I'd like to aggregate U.S. census tract data, for several variables, to sub-county enumeration units. I want to ensure the demographic composition, by percent, of the aggregate geographies is somewhat similar to the tracts from which they are constructed. Would Similarity Search, specifically SIMINDEX, be useful for this purpose? I'm thinking of using SIMINDEX at census tract level. I'd assign the aggregate value to each census tract that makes up a specific aggregated enumeration unit to compare to the original census tract percent. If I use Attribute profiles, what would be a suitable threshold? Perhaps > 0? Thanks!

Thank you Karl. This is useful and relevant 508 information, but it still doesn't address the problem of exporting hundreds of pdfs at a time (thousands for all U.S. counties) using data driven pages. We've already implemented design considerations, but would like to avoid having to go back and edit all those pdfs individually. We'd greatly appreciate any added 508 compliance functionality in the future. Thanks again! Elaine

I need to produce a series of maps - one for each of the U.S. counties - that will be accessible via a website. I can easily do this using data-driven pages. However, each of the pdf files I output must be 508 compliant. ("Section 508 requires that all website content be accessible to people with disabilities. This applies to Web applications, Web pages and all attached files on the Intranet, as well as, the Internet."). Does anyone know if there's a way to automate the process to add the required materials for 508 compliance? Has Esri or some other agency or person done created a tool to do this? Thanks! Elaine

Thank you for the info. In this case, I'm working with data that span the lower 48 states of the US. Though IDW may work well with suitably projected data for a smaller geographic extent, I think this area is too large to get optimal results. Can I assume from your answer that using geodesic measures isn't an option (yet) for interpolation techniques, including IDW, in ArcGIS Pro (or ArcMap)?

Can I use unprojected data with a geodesic option in IDW or other interpolation techniques? I've used geodesic measures in kernel density estimation, but I don't see it mentioned explicitly in IDW Help. Thanks! Elaine

If I'm understanding correctly, what you're suggesting for ArcGIS Pro as "intuitive" ranges, is actually the method used for labeling classes in ArcGIS Desktop. ArcGIS Pro should never have used those technically incorrect "<=" labels in the first place.

Because the patches are separated by a space, I don't believe the implied limits are clear. The upper and lower range values should be explicitly stated for this type of patch legend. As is, the legend is confusing and technically incorrect. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem there are any other options, so I'll be using ArcMap for my traditional choropleth maps for the time being.

I've used ArcMap for years, but just started using ArcGIS Pro. I don't understand the reasoning behind the default Pro choropleth legend. Although the Label may be correct for the entire set of values, it's incorrect for the individual patch Symbol next to the Label. Looking at Jay's display above, the patch to the left of <= 3916, doesn't include anything <= 2623, so the Label <=3916 is incorrect. I'd really like the option to use a range of values for each patch.

Thanks Greg - this simple solution does exactly what I need. I'm surprised Esri doesn't have a description of this when you search Help on "create help."

I'm trying to create a simple Help file in ArcGIS 10 for a new geoprocessing tool created by a developer with whom I work. Here's all I can find from Esri on this: There are many sources of information on creating and compiling HTML help or .chm files. A good starting point is the "Microsoft HTML Help 1.4 SDK" topic available from the Microsoft library (http://msdn.microsoft.com). In the library, you'll also find information on creating and compiling .chm files listed under Visual Tools and Languages, HTML Help.? I'm not a developer and I don't relish the idea of having to download, install, and learn how to use another software package just to create a few help pages. Also, I can't find a "Microsoft HTML Help 1.4 SDK" topic from the link Esri provides and the most recent version of HTML Help, downloadable from Microsoft, seems to be from 2003. Does anyone know of a workaround? Has anyone worked with HTML Help? Any quick start tutorials? Any suggestions? Thanks! Elaine Message was edited by: Curtis Price (reformatting to Geonet)
