Hi @Anonymous User, While ArcGIS Online has an "invite user" function that allows a public ArcGIS Online account to be converted into an organizational account, this is currently not possible in ArcGIS Enterprise, as members joined to a Portal must either be built-in users or members of your Active Directory/identity store. If you're interested in sharing content between Portals (ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Online), consider checking out the Distributed Collaboration functionality, which allows for content sharing between organizations.

Hi Bill, This will depend largely on the amount of content that resides on ArcGIS Server and Portal for ArcGIS, as a system with relatively few services will upgrade much more quickly than a system with hundreds of services. That said, for many production environments I've seen upgrade times range from 2 hours to 6-8 like you mentioned. Machine resources also play a role but are typically secondary to the amount of content hosted on ArcGIS Enterprise.

Hi @mody_buchbinder, Are you trying to build this environment from scratch, or by using the ArcGIS Enterprise Cloud Builder for Azure tool? We'll typically encourage you to use the Cloud Builder tool as this simplifies a lot of the configuration steps and sets things up using our preferred values. The resource I linked contains a wealth of information on ArcGIS Enterprise in Azure that should help clear some things up.

Hi @NicolasGIS, Thanks for reaching out. While the internal attributes (the ones provided by your Active Directory) cannot be edited, Portal for ArcGIS expects to receive group membership claims in the formats you listed below. However, any attribute from your AD that contains group information can be mapped to one of the "group" claims the Portal expects. Here's an illustration from our SAML (ADFS) configuration document that illustrates this well: You'll see that entries in the left-hand column (from your Active Directory) are associated with outgoing claims that are sent to Portal for ArcGIS, on the right. In the example, "Token-Groups - Unqualified Names" is mapped to the "Group" value. However, you could easily replace "Token-Groups - Unqualified Names" with any group attribute that exists in your Active Directory. These settings are fairly standard in any SAML-compliant Identity Provider, but I wouldn't be sure of whether yours is compatible without knowing which vendor you use.

Hi @AliceWilson, Pkill.exe is an executable included with Portal for ArcGIS that is used to stop processes by their PIDs. There are a variety of reasons this process runs: A process gets hung with no activity for a specific length of time (this will vary with the process) the pkill will be invoked. If an illegal activity occurs in a process, pkill can be invoked to protect data. A process can call up pkill when it is completed. Quarantining this executable may cause a degradation in Portal for ArcGIS' regular performance.

Hi @SteveWay2, I realize this response may be a little late, but does your SSL certificate have valid Subject Alternative Names? Portal has slightly more restrictions on the format and contents of the SSL certificate than ArcGIS Server does, and may reject a certificate with invalid SANs or other content.

Hi @ZianChoy, These "tmp-portal-unzip" files are left over from importing a webgisdr restore into your Portal, and can be safely removed after the restore succeeds. I am not aware of an automatic process that clears these out.

Hi @RvBalimi, Couple questions for you here: What distro and version of Linux are you using? Do your machine(s) have multiple NICs? As an aside, are you attempting to use Portal for ArcGIS on the same machine as the ArcGIS Data Store (Spatiotemporal)?

Hi @MichaelMorisette, Currently, built-in accounts are separate from Enterprise/SAML accounts. There are no currently plans to merge the two, as Enterprise accounts are derived from and managed by Active Directory, whereas built-in accounts have no such association. Perhaps your third-party system supports Enterprise logins in some other way than SAML? So long as the NameID (username) remains the same, content should still be associated with the Enterprise account in Portal.

Hi @SergioFernandez, The ArcGIS Story Maps configurable app and its associated templates are available at Portal version 10.8.0 and earlier; however, the ArcGIS Story Maps application (which can be added to the App Launcher) is introduced at 10.8.1. You can read about some of the differences between these tools here.

Hi @RyanBumm, Unfortunately, the only method to restore items like this is by either rolling your machine back to a saved snapshot using a third party backup system, or by restoring a webgisdr backup. Portal content that resides on a fileshare typically cannot be re-added by a simple file upload, but must be republished.

Hi @MiriEshel, There are a variety of reasons you might encounter this error. First off, have you ensured that the service account that runs Portal for ArcGIS has "Full Control" access to the Portal's installation and content directories? If the service account is a local account, you might want to try a domain-joined account instead and attempt to run the upgrade again.
