Hi Pat, From what I can see, that registry information is there for use by the setup when installing/uninstalling/patching and not runtime of the application. However, please test this work around thoroughly. Thank you for the information on your future plans. Derek

Hello, Yes, I can confirm that any single version of the IIS Web Adaptor can only be installed 11 times on a machine. If you would like to deploy more Web Adaptors, you can do the following: 1) In Windows Explorer, make a copy of an existing web adaptor and name it as necessary. 2) In IIS, Make the new folder into a web application 3) In IIS, assign the new application to an application pool, such as ArcGISWebAdaptorAppPool 4) In Windows Explorer, navigate to the WebAdaptor.config file under your application 5) Open the security settings and add 'IIS APPPOOL\ArcGISWebAdaptorAppPool' as a user, giving it 'Full Control' 6) Close Windows Explorer 7) Open http://host/<newapp>/webadaptor and configure it with ArcGIS Server. The issue with the work around above is that uninstalling and potential patching will not be aware of the hand built web adaptors. Please thoroughly test these extra web adaptors. How many web adaptor applications do you envision needing in the future for any single version? Thanks Derek

Hello, A patch is now available from Esri for this issue when using ArcGIS Server version 10.1 SP1: http://support.esri.com/en/downloads/patches-servicepacks/view/productid/66/metaid/2054 This issue does not occur when using 10.2 Final with the latest versions of Google Chrome. Thanks Derek

Hi Jason, When you register a Web Adaptor with a site, it adds a bit of meta data about the Web Adaptor client machine to the site. That is what you see listed on the Site > Web Adaptor page in Manager. At 10.1 Final, uninstalling the IIS Web Adaptor does not remove this metadata and we plan to fix this at SP1. You can use the Administrator Directory application to remove the old Web Adaptor information: 1) Open http://localhost:6080/arcgis/admin in a browser. 2) Log in. 3) Navigate to System > WebAdaptors. 4) Select your old Web Adaptor. 5) Click Unregister. The full URL would look like: http://localhost:6080/arcgis/admin/system/webadaptors/<oldwebadaptor>/unregister Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks Derek

Hello, I wanted to follow up on the reports in this thread where registering a database data store in Manager is displaying a dialog that says 'EDIT_PANE'. One known cause of the EDIT_PANE error is if the pre-configured System/PublishingTools service is stopped. Manager uses two tasks provided by this service for registering database data stores. We will improve this workflow for SP1 by detecting when the service is stopped and allowing you to start it immediately without navigating away from this dialog. I also wanted to highlight the point made by Ale: Restarting the ArcGIS Server service after installing the client libraries and configuring the PATH variable is very important. That insures that all server processes are aware of the new PATH setting. For the folks that uninstalled/reinstalled and found that things started working, we could think of this is a very roundabout way of restarting the ArcGIS Server service and that is why it fixed things. Thank you Derek

Hello, When the IIS Web Adaptor runs, it creates a new application pool in IIS called ArcGISWebAdaptorAppPool. The identity of this application pool needs permissions to the WebAdaptor.config file that is being referenced in the error message. Could you please try the following: 1) Navigate to C:\inetpub\wwwroot\arcgis\ or the location referenced in the error message. 2) Right click the WebAdaptor.config file and choose Properties. 3) Click the Security tab. 4) Check whether the setup program has given the local user IIS APPPOOL\ArcGISWebAdaptorAppPool permissions to write to this file. If it is not listed, we need to add it. 5) Click the Edit button. 6) Click Add. 7) Click the Locations button and select the name of the local machine. 😎 In the box at the bottom, enter 'IIS APPPOOL\ArcGISWebAdaptorAppPool' without the single quotes and click 'Check Names'. 9) Give 'Full Control' permissions to ArcGISWebAdaptorAppPool. 10) Click Apply and OK to all dialogs to close them. Please open the Web Adaptor configuration page again and try registering your GIS Server machine. Thank you Derek

Hi Kenneth, Here is what I would recommend: 1) Delete your site by opening the Site Directory application located at the URL http://localhost:6080/arcgis/admin. 2) Once logged in, click the DeleteSite operation. 3) Close the browser. 4) Open Manager and go through the CreateSite wizard. When asked for the username and password, enter a new non-Windows OS account. 5) Open ArcMap/ArcCatalog and delete your existing connection to the server. 6) Create a new Admin connection using the account you specified during the CreateSite wizard. Thanks Derek

Hi Kenneth, The account specified during the initial installation is the Windows OS account that processes will run as. We will call that the ArcGIS Server account. If it does not exist during the time of the setup, it will be created by the setup. This is the operating system account that needs to have permissions to data you publish as services. The account you specified during the CreateSite step in Manager is the primary administrator account that is created in ArcGIS Server's builtin security store. This primary administrator account is not a Windows OS account. The account you specified during CreateSite is what you would use when making your admin connection in ArcCatalog. Did you happen to enter a windows account when running the Create Site wizard? Thank you. Derek

Hi Kenneth, Please try these steps: 1) In the Windows services panel, stop the ArcGIS Server service. 2) Open the Task Manager and verify that there are no java.exe or rmid.exe processes remaining that are running as the 'Log On As' account that the ArcGIS Server service is assigned. 3) In Windows Explorer, rename your c:\arcgisserver folder. If your configuration store and server directories are in a different location, rename the root directories for those as well. 4) Navigate to C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Server\framework\etc and delete the config-store-connection.xml and machine-config.xml files if they exist. 5) Restart the ArcGIS Server windows service. 6) Open a new browser session and open Manager. 7) Run through the CreateSite wizard. Let me know if this does not fix the problem. Thanks Derek
