Hello, I have created some polygons that have latitude values between -200:-180. The idea is that I want these to appear on the west of my map. They display correctly until I perform any geoprocessing on them. For example if I perform a clip, the resulting feature class appears on the east of my map. I have checked the X,Y coordinates and the extent of the feature class and they all retain the original values. How can I get the clipped polygons to display on the west side of the map again?

If you are in ArcMap and hit the pause button in the lower left corner, can you still run the tool? ... or ... have you tried to change the environment setting? arcpy.env.addOutputsToMap - Russell arcpy.env.addOutputsToMap does the trick !! Thanks for your help

The best option I have found so far is to use arcgisscripting. Using before the intermediate creations: gp = arcgisscripting.create() gp.AddOutputsToMap = False Then before the final featureclass: gp.AddOutputsToMap = True Does the job, shame to have to resort to the old library

Hi Doug, The script uses the current map extent and CRS. My end game hope is to make this an add-in as there are no other parameters required

I have script that I run from the python window in arcmap that creates intermediate feature classes that I then delete once the final feature class is created. The problem is I cannot find a way to stop ArcMap plotting these intermediate feature classes and refreshing the map as each one is created. Is there a way to pause the map update (using code) that I can incorporate in my script?

Thank you for the responses. Does anyone have any ideas why this does not happen in the ArcCatalog window from ArcMap? Because these pyt run perfectly fine from ArcMap (and most of the time from ArcCatalog) I am a bit stumped as to where to look for any coding errors?

I have an intermittent error, which other colleagues have experienced as well, where having created working python toolboxes ArcCatalog 10.1 will crash on opening with a serious application error. I then delete the Normal.gxt file, which restores ArcCatalog but I cannot see the python toolboxes. Oddly eventually they do reappear, usually after a few uses of arcmap, and will function again. I find the crash is far more likely to happen if I am testing toolboxes but this is not always the case. Furthermore I do not get this issue if I use the python toolboxes in ArcMap, they are always present and always work. Has anyone experienced this issue and if so know how to resolve it?

Hello, I have a linked table that contains the Lat,Long of the information in another table When users create a new entry they select which area they are in and this links to the correct Lat Long. However, when I point my arcMap add-in Lat and Long to these linked columns they do not appear on the map. My feeling is that this is due to the linked table columns having the data type "Lookup". Am I right? or is there a way to get this to work?

I have been trying to implement arcpy.da.Walk() as a replacement for the os.walk when looking for spatial data. My code is very simple: with open(output, 'wb') as csvfile: csvwriter = csv.writer(csvfile) for dirpath, dirnames, filenames in arcpy.da.Walk(workspace,followlinks = True): for filename in filenames: desc = arcpy.Describe(os.path.join(dirpath, filename)) csvwriter.writerow([desc.catalogPath, desc.name, desc.dataType]) The output contains most items (e.g. tables, geodatabases, feature classes) but does not contain .mxd, .lyr and .mpk files. When I checked the documentation, this function should pick up these files. I have tested it on several paths and still cannot get these items in my output.
