Hi, I have routes that are driving routes between address, that have been looked up using Google. They are in a shapefile. Now I am curious if there is a ready tool/script to introduce a little wiggle to these, to make them look more like GPS tracks. It is not too complicated to do this using ArcPy, and I might just go ahead and do it. What I would like to do is to insert nodes every x meters (10? 50?) and then move that node randomly within a specified radius (3 meters? 5 meters?). I am not sure it will look better in the heatmap that I am producing, but I am curious to see the result and compare vs straight lines/routes. Any tips?

Here is what I would like to do: to create a simple python add-in that sets the env.workspace when opening a document. So that operations in the python pane to the same folder that the mxd reside in. But I don't want to set it if the default geodatabase has been set in the ArcMap document properties, then that is preferable. So I need a way to check if the default geodatabase property is set or not! (i.e. if it is not the default value)

Yes, but that doesn't work for my case... I am playing with a python addin on ArcMap open document, and if env.workspace is set before I won't have the default workspace...

Hi, I am working on a little script, and I would like to get the default environment (more specifically the default geoprocessing workspace). How can I get that? I am looking at a way to create a new instance of arcpy module and get it from there, but I am not sure how to do that! Thanks, Hugo

ok! Under upgrade status for the connection (direct connection) it lists: "This 10.0 geodatabase matches the ArcGIS release you are currently using." - when I examine it using ArcCatalog 10.2...

Aha, thanks! Any major reason why it wouldn't work, unsupported? The geodatabase format hasn't changed from 10.1 to 10.2, right?

Hi, We recently upgraded desktop to ArcGIS 10.2, and now I am getting errors when trying to load data to our MSSQL 2005 geodatabase. This is a direct connection, we have retired ArcSDE that was previously running on that server. The error I am getting is: ERROR 000210: Canot create output Underlying DBMS error [HY104:[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]Invalid precision value] DBMS table not found Failed to execute (FeatureClassToFeatureClass) Any tips?

Another interesting piece of information, I can create a "service definition" file without any major problems, and I can publish that as a new service using the web based manager...

The server is on 10.1 service pack 1, and I have a feeling that this might have worked properly before sp1 got applied...

I can add that the publishing works fine once those layers are removed, and that analyzing doesn't turn up anything too alarming (e.g. only warnings about layers drawing at all scales).

Hi, I have some floating point rasters in an enterprise geodatabase, and they are added to the mxd without problem. Pyamids and statistics are built, spatial reference is set. But when I try to publish it, the dialog gets stuck on the "creating service definition" dialog (Packaging in progress ...), and nothing seems to happen - eventually I am forced to kill the ArcMap session. Any ideas on what could cause this, and how to work around it?

For the sake of completeness, can you post the JavaScript that was causing the problem? It is not so important what it was, it seems like I tried to call a method in the DOM that IE8 didn't support - I did a getElementsByClassName on a DOM node (from dojo.byId() ) Thanks all for the input!

Fixed it - I worked on trying to isolate the problem, and I found that there were some lines with non IE8 compatible javascript that caused the map.onLoad clause to trip up, and that lead to the graphics not being shown.

IE uses VML, and does not support SVG. Are you manually setting your renderer? Please post your code. Jeff, I am not setting the render manually - I assumed the api/dojo would do that automatically, is that not the case? The map works fine in IE9. Kevin - I have tried IE7 and IE8 compat level, maybe I need to play with it a bit more...

John, is this a defect in the print utility of ArcGIS Server? If it is, then I might just leave it as it is and hope that it will be fixed in an upcoming patch!
