it will fail, with the same input and conditions and in direct succession. There are no messages produced and polling the service endlessly returns esriJobExecuting; i.e., the job doesn't complete, however it is most certainly dead. The manager UI doesn't really give much useful information, returning only the following messages: Execution of job j9f6c3e5919bd45b4bbbe8b640ce510b0 failed. The service was unable to change the status of the job. Error executing tool. Export Web Map Job ID: j9f6c3e5919bd45b4bbbe8b640ce510b0 The only other bread crumb trail I have is the messages.xml file in the job folder on the server indicates that the server believes the user cancelled the job (which isn't the case). Message below: <GPMessage xsi:type='typens:GPMessage'> <MessageType>200</MessageType> <MessageCode>0</MessageCode> <MessageDesc>Cancelled function</MessageDesc> </GPMessage> <GPMessage xsi:type='typens:GPMessage'> <MessageType>200</MessageType> <MessageCode>0</MessageCode> <MessageDesc>(ExportWebMap) aborted by User.</MessageDesc> </GPMessage> I have set the server logging level to debug and forced the print job to fail but I cannot see anything in the logs that are of interest (although someone with more knowledge than I may see something more, I can supply logs if need be). I cannot see anything of interest in the Windows Event Logs either. This failure occurs only in the production instance of this service, the instance on the test server works fine. Has anyone seen this kind of intermittent failure before? To me it looks like the job has died but the server is not aware of its death status and treats it as executing. I would be very appreciative of any advice on how to fix this or where to go to troubleshoot further for more information on what is going on here? Please let me know if you need any further details, happy to provide what I can. Many thanks in advance. Gino Windows Server 2012 R2 ArcGIS Server 10.7.1 Published using ArcGIS Pro 2.8.0 (I note that this is not the most direct version equivalent to Server 10.7.1, however there are numerous other print services which have been deployed with this version and are functioning fine).

Hello, I am trying to append a table to another table whilst maintaining globalid values using the append tool with the preserve global id's environment variable checked. The data has attachments enabled, in the source data the relate is based on the globalid field. However, when I run the append no global id is created in the destination table, and the attachments are instead created with objectID as the relationship link which is unusable as the data will eventually be published to ArcGIS Online and used with collector and survey123 - this requires globalid's. If I create global id's in the empty destination table before I run the append I get the good ol' 'ERROR 999999: Something unexpected caused the tool to fail' error. EDIT: Using ArcGIS Pro 2.5.2, advanced licence. Does anyone have any idea where I am going wrong here? Is there a better way of doing this? Many thanks in advance. EDIT2: More information about what I am trying to do in case there is a better way... We created a system to facilitate field inspections using collector and survey123. This consists of a point layer and related inspections table published to ArcGIS Enterprise Portal 10.7.1. A survey 123 form was then created using the inspections service url which has a few fields that could be edited including repeats containing photos. Therefore the point layer had a 1:M relationship with the inspections table (based on globalid:GUID fields) and the inspections table also has a 1:M relationship (based on globalid:REL_GLOBALID fields) with the attachments feature class (created by the survey123 form). The workflow for staff was to use an offline map in collector to locate the point, click on a URL in the points popup to fire up survey123, collect information, then submit the records, syncing when coming back into network range. This worked well and data was collected, however, there were a few changes that the field staff requested to the meters and inspections feature classes (e.g. new fields, some fields deleted, etc.). I am trying to make new feature classes with these changes, append the existing data to them, and republish as a version 2. So far the point layer: inspections relate is working fine, however, the inspections:attachments relate is where ArcGIS Pro is altering the relationship from globalid to objectid:rel_objectid which I believe is not compatible with offline-capable maps and surveys.

Hi Again All, Just wanted to share my experience overcoming this issue in case it is useful to anyone in the future. As Drew suggests above, for me it was an incompatibility issue between ArcGIS Pro 2.5.2 and ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1. I also tried publishing from Pro to our standalone ArcGIS Server 10.7.1 and the same issue occurred. The workaround for me was to use ArcGIS Desktop 10.7.1 to publish to our stand-alone ArcGIS Server 10.7.1; this produced the geoprocessing server and the tasks which are now running perfectly in a geoprocessing widget in a web app. Massive thank you to Drew Flater for troubleshooting this with me and setting me on the right path to a working web tool! Cheers, Gino

Hi David, Yes absolutely sure, can confirm that I have been able to take maps offline without issue. The only way I have been able to get the download to fail is to attempt to take a large area offline as mentioned above, however, this is still within the acceptable parameters for the level of detail I am using. In the tests I have done when the failure occurred the server team have indicated that the jobs generated on our server complete within seconds for our operational layers; they are coming offline fine, the ESRI imagery is not as indicated by the log from Collector on our iOS test device. Cheers, Gino

Hi Claire, No resolution as yet. The field guys are still quite busy and I have been unable to troubleshoot with them. Their season is ending very soon however so I expect to get back into troubleshooting this again soon. If I do work anything out I will be sure to post it on this thread. Cheers, Gino

Hello, Thanks for the reply - that would explain it then. I was under the impression that it was in both Android and iOS versions of Collector. I can tell you what I know, it is hard to troubleshoot as the people who are experiencing the issue are over 1000km's away and are field staff who are not within the office much. I was hoping to use logging to determine further what was happening. The web map being used contains 1 polyline layer with 3500 records and 2 polygon layers with 4500 and 22000 records each viewed over the ESRI Imagery with Labels basemap. The operational layer data is stored as versioned featureclasses within our Oracle database and served using ArcGIS Server 10.7.1. No predefined map areas have been created as yet but this is something I am hoping to do when I can determine with the field staff which areas they need to take offline. Due to the difficulty contacting the field staff I am not exactly sure of the version of collector used however it is not Collector Classic. As mentioned above I am also not sure of the size of the area that is being taken offline but some of the land that the team service is quite large. They use Samsung phones to do their collecting but I am not sure of the exact model. They have tried to take maps offline while connected to the office wifi, home wifi and 4G cellular data but seem to experience the same issue - the download starts, seems to continue downloading for a long time and eventually fails. In contrast for myself and others who are attempted to troubleshoot this the offline maps work fine unless we go to large areas (e.g. 50km x 30km) in which case the following error below is returned (in the collector logs on my iOS device) relating to the basemap; the team managing the server assures me that the server logs indicate the jobs relating to taking operational data offline complete successfully. Error downloading map: Error Domain=com.esri.arcgis.runtime.services.error Code=400 "Invalid URL" UserInfo={NSURL=https://tiledbasemaps.arcgis.com/arcgis/rest/directories/arcgisoutput/World_Imagery_MapServer/_ags483010445_ch?f=json, NSLocalizedDescription=Invalid URL, responseJSON={ error = { code = 400; details = ( ); message = "Invalid URL"; }; }} This is about all I know right now if there is any other information you need please let me know - any help greatly appreciated. Cheers, Gino

I have enabled the developer options on my android device to attempt to troubleshoot the issue but the only developer option is 'Placeholder' as shown in the attachment? Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong? Collector version: 20.2.1 Cheers, Gino

Hi Kristal, Apologies for the late reply - unfortunately I don't think I can be of any help as I am not sure what was wrong in the first place. I am not able to access the ArcGIS server myself (it is handled by an administrative team) to troubleshoot further and am not privy to much/any information about maintenance/changes which may have occurred that could have caused this issue. I can only assume that the type error indicates that there had become some disconnect between the service and the web map which was resolved when the service was refreshed. Fortunately for me, it was only the one service that was playing up so it was easy to resolve by republishing. I hope you are able to resolve your issues without going through the rigmarole of republishing all of your services. Cheers, Gino

Hi All, Wondering if anyone has experienced similar issues as to the one outlined below and/or may be able to advise how to troubleshoot? Many thanks in advance. Cheers, Gino P.S. Apologies if this is not posted to the correct location... ISSUE DESCRIPTION We are serving out data from 2 layers from an Oracle database using ArcGIS Server 10.7.1 to support field data collection. This is working fine in ArcGIS Online web maps and ArcGIS Pro + other 3rd party apps I have tested in. When it is used in ArcMap 10.7.1 the layer works fine at scales >= 1:42027. When we go to a scale of 1:42026 or larger the features do not draw (see image1). When the features are not displaying I can still identify them and view attributes in the attribute table. If I try and select them I get an error (see image2).

Hello, I am trying to use the out of the box edit widget to create or edit features in an ArcGIS Online web app. Intermittently when creating new features the data isn't being committed to the database. This behaviour has been reported by many end-users. I have done some testing by repeating an identical process of creating a new feature many times and the success/failure appears to be random as far as I can tell. I have noticed that the save/delete/close buttons that used to be on the bottom of the attribute form are missing also (see attachment). When it does fail the feature is still drawn on the map but no new rows are created in the database. The ghost feature cannot be clicked on or selected and if the page is refreshed will disappear. The below TypeError occurs whenever it fails however this is above my head to troubleshoot. Editing in the web map yields similar results and a bad request error - Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 400 () The data is stored in oracle database and served as features services using AGS 10.7.1 (also occurred on AGS 10.4.1). See attachment for the edit widget config. Can anyone please help me diagnose why this is occurring? Any insight greatly appreciated, many thanks in advance. init.js:115 TypeError: Cannot read property 'defaultSymbol' of null
