Dear All, Have you had any news about this issue ? Even after the SP1, when I run the "CreateMobileMap_mobile" geoprocessing from dotnet code, it returns successful and 3 temporary folders are created in C:\Windows\Temp. Each of them contains the same 3 files: "MapSchema.bin", "MobileCache.db" and "MobileCache.db-journal". It seems it ignores the output folder parametter I set, and then generate an empty mapcache... Is there any workarround or fix ? Best regards,

Hi Did you ever get it to work? I'm getting the same blankness when trying to use Bing. Hi, Dear All, I finally managed to make it work!!!! In fact the code was correct but the key was wrong. Of course they were no warnings, log or errors.... You have two ways to create an appId: 1. The first one is using the Bing developer center (http://www.bing.com/developers) that's what I did first. What happened is that I visited this website because I found the link in the header file named AGSBingMapLayer.h
/** An AppID which has been authorized to use Bing Maps
@since 1.0
@see <a href="http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/b80e6336-6a33-4555-b26a-ba834c8d756c"> Getting Started with Bing API </a>
*/
@property (nonatomic, copy, readonly) NSString *appID;
2. But, if you want to make it work, you have to create the AppId on the "Bing Maps Account Center" website (http://www.bingmapsportal.com). On this other website, you can also create an appId and this one will be working... I don't know if I'm the only one who's done this mistake, but it wasn't really clear for me where I had to go to have a valid ID... :confused: Best regards, Fred

HI ... Just wondering if you ever manage to create your own custom tiled layer as per this thread? If so are you able to post the code. Thanks! Hi, Well no, I tried not a long time. I managed to call a AGSOperation, but then I don't know what to do, the operation never stops and don't know what delegate to call... So I gave up.

That may be the only reason left for not displaying map. However, if you load only dynamic or tiled layer instead of bing map in the same app then it works? Regards, Nimesh Yes, it happens only with Bing maps... Other sources are drawn correctly

Hi Nimesh, I tried to create a new project without any other layer and it's the same, the map stays blank without loading the bing tiles. Maybe I do something wrong when creating the appId ?!? Regards, Fred

Hi everybody, I'm trying to use the Bing map layer, but until now I've not been able to make it work. I went on the Bing map url called "Getting Started with Bing API" and created my app id. Then I initialize the AGSBingMapLayer object like that: AGSBingMapLayer *bingMap = [[AGSBingMapLayer alloc]
initWithAppID:@"3XXXX0929075CXXXD042FXXX2608B6E7D673XXXX"
style:kAGSBingMapLayerStyleRoad];
[self.mapView addMapLayer:bingMap withName:@"Bing"];
[bingMap release]; Unfortunately it doesn't work. It seems I missed something, but What ? Best regards, Fred

It is concievable that you can write your own custom layer that uses a local cache. You would be responsible for getting the cache on the device, and then implementing the logic to retrieve a particular tile taking into consideration the cache's tiling scheme. Doable, but can be tricky We haven't thoroughly exercised the workflow of creating custom tiled layers at this time. But you can try subclassing the AGSTiledLayer if you're feeling adventurous, . Here's how it would work (in theory) : Sub-classes must provide implementation for the spatialReference , fullEnvelope , initialEnvelope, and units properties declared by AGSLayer, and the tileInfo property declared by AGSTiledLayer. They must also provide implementation for the tileForLevel:row:column: and tileForLevelAsync:row:column: methods and notify the tileDelegate when appropriate. It is also the responsibility of sub-classes to update the loaded property and notify the delegate when appropriate. Hi, Thank you for this information. I've been trying to subclass the AGSTiledLayer, but after adding it to the mapview, the tileForLevel:row:column: and tileForLevelAsync:row:column: methods are never called. Do you know if there is anything special to do in the init: method or anywhere else ? It seems I've implemented all the properties needed. Best regards,
