Stuart, I don't have access to open a webform ticket when I tried to set one up and I can't find any other place to contact ESRI. Man, this is as difficult as navigating my health care website. They don't want you to contact them. I opened a new account, under new email, and tried to activate license again. Didn't activate. Again, I get no confirmation email or any indication that anything has happened. And it won't activate in the ArcGIS Administrator. Seems like a straightforward process. The license is for advanced use and I purchased it directly from Amazon, new. The next thing is to see if the license is good and still has the 180 day use still available. Any idea where I can find that out without submitting a webform? Thanks Tom

Stuart,Following your instructions, I get the following error when I use the Authorize now wizard. 7174 Only deployed entitlement line item can be fulfilled I also went to the "deauthorize" button and no licenses are now shown as installed. When I entered the code in the "http://esripress.esri.com/display/dsp_ArcGIS10Eval.cfm" location, I didn't receive and email as it said I would. I did get a list of instructions and a note that I would also receive an email. Do I need to wait a while for activation to take effect? This is a link to the error. 41575 - 7174: Only deployed entitlement line item can be fulfilled looks like I need to set up a new account. With Administrator privileges, delete (or rename if uncomfortable) the ArcGIS_xxxxxxxx_tsf.data and the tsf.data_backup.001 from the FlexNet Pbulisher trusted storage located at: C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet As with your Tutorial 1 you must activate the Authorization number against your individual Esri global account. You do that from here: http://esripress.esri.com/display/dsp_ArcGIS10Eval.cfm With the authorization code activated, you can then run the ArcGIS Administrator -> Desktop: "Authorize now..." wizard. I have an expired license from my 10.2 tutorial 1 book. I purchased the 10.2 Tutorial 2 book but can't seem to figure out how to change the licenses. I still have 10.2 installed on my notebook. First: I tried to activate using the ArcGIS Administrator Authorize now under desktop tab. Got the following error: 7174 Only deployed entitlement line item can be fulfilled. Second: Assuming I need to deactivate the old expired license, I went to support operations in the ArcGIS Administrator and clicked on deauthorize and selected my trial license. I got an error: 7466 The return of the fulfillment is denied by the return policy because max return exceeded How do I swap the new license from my Tutorial 2 book without reinstalling 10.2? It works fine, just need to change license file names. I have now way to contact support in My Esri. All support tabs are grayed out and unavailable. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tom Bath

Thank you Rebecca! I am a 30 plus year geologist with a mixture of environmental/mining/oil and gas. The job before last, I was in mining and used ArcGIS some at work, but always needed quite a bit of help. I need to learn this to get a job in environmental or even some oil nowadays. I have used CAD (Integraph) and oilfield well and seismic mapping which all use map coordinate systems, overlays, layers, etc. I just need to get much better at ArcMap. Hopefully I can get the license issue figured out and get to it.

Thanks, I moved the files from Flexnet as directed in the clear delete trusted storage and restarted administrator. I reauthorized the license and got the message, "Authorization denied because request would have exceeded the max copies for the following authorization numbers." I haven't used the book and authorization number before August when I tried to install the first time. Could I be getting the message because I have tried to authorize around 4 times now, or because someone has used this number in the past?

It is showing only expired licenses from my last install 60 day free trial which expired in Nov 2014. So, my guess is I need to deauthorize the old licenses under the support operations tab and then reauthorize using my new license key number from my book. I wonder how it knew about the old license since I uninstalled the old copy and removed the directories associated with the old install.

I have installed ArcGIS 10.1 and authorized online. The messages says, "All requested features have already been authorized on this machine." When I start ArcMap, it says "ArcGIS Desktop Advanced is not authorized for use." What do I do next? Last year, I installed a 90 day trial version of the same software, but uninstalled it before loading this 180 day student version. Was there some license file leftover from the old install that the license server might be locating? As of now, I am dead in the water. I may have wasted my unemployment insurance money on this Esri workbook.
