My organisation has recently adopted Experience Builder. While we find it quite useful, we're encountering an issue with the 'Zoom to' functionality in the Search Widget. Here's the problem: When I configure the search widget, I use the 'Data filtering changes' trigger to search for features based on a unique ID. It works perfectly when only one layer is involved. However, upon adding an additional layer, the zoom seems to pan to an unrelated location. I believe the data isn't the issue here. I say this because when I tried replicating the process with Web App Builder, both the search widget and zoom functioned as expected. I'd appreciate any insights or solutions. Thanks!

Hi, I've been reading this article about in-app AGOL snapping. Does anyone know if this functionality is available in Portal? And if so which version of Portal do you need to use? Thanks in advance

We are using the Add Attribute Rule tool to execute an arcade script (Script 1). This is for an app we are developing. I want the script to return null in the “PlannedClosureStart” date field (line 3) when “No” is input in the “PlannedClosure” text field (line 0). However, when I try to add this the tool returns the error “ERROR 000358: Invalid expression Failed to execute (AddAttributeRule)”. Is it possible to add null values to date fields in an arcade script? Script 1 var PlannedStart = $feature.PlannedClosure; if (PlannedStart=="Yes") { return $feature.PlannedClosureStart } else return null

I have recently developed a python script tool which creates a unique ID and fills in a few fields in response to user input. In the most part it works fine. However, whilst editing in SDE I run into the error message "One or more layers failed to draw: The requested operation is invalid on a closed state". This doesn't happen all the time but I'm concerned it may develop into a more serious problem. I am aware this problem has been addressed elsewhere and the consensus seems to be that arcpy.da.editor should be used to combat this problem. My problem is I only have access to ArcGIS 10.0 and so don't have access to arcpy.da.editor. Is there an equivalent workaround using 10.0? and how should it be implemented? I should mention that running my script outside of the SDE editing session seems to bypass this problem. My script does what its supposed to do and I haven't, as yet, come across the above error. Can anyone confirm that this is the right thing to do regarding this problem? Or am I yet to run into the aforementioned error? All help is appreciated

I didn't expect they would be in complete agreement, perhaps +- 5% difference. But a 20% discrepancy makes me think me there may be a problem with my method or the tool isn't very accurate. I used a 0.01 z tolerance as I thought a 1 in 10 height difference between the raster and the output TIN wasn't all that accurate. I also increased the maximum no. of points to 3500000 to allow for greater accuracy. The raster is derived from lidar data with 25cm accuracy.

I have been trying to calculate the volume of a small surface area. However, I am somewhat concerned about the differences I have encountered when using a TIN vs raster surface as the surface input. With the TIN I got a volume of 40000m cubed, with the raster (.asc) I got 50000m cubed. I know there will be differences in the result due to how each surface is constructed, but 20%? I find that a little disconcerting. I don't know if this makes much difference but the TIN is derived from the raster in question using the raster to TIN tool. I did set the z tolerance (in the raster to TIN tool) to 0.01 so I assumed the surfaces would more or less the same. So, does anyone know why there is such a big difference in the results? And which result do you think is more reliable? Thanks

Hi, I have been having problems with the Append tool. I am trying to copy/append a polygon attribute value to selected features within a polyline. However, when I run the tool the program issues 'warnings' 000595 and 000597. This results in the tool not completing any actions. The help section explains that the 0597 error is due to 'a record/feature from the input could not be inserted due to problems with one of the fields values'. However, all of the potential causes which are suggested are not applicable to my data or situation as far as I can tell. Does anyone know how I can work around this error? or any ideas on how I can copy attribute values from table to another using a different tool or python script? Regards, Chris

Thanks for your advice Mark/Chris, Apart from the Resource Centre literature on topology, do you know of any other online/offline literature relating to the manipulation of the first/last point? Particularly something that utilizes python? Thanks, Chris

Hi, Does anyone know how to programmatically detect what features a vertice/point is connected to in ArcGIS? My reason for asking this is I am developing a watercourse network and would like to identify node inputs/outputs. I am aware that a spatial join can acheive this somewhat, but would prefer to use something a little less involved if thats possible. Regards, Chris

Hi Adam, I tried what you suggested but I'm still getting the same result. No error messages either. The program seems to work for a little while then it stops and nothing happens. Chris

Thanks Anthony/Mark, You've helped me alot with this. I'm still a little puzzled by the [0] though, if as you say the [0] only assigns the first item on the list would this not restrict the code to searching for a single keyword such as 'x' as above and 'link' as below? But I do feel I have a reasonable understanding of how the script works now. So thanks. I have had a go at modifying the above using my own data. It still doesn't work. When I run the script in the python window there are no error messages and the script appears to complete but the layers that I want to turn off are unaffected and stay 'on'. Below is the script I have used. Any ideas as to why it hasn't worked? import arcpy
link = "C:/MyArcGIS/EDRN_LINK.shp"
node = "C:/MyArcGIS/EDRN_NODE.shp"
lcc_link = "C:/MyArcGIS/EDRN_LCC_LINK.shp"
lcc_node = "C:/MyArcGIS/EDRN_LCC_NODE.shp"
yw_link = "C:/MyArcGIS/EDRN_YW_LINK.shp"
names = [link, node, lcc_link, lcc_node, yw_link]
mxd = arcpy.mapping.MapDocument("current")
df = arcpy.mapping.ListDataFrames(mxd, "Layers")[0]
layers = arcpy.mapping.ListLayers(mxd, "*", df)
for layer in layers:
if layer.name in names:
layer.visible = False
arcpy.RefreshTOC()
arcpy.RefreshActiveView()

Hi I am still relatively new to Python and have trouble understanding lines/parts of certain scripts. I am interested in developing a tool that can turn certain layers off and would appreciate a little help understanding a script I found on another forum. In the script shown below I can understand most sections apart from lines 5 and 6. I don't really get what the [0] stands for or is referring to, I do not know what the "*" is for, and more importantly I don't fully understand how these two lines interact with the rest of the script.
names = [x,y,z,etc]
mxd = arcpy.mapping.MapDocument("current")
df = arcpy.mapping.ListDataFrames(, mxd, "Layers")[0]
layers = arcpy.mapping.ListLayers(mxd, "*", df)
for layer in layers:
if layer.name in names:
layer.visible = False
arcpy.RefreshTOC()
arcpy.RefreshActiveView() I would appreciate any guidance anyone can provide. Regards, Geord359
